The most often server I hear about would be Behemoth. It was one of the servers that a group of people on the FFXIV Beta forums were playing on, however they did not come to the RPC forums very frequently. I do not know how active they are however. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=3649&highlight=behemoth http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=3919&highlight=behemoth These are some of the older threads that may help. But in general I would wait a little before jumping over. The character creation maybe locked for a couple days but SE has said the limits were in place to limit the flood of people in the starting zones, and I expect a new flood of people due to how many haven't been able to get on at all.

For my characters and in my writing it varies based on situation. Most of the characters I play have some form of non-magical training, because magic though powerful still requires expended effort. From some of the books I've read using magic still requires the same effort as if you did it non-magically your just getting to the end result a different way (possibly using a different "muscle group") For in combat healing, this is generally easy, their is less loss of blood/life force and no chance for infection to set in. Of course lodged weapons would have to be removed before healing. For wounds that sat, you have more to deal with such as infection/blood loss these take more time and effort to heal, and the patient may require time to recover afterwards. Poisons and Disease I tend to liken to a battle, a healers ability to fully cure a patient would depend on their strength and knowledge if not strong enough to burn it out they maybe able to delay the effects for another healer to arrive or possibly for the patients body to process and recover. Death is iffy, and I usually wait for lore to see if it is even possible. But from what I've read, it is usually an extremely dangerous task to attempt and only the crazy or ridiculously powerful ever attempt this and possibly survive the attempt. How long the person has been "dead" or how long the person's life was increases difficulty, in the Belgariad, Bel'garion is only able to revive a horse because it was new-born and therefore that wall or barrier he broke was small due to the fact the horse had not lived a life. The wall or barrier he would have had to overcome for an older person would have been impossible.

Is there a way .... (site question)
Torvhan replied to Levi Druthers's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
This is a configurable setting in MyBB. That would have been set by our board admin, couldn't find a default time, looks like its normally disabled unless it is enabled by the board admin. So you would have to ask for the time limit. For those admin types who are curious or run their own boards: Go to: ACP > Configurations > Posting > and Enter `Number of seconds` for merging in "Post merge Time" option field. You would also need to Add Forums and groups who can post posts one after the other without merging. -

No problem! Updated the list. Haven't gotten to searching through the forum for information yet, besides this thread. Though the more I work on this stuff I worry that K'mana is gonna end up as the local Gossipy Hen. -

So shamans are the keepers of the tribes history and lore, is this passed through oral tradition, or has it been transcribed. Is information on those who have left the tribe hidden or restricted in any way? Couple Character based questions Antimony: Given K'piru's status as a tribal shaman, and also her field of expertise. K'mana would likely have been badgering her for stories often, as well as learning her beginning skills with arcanum along with K'piru's daughters. This would mean K'mana would likely recognize K'piru if she ever ran into her at the guild. Would you mind being written to her backstory as childhood mentor? During K'mana's trial(this occured about a year after dalamunds fall)after tracking down her prey, she refused to make the kill due to a feeling an immediately set out on her foraging. Seeking someone or some piece of important information on where a missing or wayward member of the tribe might have gone. The discovery would have occurred around half a year to four years ago. Before K'mana joined the arcanist guild. Does anyone want to have been "found" or drop information she could have returned with? -

In effort to figure out who my character would know I went through the lists and made a reorganized listing of the tribe, please if any of this is wrong let me know. But I figured it might be helpful to see who is where. On that note this assumes that if you are not missing or have left that you have been spending most your time with the tribe. I realize PC's will be adventuring so you can think of this as more of people who have been around for the past few years. Main Camp The Missing Those who have drifted away, or left the tribe. Amongst finding lost pieces of the tribes history, K'mana feels a constant tug to find those members of the tribe who were scattered. Even if she cannot bring them back into the fold, she still thinks family should stay in contact, and K'mana keeps tabs on every member of the tribe. Note: IC K'mana has not located any of these people, locations are listed for organization purposes. I have nothing for the Keeper branch yet, and I am unsure if K'mana has unearthed any information on K'shenyar yet. A couple closing questions, I saw the shaman's duties but who are the shaman's in the tribe at the moment? Also how is the tribe ruled, what is the role of the elders and what part do the nunh's play in running the tribe? -

