I remember early on there was a group of people who RP'd that they were their characters stuck inside an MMORPG. Needless to say, I ended up ignoring them. (Not literally with the ignore feature, but I sure as hell didn't RP with them.)

Another loyal soldier of the Empire joins the cause! Are there any more out there? I'm also more than happy to hear from folks that could use a unit of Garlean operatives as potential foils and rivals!

If I find someone whose character bends or breaks the lore my characters will either call them liars, assuming them to be full of shit or crazy, or if they take it too far I just ignore them. A good RPer can work within the boundaries of the setting.

For the 2.0 storyline, yea, its easy to see it that way. But as someone else said, 1.0 really shows more depth into the Garlean characters. Here's a video on Gaius! I'm not sure if this is going to be a FC, LS, or what. I don't want my characters true allegiances to be known at a glance, so I haven't decided yet. Pm'd!

Sent you a PM! I'm sure the vast majority of people in Garlemald are the same as any other nation, it just so happens to currently be ruled by a government with expansionist policies. Even then, the Emperor and pretty much every major Garlean character we've seen so far has felt that what they were doing was for the greater good of the world. I don't think we've seen one that was outright evil and just wanted to destroy for destructions sake.

It's beginning to feel like most of the people playing Garleans these days are nothing but traitors who have thrown in their lot with the native Eorzeans, or at least chosen to separate themselves from their homeland. I know there have been a few Garlean-themed FCs since 2.0 launched, but they seem to have largely disappeared, and that just seems like a tragedy. The world needs opposition that isn't just mustache twirling evil, and RP will be better for it. I've got a character who's essentially working from the inside out, stranded in Eorzea following the battle of Carteneau and the loss of his squadron, tasked with feeding information back to the fatherland. He's done well so far, but knows a team would serve better than him alone, and though he's wholly loyal to Garlemald he has a personal ambition to rebuild his team from before the war using sympathetic Eorzeans and Garlean expatriates. So, and I realize this is a longshot, I'm looking for people who play/are interested in playing a loyal Garlean working behind enemy lines with the aim to eventually be a foil for other groups of RPers down the road. They can be former members of the military like my own character, Garleans who just happen to be living in Eorzea, or just people who believe a unified Empire is in the best interests of everyone. I want to stress that I'm looking for morally gray characters, people who believe what they're doing is right, not Saturday morning cartoon villains. I'm more than happy to get into further details via PM, but will obviously be keeping things somewhat vague here so as to maintain an air of secrecy. Either way, thanks for reading.

If not, the command might not yet be in. edit - you might have to add 'on' to the end of it. Like /roleplaying on Let us knowwww. Nah, I tried all of those before posting. No bueno. Anyone know if the RP flag can be toggled with a chat command similar to /afk, /dnd and the /nastatus on or off?

You make it sound like wanting to stay within the bounds of the lore is a bad thing. I never got why people felt the need to tie their characters to important lore figures or give them powers on par with people/jobs that are supposed to be legends or extremely rare. It's safer and more interesting to play something original that fits the established lore than try to find ways to bend it to justify your character having X ability. No I'm talking about those people who don't actually care about the person's characters but only initiate roleplay with a person just to question them about why they can do X or Y and hope they find something to point out. They happen more often than you think. I'm just pointing out if he goes for the Alexander idea he will encounter them. I've never seen this happen, not even once. Now if you're including anyone whose character doesn't immediately buy into the fact that your character can do things that they really shouldn't be able to in the confines of the lore, that's entirely different and something you need to get used to.

I'm getting pretty sick and tired of people on the official forums saying stuff like "if you don't want to deal with no housing you shouldn't have gone to Balmung, hurr hurr hurr". I've been on Balmung since 2.0 launch, I'm not a recent immigrant. I shouldn't have to transfer off of the server I've been on since ARR launched because other people flooded on to it.
