Hello! So, the last three weeks I've had zero customers come in, besides a friend or two I invited. And, coupled with the fact that now classes are over and schedules are changing, Mikky's will be CLOSED for the foreseeable future. I don't know if people did not like the idea, or if the open hours were badly timed, or if I simply did not advertise enough. But! There hasn't been much interest as of late. Perhaps I'll reopen after the summer's over, if given feedback, but for now consider Mikky's closed!
-
Back again this Wednesday! Same schedule as before!
-
Mikky's will be closed for the month of January! Sorry! Be back in February. Appointments can still be made! Just no open hours.

Aaaaah yeah sign me up if you can!!! Sounds super cool! -
Guess what's back!! It's on the rp calendar too so I doubt I'll bump this again in the future, but ayyy!
-
Thanks guys!!!!! It was indeed really fun!! About five people showed up altogether- definitely enough to keep rp going all the way from 7, opening time, until 10, closing time! I'd call that a success for a small little thing like this! Will be open again in two weeks!
-
Opening night is tonight! Hope to see people there!
-
Ayyy thanks! Boost though that opening day is this week! Love to see anyone there; remember haircuts aren't mandatory lol- feel free to stop in, say hi, grab a drink, chat a while!
-
That sounds really complicated but super fun!!!! Maybe I'll ask you to give Mikky a makeover 8-) But that's really neat they got similar job types- if he knew your alt, he could totally recommend her to customers he couldn't help! Or maybe call her in as a guest occasionally!

Yes! This an IC barber shop and lounge, trying to channel the idea of the classic barber, in the era where it was a place for socialization and camaraderie, not solely haircuts. We will be open on the First and Third Wednesdays of each month, unless stated otherwise, from 7:00 pm est till 10:00 or so. Appointments can also be made by messaging me on here- this lovely site I never use, or in-game on Mikh'a Galanai. The shop is located in The Lavender Beds, the 11th ward, subdivision apartment 1. Are you best man at a wedding and just now realizing that scraggly ponytail isn't gonna cut it? Are you tired of your husband's lack of care for his scruffy appearance? Are you proud of your hair, and want someone who you can rely on to keep it that way, week by week? Are you going off to fight the Garleans abroad and want to sport a spiffy new haircut before you're on your way? All these questions and more can be fixed at Mikky's Barber Shop! The Barber Mikky's is a barber shop, so Mikky himself specializes in doing traditionally male haircuts- short, neat, and clean. A piece of parchment is nailed to the back of the front door, depicting his "menu," the common hairstyles he's ready to do on a dime. Just say the name, and he'll get right on it. **The Menu** That's not to say he's not gonna cut your hair if it doesn't fit within those set parameters- he'll listen and do his best to the type of look you're going for. If you don't have a clue, he will always default to "the classic." Disclaimer of Sorts: Mikky was trained to be a barber, specializing in short, clean, simple cuts. He doesn't have much of the experience to be confident in longer hair and womens' cuts, but he will try if the customer wishes! He'll just make sure they're aware of that. Mikh'a stocks dyes and similar products for hair, but only for sale and not for use. Cuts only! Appointments must be made if one wishes a haircut, except during the two times a month that walk-in hours are present. We can do groups, but they must book in advance. We're fully prepared to cater to a full party, be it for wedding preparations, Grand Company events, or any other formal event or occasion. The Lounge Barber shops need not only be about haircuts. They are sanctuaries for chatting, drinking, and generally getting along. We keep a fully stocked bar, with one complimentary drink per cut (though you're free and encouraged to perhaps buy a second or third). There is plenty of room to kick back, relax, and just talk about whatever. We have the waiting area, as well as tables in the back, if one needs to do some paperwork outside of the office, or perhaps wishes to challenge another patron in Triple Triad (Disclaimer: I don't actually have a Triple Triad board. Yet.) The bar and sitting areas are NPC manned, and thus open at any time if players wish to stop by if Mikky is out, or offline. The bartender is a hulking Au Ra with, oddly, a thick Lominsan accent. He calls himself Drake. The Shop Mikky not only cuts hair, but sells various hair products! He has a homemade pomade recipe, as well as other brand-name items. He's recently begun to stock a few dyes, as well as shampoos and conditioners. Happy Customers! ~ OOC Unfortunately, Square Enix does not let you use other peoples' aesthetician barber poles! Even though there's a whole "accessibility" menu in housing. Thus, the cut can be rp'd, but than customers must run to the nearest accessible one (probably a port to the inn in Gridania and back). Yeah, it kinda sucks. Oh well.:dodgy: Connections! A barber is one cool thing, sure, but it's much more fun with connections! There -are- currently two barber chairs in Mikky's shop, so we could hire another barber- or perhaps an apprentice! A stylist contact would be really cool, too! To do all the hair stuff Mikky can't. They could even be the ones to control the empty chair! Drinks! You may have noticed there is no drink menu. That's because Mikky's is a very small business, and would like to promote other small businesses! If you have a company or business making your own drinks (preferably alcoholic, of course, lol), we'll stock it! Other craftsmen and stuff! Perhaps a tailor, clothes designer, seamstress? Other aesthetic-based careers and occupations. Would be super cool to be hired by a group for their big formal event, and have the hair, clothes, decorations, and catering all be outsourced to different IC shops and companies!