Afternoon folks, being that servers are still acting up, I've continued work on the Timeline and Register, focus so far on Keepers tribal history questions to follow: Has Senah been renamed to Kinra? -She is not mentioned in Khaze'to's wiki, only Kinra as the youngest and Kinra is not on the timeline. Is it K'sheynar(timeline) or K'sheyna(Khaze'to's wiki)" Also for timeline updates: Nasha'a is not listed (Nasha's youngest son) Going to go work on estimating ranges for the reigns of the older Nunh's now. -

On another note was playing on lodestone, and looking around for people I knew I searched up quite a few members of the tribes namedays so I'll but updating those on the timeline. By the way, growly, K'raqi's nameday differs between your wiki and lodestone was he born at midnight? Edit: Kinra's birth month is also different. -

I've been scouring wiki's for information for the timeline, and the last location I see is Ul'dah, from K'raqi's wiki our tribe split to escape drought and those of us that fled with K'raqi are the ones who survived dalamund's fall. Course we would have to ask growly on to whether the tribe stayed in Ul'dah or moved back to the desert. As for roleplaying locations, I don't know if we have 100% confirmation on how housing works, but from the video I saw it seems to be instanced zone, i don't know if people have other plans but I think it would be cool if when we have money, we group up and spawn an Ul'dah housing district for the tribe. On a side note: this question made me realize the "Great Migration" was not the trip to Ul'dah but much longer ago *runs to update timeline* -

Yay! Back from sea!! Well as of now the reigns of the Nunh are based almost purely of ~1 year prior to the first birth of a child that I had a date for. Exception being K'raqi as his wiki stated he was 20years of age when he challenged. But I am missing quite a few npc's namedays as of now. Nor do I know which Nunh's were challenged and defeated, all details I'm sure will be fleshed out as we move forward. I'll be looking out for more information on the wiki's or in posts, or if you decide on new dates or information for your characters or npc's I'll gladly edit the information in the time line, I just wanted a better look at span of the tribe and felt this would be something that my character would be working on given her love of the history of the tribe. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: Made a spreadsheet for information on the tribe to help track additions I need to make to the timeline, or information like who "owns" a npc/character. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Asv8lZP7UDQfdGxZSm0tSzR1NFM2Y2ctblozSlNJNGc&usp=sharing -

http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/155505/Hipparion-Tribe/ I worked up a timeline its a work in progress because I only mostly had ages to go by from the wiki's linked from the tribal page, feel free to PM with dates or events you would like to add. Deaths, Time people left the tribe, or nunh challenges and the like ; I'll cram it all into the time line. Blue-Namedays (most people have these for the birthday, not the 5yr ceremony) Green-Nunh's Reign (very approximate, mostly based on births right now) Red-World Events Purple-Release day-present *Edit: I will be gone this week, will be back this weekend and should be able to update stuff then if you PM me anything. -
I am just hoping I can get on sometime today, have to leave for a week tonight, was hoping it would be up, but I'm not surprised with the issues, I've seen so many launch day/week woes for online games that I am surprised the developers haven't all gotten together and exchanged notes on "how to make your login server handle excessive traffic" or "starting zone overpopulation"

Hipparion tribe - organization & discussion
Torvhan replied to growly beast's topic in RP Discussion
Hey everyone, back finally managed to read through the rest of the thread while I and managed to pm a reply to Khaze'to while I was underway. I finalized some ideas while on watch and whittling away hours till we pulled back into port. K'mana Haaz (figured K'raqi has enough mates already, and could use a few more sisters) Early 20s/Late Teens She is a arcanist, though I may focus on crafting. She is at home in the wilderness during her trial she refused to make her kill and immediately departed on her foraging. I am unsure whether she has completed her task yet. Her love is archeology and history, specifically tied to the tribe. The lore of places they have settled and lived, but more than anything she seeks out members of the tribe, whether estranged or forgotten, shunned or otherwise, she feels a constant drive to keep tabs on the once or still members of the tribe that have drifted away or been lost to the chaos, seeker and keeper alike. Though she loves digging through history she feels the blood and family are stronger than tradition and would love to see the splintered tribe reunited, though this is a wish she keeps to herself and does not voice often. -
I'll definitely try and be there with Torvhan, sounds fun.

