  1. I got greedy. I have two. ouwCWDbBskU I will make a quick note that as a person, I think Kanye West is a pile of trash. Now, lets talk about the song! The sound of this song really fits my character with the background chorus and the sirens and the energy. My character is the head of XI:7, a corporation that is rapidly expanding and buying out smaller companies. He has a huge lust for power, and worries that one day it won't always be for the greater good. The first part fits for his expansion methods. "Do it better then anybody you ever seen do it Screams from the haters, got a nice ring to it I guess every superhero need his theme music" The chorus is the most fitting. "No one man should have all that power The clocks tickin' I just count the hours Stop trippin' I'm tripping off the power Till then, fuck that the world's ours" xrPjip1R5lo This one touches on a very deep part of my character. Kid Cudi sings about how he was treated for his different style of music and his positive attitude towards women. Garryson uses very unconventional methods to run and build his company. This has led him to develop a personality that is hard to read. Sometimes when he is alone, he thinks about how he feels like he's not part of this world. He also has a complicated relationship with women. As a young boy his mother committed suicide, something he blames himself for. Since then there have been events that made him treat women with extra care. The first verse is really, really fitting. "They can't comprehend Or even come close to understanding him I guess if I was boring they would love me more Guess if I was simple in the mind Everything would be fine Maybe if I was jerk to girls Instead of being nice and speaking kind words Then maybe it would be OK to say then I wasn't a good guy to begin with"
  2. So, here we are again. Nova made a new banner, put in a not-default background picture, and all around made our site awesome. You know the drill. Check the site out. Give her props. This stuff looks amazing. http://xi7.enjin.com/
  3. I agree with the idea that this is ridiculously epic! Not to mention that ALL THREE of these guilds are the exact ones that I'm having a really hard time choosing between. I have one friend who already wants to join XI:7, another who wants to join Mysterium (but is considering XI:7), and I'm debating between the Blades and Mysterium... Grrr. T__T Ashren makes a really good point. I suspect our groups are going to be pretty close, our members inter mingling on a regular basis. Even if each one of you join different FCs, you'll still be together a lot. Besides your own time to spend with each other, lets say your friend who wants to join XI:7 is doing some XI:7 RP. 95% of the time you are welcome to come along even if you are Mysterium or Blades. Have you played Final Fantasy X-2? This brings to mind Barali, Nooj, and Gippal, leaders of New Yevon, The Youth League, and the Al Bhed's Machine Faction. I always thought this was a beautifully poetic balance. All three of these men fought together in Crimson Squad. And here they are leading three different factions (opposing ones at that) but they were still friends. So I wouldn't worry too much about where your friends are going. I would suggest RPing with all three groups and seeing where your character feels at home. We all just want to have fun, and whatever group you choose we're all still friends.