i'm BAAAAAAACK one year later lmao really quick doodles of the two i never got to! and, steel wolf, i don't do commissions usually, but if you want one hmu
-
Duuude this sounds like such a cool idea!! My main probably wouldn't have much to do with something like that, though (but maybe I can make an exception). Either way, A+++ idea

Basically I'm new(ish?); like I used to play about a year ago (but only for like two months, didn't really have time to dive into rp), but now I'm back, hey! And lonely. So my character Mikh'a is a small-time Lominsan pirate thug scumbag type- for now, at least. Development should occur. I'd love directions towards friendly/good linkshells and fc's (there's so many to sift through, orz). I'm all about the heavy rp and all the themes (minus erp. no thanks). Ok but the point of my post is dear Mikh'a needs friends (and enemies!). Pirates, mafia types, criminals in all shapes and sizes are the type he'd be hanging out with.. But also cops, vigilantes, warriors of justice! Because he'll no doubt be getting in their way. Beat him up, it's fine. He deserves it. I'm gonna try networking too, but it's a pain when you got no contacts as of yet. So hmu on Mikh'a Galanai in-game if you want! Or here. Here's his wiki page, too: beep boop

I attempted some more A Nailah. She looks strong And a Leanne. She looks like she'd have a good smile They've both got that "would-totally-be-better-on-paper" thing, but they're just sketches, w/e. Gonna go for fullbodies next- Hien and Arzilia because they're the only other two models who haven't had anything at all yet orz. Oh, and Scaith, but I gotta get more references

I am finding my tablet to be progressively more infuriating. Why does everything I draw turn out so much worse than if I had a pen and paper???? I do not know. In other news, to prove I'm not dead, here's a page of my notebook from work because it was super duper slow today. I also tried my hand at a Scaith but didn't like it lmao; gimme more reference pictures man One of each race, feat. proper lip sizes on a certain barmaid IMMA TRY AND DO MORE DON't worry (on my actual tablet... instead of attempting, hating it, and procrastinating until my next attempt which ends in the same result. RIP)
-
First up! In retrospect I think the lips look bad? Too blended, dunno. I don't know if I'll do full ink and shading for the rest lmao
-
Oh! Yeah. Fixed that lol

Hello! I figured I'd hit two birds with one stone here- I'm on the lookout for rp groups, fcs, friends, etc. etc.; and I also just got a new tablet. Now, I find myself very uncomfortable with digital art, I'm not used to it- but I wanna practice. So! Show me pictures of your characters! Your cool characters. Your unique characters. Interesting races/gender combos, interesting armor sets, hairstyles, etc. and lemme sketch 'em on my new tablet. That way I'll get better (hopefully), and sketch a whole variety of people types (instead of just my characters). Dunno how many I'll do, of course- let's start with five and go from there? Just send me in the direction of screenshots/references! Don't want (or expect) a whole slew of requests. They're just sketches. Anyway. Here's two examples of stuff I've done so far- my characters, I've got a definite style I'd say. Though they look like shit compared to my traditional stuff. Must. Improve! A friend of mine colored the colored one, so I don't take credit for that, but the linework and base shading was mine (it just looks so good colored to not show it off like that)/ Hopefully this thread will get me to start feeling comfortable with my tablet, and hopefully it'll also start fostering connections (rp with me!). Sorry my elf is so damn big I still don't know the specifics of digital art lmao

Hi! I am also fairly new to Balmung and in need of connections- I think my cat and your cat would get along well. Koh'te is also from Limsa, and does guard-type jobs (for people who adhere to the law... and those who don't). Their paths could easily cross IC-ly!

