Even if the scroll is a little overwhelming for a newcomer (I wish there were chat addons that would let me use different colors for characters mine is conversing with or SOMETHING), I am liking what I see of the community so far! Hey if the two ladies I was RPing with see this, my computer just imploded! Poor bootcamp'd Mac is a little uncomfortable with gaming. It's because you're linking to the picture "album" instead of the image itself. Okay, dumb (maybe) question. I tried to put screenshots of my RP characters in my signature, and obviously I did it wrong but I can't figure out how to do it right! halp plz?

I. Basic Info Characters:Yumi Kasanui, Winter Willow Primary character:Winter's actually my main, but Yumi's my Balmung character. Linkshells: none yet, am newb to Balmung. Primary RP linkshell: none yet, am newb to Balmung. [*] II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Uh, I'm not really sure what the standard of measure here is. I'm a busy full-time worker with other hobbies who doesn't have tons and tons of time in-game and likes to play OOC/OOCish sometimes too. But... I also enjoy ongoing storylines and get bored if it's all tavern chit-chat all the time. So I guess.... medium? >.> Views on RP combat and injuries: Yumi isn't especially feisty. I'm okay with RP combat if it's fitting a storyline, not so okay with someone just randomly showing up trying to chop off my character's arm or something. I would rather you let me come up with any injuries my character might get. Views on IC romance: I am REALLY gun-shy about this because of a terrible experience with a RP partner who blurred the IC-OOC line and got REALLY creepy. Hell, Winter's married to my IRL fiance's character. Won't say "never", but please don't take it personally if I don't have my character show interest in yours for OOC reasons. I just like to know you decently well OOC and have a good seperation going between players and characters. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Just ask! If you're looking to be a sibling/parent/other close relative and you're not someone I know well I'll probably be hesitant just 'cause of how much coordination is involved there. However, if you wanna be Yumi's second-cousin-twice-removed or her old acquaintence from Doma or something like that, I'm probably game. Views on lore: Lore is the shared base material we're all building our characters from. Sticking to it is how we make sure our characters mesh well together, and outright breaking it is essentially asking other players to change up their character's reality on a moment's notice. That can be pretty rude! I think players should strive to fit their character as well within the lore as they possibly can, and if they have an idea that REALLY excites them that isn't possible without a little lore-bending, at least make it a fun story for other players to engage with! It's not like anyone's gonna be impressed by your half-dragon angelic demigod anyway. Well, I transferred my character! All you Balmung people can look for me in-game as Yumi Kasanui, lizardgirl mage!

Balmung char creation is getting seriously ridiculous. Even when Gilgamesh was still open Balmung was already closed. "Getting"? I'm fairly certain getting into Balmung has always been an ordeal. I managed to get my characters in during that short maintenance window two or so years ago and it's only gotten worse since then. Isn't it basically a given at this point that you'll have to transfer if you want in? It's been this way since a few months before Heavensward where you might have had <5 min after maintenance. Ever since HW, the only time I've seen a creation window is for <1 min or the server is crashing big time. It's pretty much a given that if you want Balmung you need to transfer. And Balmung has always been worse than Gilgamesh in terms of when you can create a character. Yeah... at least when me, my fiance, and my brother-in-law created our characters, we could reliably get in on Gilgamesh at around 3-5am EST... but Balmung would always be closed. Our friend on Gilg who drew us into the game told us to ABSOLUTELY jump on character creation on Balmung if I ever see it open. Hahaha. Told us that was super rare.

I haven't been on Balmung yet (waiting till my secondary character hits the 3-day mark lololol) but Gilgamesh has a decently active RP scene if you find it easier to get into that server! http://www.gilgamesh-rp.com/ to get access to some of the linkshells, and then just watch for open RP night announcements. I know my FC-mates are doing RP nights at least twice a week!

I tried to remake my new character before AND after the latest maintenance on Balmung, and nope. As soon as the servers came back up and I was able to log into the game again... Balmung is closed. Oh well. Transferring!

If I may offer the standard suggestion for transfers: make a few and transfer them all over at once. That one-time fee lets you bring over as many over from one server to the other as you want, so you can bring your second character over plus some placeholders for if you have ideas for other characters in the future. That isn't a bad idea, but do you know how that works with the cheaper sub that only allows 1 character per server? That's what I'm currently using since I'm busy IRL and can't really handle a lot of alting like I used to! ^^; Do you get to designate which one's active or something?

Hi! I'm new to this forum, not to RP in general and sorta not to FFXIV (though I don't have a levelcapped class yet?) I've been maining my Sea Wolf girl on Gilgamesh server with some old RP buddies of mine! However, I don't like how caster gear looks on her and I don't feel like magic classes are all that IC, so I made a second character that I'm planning to transfer to Balmung soon! Hope I'll meet some of y'all on one of my two characters soon!