    XI:7

Yeah, absolutely. Check out our site ( http://xi7.enjin.com/ ) We have been chatting on there to pass the time until release. If you are interested in getting RPed in before the weekend some of us RP over Skype. If you have any questions feel free to send me a message.
  5. That is actually a really good idea Myxie. If something like that started to get organized, I'd probably put a villain in the pool.
  6. Yeah I like these ideas. If we do something it should be, like you said, slow burning. That solves a lot of the problems. Firstly that it doesn't have to be true alts that are antagonistic, just NPCs some of us might play out at certain points along the journey. And I do agree that there are plenty to oppose ICly, and we all will I'm sure. But sometimes you need someone to play out the other side. So I think these ideas are for those occasional events where we want to band together and go against something a bit more tangible. We're not talking every RP is going to be "We gotta go fight !" To me we're just planning some long-term occasional RP events for our groups. I'd love to run cross-group events where we sort of break up into a couple teams and intermix the FCs so you can have epic RP with people from the other groups.
  7. That is a good point. Definitely something to consider. But to be fair, we would only need a small handful of us to actually do something like that. At any given time we could just have one person be the Dungeon Master/Their Villain to run an event or whatever. So maybe we do a big event, and that night its my turn to be the bad guy. So we're only one man out and I make a plausible excuse for my character not to be in the fray.
  8. Hmmm... How would you feel about a bit of a coalition thing on the evil side of things too? I have a character in mind who would work with an organization like that to gain power, but secretly be gaining it to just bring the world to destruction from pure bitterness. An agent of chaos basically. The good guys team up, so when bad guys can use each other, they team up too right?
  9. I actually like the idea of something keeping them out of Gridania for the time being. Which spawns my next thought. Maybe we could pull a City of Heroes and write up an antagonist organization that all three of them oppose. We could play alts of bad guys. I know I'd be willing to play another character that's a villain. Hell, I've been sort of looking for an excuse.
  10. Not a bad idea. Once we get the storylines of how all three groups interact, we could have occasional councils of all the leaders. I also think we need to start thinking of an official name for the three-way alliance. The Eorzean Alliance is taken... so maybe something along the lines of... The Limsa Lominsan and Ul'dahn Cuz-Nobody-Likes-Gridania-Anyway Alliance... No? Okay, lets keep brainstorming.
  11. So. Epic. This needs to be a thing. This is gonna be a thing. Nald'thal is Ul'dah's deity right? Are they based out of Ul'dah? And where is Mysterium based from? I think I remember them being outside of Limsa (I'm too lazy to go look) but if they were in Gridania we would have all three city-states accounted for.
  12. XI:7 will throw in some interest alongside Mysterium. (We are soon-to-be-official allies after all. Love you Mysterium! )

    Nova's 3D stuff

Why did I not know about this thread? This is awesome!! *throws money at the screen* I want stuff!
  14. Okay, so Dustyn designed a banner for our Free Company website. When it was finished it blew my mind. I felt the immediate need to have everyone look at it, and brag that it is on our website. http://xi7.enjin.com/home Don't judge due to the fact there is little actual content on the site. Its my project this week I swear!
  15. If you can see servers, you're getting further than I can get. I'm getting booted out of the first menu over and over.

    Character Art

Hahaha, Garryson has survived by the skim of his teeth up until now. He was weak growing up and couldn't take care of himself, so he's been left with a bucket of scars.
  17. About 8 Years Ago: As a teenager, Garryson joined a crew of pirates that fronted as a traveling circus. He performed in different acts for the circus which held shows in all major city-states and other places in between. He would have met a lot of people who came to the shows. About 5 Years Ago: Shortly before the Calamity, Garryson lost his crew and found himself alone. After Bahamut's destruction, he found himself traveling with a Highlander man. In order to teach him life lessons, the man would run up huge debts then leave Garryson to work them off. During that time he worked all sorts of odd jobs, from cleaning toilets to nannying children. Present: Having inherited a secret stash of treasure from his late Captain, Garryson started up a company called "XI:7." They have established themselves in Limsa Lominsa and have began buying up small businesses and shops. Though they do not claim credit for it, graffiti of their company logo has popped up on buildings throughout the city. Aside from their financial side, lately they have been in a street war with local pirates and criminals. They return most illegitimate goods to the city-state, but keep a share for themselves as a payment for their services. These are all possible reasons to recognize Garryson as he wanders around. Though, recognized or not, don't be surprised if Garryson walks up to your character and offers a job. His need of more employees is also a way for him to meet new people and force them to talk to him.
  18. Final Fantasy X: This one is pretty minor, but I believe I've heard mention of "machina" which might have been used in other games, too, but I forget at the moment. Final Fantasy XII: The Garlean big wigs have armor similar to the Judges in the Ivalice chain of games. Final Fantasy XI: I know I'm being a smart ass, but I have to add it. The races are almost the exact same save for different names, added genders, and the lack of tails on Galk--... Roegadyns.

Really the position, like any position at XI:7, is whatever you want it to be. We'll do our best to facilitate everyone's chosen roles in storylines and events, but in the end its whatever you put into it. RP is interesting that way. Sometimes you have ideas that you try out and are like, "Well... that didn't go as planned..." And other times, "That was friggin' awesome!" So the best thing I can say is to just try it out. If you have fun with it, stick with it. If its not, try something else.
  20. Garryson: "Limsa Lominsa. Why? XI:7 is based there, and we have toys... Really big toys that make things go boom... But don't tell anyone."