I am interested in information on the Nunhs in the 40-60 bracket K'thalen, K'haaz, K'bashir to figure out which will be my character's sire. My preliminary idea is a female arcanist who failed the hunt but succeeded in the following trial. I also think she may primarily be a crafter/gather botanist with crafts assosiated with it alchemy and carpentry I believe. -

Looking into making an female alt for the tribe. Still gathering ideas, read through the wiki and thread, there is some info I'd like if you have it that also might be helpful to other people who would like to join as well. Date ranges for the Nunh's would be helpful in determining age or father depending on how your choosing. Having them placed on the tree might be a good way. Ages and such on the tree might also be a good way to check any improbable age pairings for children. Also information on the past nunh. I did not see any link in the wiki for the nunh who would most likely have fathered many of the young adult PC's. I'd also love to say great idea for a tribe, and hope to be able to contribute once I figure out some more. -
Others can answer this question better so I'll direct you to two similar threads I've read earlier The Power of Magic http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=2593 The Mechanics of Magic http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=2595 Hope this helps search engine sometimes seems to pop up every thread so unless you happen to know where your looking it can be hard to find.

Torvhan had become something of a workaholic following Dalamund's Fall. Having found his purpose after the Sultana's speech to the orphans of Ul'dah, he was determined to support the little ones as well training himself to reach his goal. Recently as the children grew older and many began to enter apprentices, and even some lucky few children were reunited with their parents after they returned to Eorzea. Torvhan has found his load lightened, and has begone to take up adventuring with the Blue Skies adventuring company and jobs from the gladiators guild. Helping people he meets as he travels Eorzea. Suddenly finding his day free of commitment, Torvhan starts his morning as normal with morning prayer and weapons drills. After a good workout, he quickly wipes himself off, changes, and heads to the orphanage. Torvhan greets the Matron warmly, and spends his morning and afternoon playing with the little ones and helping around the orphanage. As the evening sun set Torvhan trekked out of the city to a little cemetery, and knelt down at a small pair of gravemarkers to give a status report to his parents.

Torvhan is 100% a gladiator at heart, he grew up in the Coliseum watching his father fight. His skills as a conjurer merely an augment to his combat skills. Basic first aid knowledge is never useless on a battlefield.

The battle of Carteneau, had a great number of casualties, and add to that the disappearance of the warriors of light. A large number of orphans would have been left in Ul'dah. How many of you have characters who are orphans of the calamity, or how many of you left behind children as you were flung through time. This thread is to discuss what happened to these children, how they lived and worked together to persevere. From Torvhan's backstory: (Any comments on the story itself should be directed to this thread ) TL;DR: The sultana spoke to the children shortly after the calamity and the children worked together, older children working to support the little ones fiscally and so on. This left an impression on Torvhan and it is why he is working to become a Paladin, one of the sultansworn.

