This thread is relevant to my interests! I love TVtropes...totally wasted an hour looking thru them just now Unfortunately Torvhan is a wee baby pretty much and hasn't done much of anything yet so only a few generic tropes apply till I flesh him out more and more stuff happens to him. We Help the Helpless Knight in Shining Armor Chronic Hero Syndrome Bully Hunter I saw a few more I figure will probably be added but as of yet can't really justify them as applying.

It is kinda strange about the beta forum vs rpc but depending on where people find the information is probably where they will end up. Remember that the vocals on the forums are very small portion of the population. Heck I spent 4 months lurking the RPC forums before I said anything. Also a few months after release legacy vs non-legacy will be a moot point. And there should be a fair number of new people going to Balmung (like myself, loved the event so I heading to server where it will all end up ) I still think you guys have done a wonderful job though, only other game I've seen with such a coordinated group, is probably city of heroes. And heck all the google searches I did for FFXIV lead me right to the RPC, well ran into the other group once but haven't seen that site since the servers went down.

Unless my linkshell does it some other way, I think I would condsider it canon after that patch/expansion passed, that way it stays with in-game lore some what.

Love your post! Do have one question though, I've primarily been gathering materials and I've noticed your level increases your chances at gathering. How does your level affect items you make besides having more cp and skills accessible?

Torvhan was too young at the time of the Battle of Carteneau to participate, as such he has spent the first few years living in Ul'dah working as a squire in the coliseum until he was old enough to join the Gladiator's Guild.

Been playing mmorpgs since I graduated high school my first was Star Wars Galaxies, then I played World of Warcraft for 4 or 5 years, but quit when I went on my first deployment. I've tried a ton of others since then, but only played SWTOR for any serious length of time just enough to get to 50. When I was looking for new games to play I looked at FFXIV1.0 but I couldn't find a copy in stores at the time, was probably 4 months before servers went down. ((As for final fantasy itself I have been a fan of the series since I played the original on the NES, I would have to say my favorite was 8, though I will admit 7 was a better game, I perferred 8's story. Haven't managed to sit thru 12 or 13 fully yet though.)) When I got to highschool I pestered him about the game I also remembered playing and learned about Shadowrun, after that I went out picked up DnD and learned how to play and joined my uncle's regular gaming group.))