    Music!

This is the song that I've been listening to over and over as I develop my character and build up XI:7. ouwCWDbBskU
  24. The stars were beginning to fade. Garryson knew the sun would be up soon. Working quietly, he got the lifeboat ready to go. It was always so quiet in the morning. The air was crisp and fresh. All I've ever done is run away. No one could ever count on me. But little by little... I grew up. I learned what it meant to be a man. What it took to live in this world. After that man had saved me, I started to follow him around. Neither of us could explain why, but... he taught me things. Most of the time in the most uncomfortable ways possible. He would go into a town, run up a huge tab on booze and women, and then leave me to work his debts off. I can't remember how many jobs I worked, but it taught me the value of gil, and what it meant to work hard. The old man hardly ever taught me direct lessons. He would just put me in a situation and expected me to learn something from it. But there was one time... it was different. I don't know why it happened, or why it happened when it did. But its a lesson I could never forget. "I-I-I'm c-c-c-cold!" Garryson exclaimed as loud as he could, his arms hugging his bare chest. The old Highlander stood stoically a midst the blizzard they had traveled into. Snow was the only thing visible in every direction. He too was shirtless and smoking on a pipe. The worn looking man looked over to the shivering, skinny teenager. "Because you allow yourself to be so. The weather has no effect on you." "That d-d-doesn't even m-... m-make any sense!" He waded through to snow to get closer to Garryson. "Because you make excuses to give up! If anything is uncomfortable or painful you let yourself quit! You take in every single thing around you and let it weigh you down. Stop blaming the world for who you are... It is your blame alone." Garryson bowed his head to hide the snarl on his face. Those words stung deeper than any wound he had received, but he was beginning to realize that he was right. All his life he had let outside influence bring him down. "H-how..." Garryson looked up pleadingly. "How do I stop?!" "You get up." the old man growled in response. "As long as you can keep getting on your feet... no failure is too great. You try again. Until the world can no longer effect you... that is when you begin to effect the world." He knelt down to meet eye to eye with the boy. "... Never stop moving. There is no stopping in this life. Time will always move forward. Keep moving. Don't get left behind." The old man stood up and looked down at Garryson. "You always talk about being a hero... So what are you waiting for? Get up. The world is waiting for you." Once he had finished talking, the old man walked away, disappearing into the snowfall. Garryson let warm tears sting his eyes. His body wanted to just lay down and fade away. With a low growl, he fought the urge. The noise became louder and louder. He forced his muscles to respond, to obey. With a defiant howl, Garryson got to his feet. His body felt warmer, his resolution more solid. He looked around to see where the man had gone. There was no sign of him. Garryson stood in the snow for a long time, waiting to see if he would come back. Finally a laugh escaped him. He always found himself waiting on something. There was no more reason to wait. Taking a deep breath, he pushed forward through the snow. That was the last time I saw him. He would always disappear for a while, but then he'd always come back. Its been about three years since that night. I have no idea if I'll ever see him again. Garryson lowered the boat into the water. It wasn't going to be long before he was finally back. He didn't know whether to be scared or excited. As he rowed away, he watched the old torn up ship slowly sink into the water. Pain filled his chest as he remembered the night the Defiance sank, and all that he had lost. He continued to move forward. There was nothing for him in the past. The stars were all gone now, replaced with the early morning light. With each row of the paddles, the sun grew brighter and brighter. This is the story of a boy. A boy who feared the world, and everyone in it. It was a long journey to see the world through unclouded eyes. There are scars and pain that have yet to fully heal. Though this is the end... The distant shape of Limsa Lominsa steadily grew bigger and bigger on the horizon. A grin grew across Garryson's face. The ending of a story about a boy is merely the beginning of a story about a man. There will always be another story to tell. There is no beginning or end; time continues to create more experience for those that live in this world. Listen to my story. It is about a man who will change the world. I wonder how the story will end...

That would be awesome. I have been keeping my fingers crossed for an executive assistant. We'll hunt you down in game and throw RPs at you. And Dubs, your Roe sounds amazing. This RP needs to happen.