(( One of the defining moments of Torvhan's life. Open to all comments, grammer or writting tips, or any lore corrections or advice. )) ((Listening to "Distant Worlds returning Home - Answers" as I wrote this.)) Torvhan walked in a daze through the desolate streets of Ul'dah. Gone were the bustle of people hawking their wares in the market and the peal of children's laughter as they ran through the streets. It seemed as if Ul'dah herself was morning her people's loss. Word of the devastation at the plains of Cateneau spread quickly to the city. At first there had been wailing echoing off the walls and throughout the streets, but after a few days, the tears had dried up and all that was left was an empty shell of a once sparkling city. Torvhan entered the Quicksand and looked around, the tables and chairs had been cleared from the center of the room. Sultansworn escorted children into the center of the room, and Miss Momodi could be seen flitting about the room going from child to child ensuring they were comfortable. Torvhan took a place standing against the wall with the other older children. He looked about and wondered, "He had been devastated when he learned of his parents death, but how had those younger children felt? who would take care of them now?" His line of thought was interrupted as a door on the farside of the bar opened and a large midlander walk in. Torvhan started; he recognized the man as Raubahn, a legend in the coliseum and adviser to the Sultana. A few moments later a small sandy haired lalafell entered the room. Torvhan froze, the presence of the sultansworn and Raubahn could mean only one thing...but what could the Sultana want with a bunch of kids. The wealthy of Ul'dah rarely even spared the commonfolk a second glance, no matter the hardship they endured. The petite ruler in all her regalia walked up to the steps leading down into the center of the Quicksand and sat on the floor facing the little ones. She spoke softly but clearly "Children, I know that we have all lost something dear to us on the plains of Carteneau. I know that nothing I say can take away the hurt and pain that this hole has left in our lives. But I do know that our loved ones fought to protect you, and everyone else in our great city. We must carry on and rebuild our lives, to show those that we lost that we still live. As it was honor and duty to protect you and our city, it is my honor and duty to protect and care for you in their stead. What I ask of you is to stand up and live. To support one another and gather together to push foward. To know that my sultansworn and I will always be there to lend an ear, a hand when you need it, that we are oath bound to protect you as they protect us." As she finished she slowly stood up and brushed herself off. The Sultana moved gracefully through the throng of little ones offering a word here or answering a question there as the younger children slowly were filed out of the bar with sultansworn in tow. She approached the back wall where the older children stood as Raubahn reached out and lifted her to his shoulder. She looked them in the eyes as she spoke. "I am afraid, I must ask more of you all. I am sure many of you realize the ugly truths that plague our great city. To survive in Ul'dah it all comes down to wealth, I do no have enough power to support all the little ones alone. so I ask that you lend me your power. I have spoken with my most trusted advisers and have arranged it so that you can seek out the training and apprenticeships to support yourselves and the little ones. Learn from them, the skills you need to live and move foward in our great city. Watch out for and protect one another and the little ones tn those dark places where my sultansworn and I are not. The little ones will rely on you but do not forget to ask for help when you require it." Torvhan left the Quicksand struck by a powerful impression, he knew that the darkness of the syndicate blanketed the city like an eternal night. But amidst it all a small flame burned, one that had reached out to the little ones with it's warmth and light. He thought of his father and mother and the skill they had left him. He made his choice and swore an oath. As that flame protected Ul'dah and her people, so would he shield that flame from the darkness. Resolved and determined Torvhan, at the age of 15, strode unerringly down the familiar steps he had followed so many times before, with his father, to the the Coliseum.

I do think magic is quite prevalent in the world, but the one thing I don't see much is mundane uses for it. I don't think I've ever seen someone fly in any of the games with out some other assistance, the enemy black mages in IX used wings, we have seen that magic can make things float, which is how a couple of the airships have operated (FF1.) It seems that a majority of magic is used for combat, protection and healing in the series. While people turn to technology for mundane tasks.

Okay, that does seem to make a little more sense, and does agree with the affinity for skills we have seen so far. http://imgur.com/a/Lk5bI/all This was posted a few days back and you can look thru and check the affinity of the ability to see which classes and jobs can use those abilities. The original beta forum post has me confused for a second, cause it mentions job requirements but then does not actually provide any information about the requirements for jobs, just which classes they can pull from, ignoring the base class that leads to the job. Looking at them the only thing that seems really strange to me is the monks access to gladiator abilities, which are almost all threat increases, wonder if they are trying to give monk off-tanking abilities. Edit: From the second page of the post a chart has been made which makes it a little easier to see what skills you can use. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsPI9Wq6z6GwdHJEYmR0Qjk4QzV2SmYzVzhYTVdCSkE#gid=0

I'm not completely sure about the validity of that post, I'm also not sure what they are getting at. Are those the classes required to unlock the job cause paladin should be gladiator/conjurer, or are those classes that use cross class skill from that job. A couple things that help validate the gladiator paladin connection vs marauder is weapon selection, skill availability many of the gladiator skills are available for paladin job. And if you select gladiator at character creation it shows a paladin while the marauder will show the warrior job.
