  1. Well to be fair, that's applicable to cats, but miqo'te are fully sentient. It's not out of the realm of believability that a sentient organism could control their limb beyond just instinctive movements.
  2. I... I... this thread. /melts I submit... less sexy and more Disney Princess, but still quite lovely!
  3. As far as senses go, smell is probably a primary one for miqo'te. Elezen are more noted for their hearing, according to lore as you say. Keepers have good night vision for sure. I don't really see any reason they would have a superior sense of taste. Cats IRL actually have pretty crappy taste and can't taste sweet things at all, so if one roleplays their miqo'te like a cat, say goodbye to enjoying cupcakes or cookies. I don't think I'd go that far with miqo'te, though, as I'm not a fan of treating them just like anthropomorphized cats. It's the same reason I don't roleplay any sort of "catnip" effect unique to them.
  4. *shifty eyes* I... actually do this in RP, along with the others in our little circle. Well, not so much new classes as just taking what we know about aether (and... other things) and using that knowledge to come up with different manipulations, different means, different abilities. It's how I thought up Antimony's unique brand of healing, as I had to devise a tradition that would have evolved apart from the Succor of the Shroud or the study of arcanima in Limsa. It would probably piss off a lot of sticklers, I imagine, but oh well.
  5. I would really l like a citation on this, because I have literally never heard this before. Here is the article Zyrusticae is likely referring to. While it's a suggestive study, it doesn't really examine causality, and I would hesitate to claim its hypothesis as fact. I would want to see similar studies across a greater range of species (and not just primates - dolphins are arguably more intelligent than humans, but they have not sacrificed much in the way of physical strength, though they do have the benefit of being aquatic) before considering a causal link.
  6. I still boggle at how bad their servers must be to have to do this. >_
  7. I have no illusions that SE is any different than any other game developer. They think very surface-level when it comes to lore, if that. There's no need to try and convince me of that. Doesn't mean it isn't fun trying to come up with explanations, though.
  8. Thoroughly confused by the wall of faces. @.@ Hildibrand's unbelievable feats that seem to violate all rules of existence in XIV are generally acceptable because the "authors" recognize that there is something very, very strange going on with that guy (and it apparently runs in the family). At times I get the feeling we're watching a smoke-and-mirrors show with the guy; at other times, it seems he has some legitimate "super powers" (so to speak). Probably aether-induced. I wonder if Hildibrand is a primal - the coalesced thoughts, hopes, and dreams of every individual who was ever in distress as a result of a crime and yearning for someone to solve their mystery and give them justice.
  9. Hildibrand is freakishly unnatural. That's kind of the point of his story.
  10. I age my character from year to year, but day-to-day RP is so fluid that I can't really do anything more exact than that. Some scenes that would happen over the course of a day can take a week or more to finish because RL is like that, so I just have to go with the flow.
  11. Your work is always so amazing. I dearly wish you were taking gil commissions again; I have so much of it! Being unemployed sucks. ;.; Still, incredible art!
  12. I can buy this. It has an explanation behind it that's more than just "lol cuz magicz".
  13. Could be applied to lots of things! /randomthought Though personally I've never really liked RP duels except for silly training events with close friends. Love dueling, but usually not for RP purposes.
  14. This has strayed so far from the OP, but... I agree with this post so much.
  15. At least as far as the in-game models go. ^^; *continues to imagine her character(s) in desert-appropriate wear*
  16. I think it's more than a little nitpicky (and rather misplaced nitpickiness) to try and argue the difference between, "Nunhs are rarely Seeker tribe leaders" and "Most Seeker tribes are not led by nunhs". There's no real difference. "Most ___", and there are exceptions to the "most", which includes the U tribe. We're all saying the same darn thing.
  17. Actually, the U tribe isn't an exception to that at all. The statement says that nunh's aren't usually leaders. The U tribe is unusual, but that falls within the statement! It's not exceptional in the slightest! If it was stated that nunhs are never leaders, however, then it would be an exception. *Kicks the English language* Really. Really? All of this down to semantics? *facepalm* I think it's pretty clear what I was talking about.
  18. I'm not really sure I understand what point you're trying to make. SE says nunhs aren't usually leaders. The U tribe is a clear exception to that. Uhm...?
  19. That's your right. I'll continue using both the U tribe and the lore post as valid representations of possible Seeker tribe organizations.
  20. Of course there is. The jest was that SE decided to make an exception to their stated rule and put males in charge of a settlement full of fan service. It amused me.
  21. Did you not do the Amalj'aa dailies? The settlement is raided regularly, and there are dailies where you have to kill tempered... I'm not sure why you're trying to defend the U tribe's strength or whatever. That's not something I commented on. I was simply pointing out the obvious that a lot aspects of the Forgotten Springs were clearly made with cat girl fan service in mind.
  22. Go look at the melanin production of African tribespeople and compare it to that of the U tribe. When you're lighter skinned, the key is to cover with lightweight and light colored fabrics, or you're gonna get burned and probably die of heatstroke. @allgivenover: How many times do I have to say it's a criticism of the U tribe and not Seekers in general? Heck, I roleplay a Seeker and help manage a fan-made Seeker tribe. I obviously have nothing against their lore. But you're being a bit silly trying to claim that nearly naked, bathing cat girls in a Japanese game weren't intended as fan service.
  23. I dunno. It's a tribe of mostly cat girls (marketed to a Japanese audience, no less) dressed in the skimpiest clothing the game has, complete with a not-so-hidden oasis where nearly naked ladies are bathing and flirt with you. It's not a criticism of Seekers in general. But if the U tribe is not fanservice, then I don't know what is.
  24. Yes, yes, but that's just one tribe. Whether or not it's SE covering their ass doesn't matter, because they have explicitly stated that nunhs don't usually lead the tribe. It's funny that they chickened out on having strong female leaders in their fan service tribe, though.