I'm looking to make an Elezen, and thinking he'll be a Garlean spy or refugee; something like that. Because Elezen seem to be the only other race present in Garlean enemies I've seen, next to the majority being Hyur. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the Empire other than what I've seen in the story so far (and I'm far from completing it, as of now). Any info regarding Garlemald would be helpful (if there's a big lore drop or something somewhere), but my main question is: should I make him Wildwood or Duskwight?
-
This sounds like a super cool idea! I've always wanted to rp a bandit actually acting like a bandit (I've learned people generally wanna only beat up those types of characters). Count me in if this gets off the ground!
-
So Narantuyaa's sketch is super great, thanks so much! I apologize for the all-caps exclamation in your reputation thing. I was very excited. It's embarrassing. But seriously woah it's so good I can't get over it
-
hi this seems fun he looks like a goof idk i don't have any reference pictures except my profile pic doodle apologies im still new

Hi hi hello! I'm Cake and I've been roleplaying in mmos for one or two years now; somewhere thereabouts. I never rp'd before an mmo, and I never really got into deep character relationships or complicated plotlines and journeys in the time I've spent- something I'm really working to change in FFXIV. I still consider myself quite a noob. While I've been here for a while now, I'm making a thread now after I've become more comfortable and have a real character :cactuar::cactuar::cactuar: I bought the game a little less than a month ago and transferred to Balmung a week or two later, so I've been here for a bit. I've been exploring, leveling, learning lore, dabbling in rp- but very little as of yet. I'm on the lookout for FCs, linkshells, and friends! But enough about me. Character mini-bios go! I generally roll with one main and one or two major alts, with any other slots not functioning as real characters (unless the need for another alt hits, which I doubt- two to three keeps me plenty busy). As such, I'm working on my first character, with a planned alt. My main is Koh'te Galanai, a young male Keeper of the Moon who lives and works in Limsa Lominsa doing odd jobs and mercenary work (the more proper term would be "hired thug," though he's loath to refer to himself as such). He's good with knives, kind of dumb, and largely ignorant to the world outside his own life's bubble. He's not the nicest guy by any means, but he's got a good heart. Buried in there somewhere. Probably. I fell in love with Limsa Lominsa and La Noscea in general, so he's been developed as I learn the lore of the game as I progress. He's in need of contacts, and looking for work- he's realizing he can't get by without a set job without a steady income (cue FC needs- he'll do anything that includes working as a guard, or someone with that skillset). Possible ways a character would know him IC would be from living in Limsa, specifically the not-so-nice part, or from beating him up/getting him arrested if your character is the hero type and was busting some crime boss or drug lord who he'd been hired to guard. Granted, in the long run he may not be my main and some shenanigans may be pulled with Fantasia potions, once I've wrapped my head around Eorzea in general and pull out a character I like better (I'm really crushing on the Twelveswood culture right now). But he's what I've got for now. Alt-wise, I've got my witchboy. He's still a concept, not a character- as in, he's nameless and raceless, though it'll probably be some culture-viable variant of Noah. It's a design I really like, and am carrying over from my own random creative writing as well as other mmos: a traveler, quiet, mysterious, unknown- who always smells like the sea for some reason. I just really enjoy that kind of mysterious, witchy aesthetic, where stuff is constantly a bit off but it's never getting explained. In Noah's case, he'd probably ICly be a Conjurer of some sort, who specializes in water. He's quiet, reserved, delicate; he can see things from reading the water, the way it ripples, the way the waves move. He's a fortune teller of sorts. He'd also sell potions and whatnot, most likely. I can't exactly put the feeling into a few words here, but if you go here, you can read a little blurb I wrote in planning way before I got the game. I had originally planned him as a Sun Seeker, but with my other catboy already here he might end up Hyur or Elezen (or a second Keeper, even. I like Keepers.). Forgive the overly flowery language- I feel it fits him. It's kind of obnoxious, though. Koh'te's got a small wiki article also, but it's fairly bare-bones at this point. And I need to work out the kinks of having a nice layout and whatever. Anyways, thanks for reading this (if you've actually read all the way through). If you've got linkshells or FCs that're active, recruiting, and need some kinda guard (or just wanna rp), hmu in-game! I'm on most nights and EST, but stay up late so it's whatever. I'm only on Koh as of now and I'm in dire need of more contacts. I've only got one person I've rp'd with multiple times as of yet, and I despise the overcrowdedness of the Quicksand. So many floating blue names! I can't see!
