Adventure's Guild (event proposal)
Chakha Malqir replied to lady2beetle's topic in Chronicled Events
The ledger might work better than the board, in that sense. And there are plenty of tomes about. Just class change to an Arcanist / Summoner / Scholar, and boom! -
I'm only in-character when I'm doing something that involves me being in character, such as meeting a character for something or participating in an RP event. I enjoy RPing very much, but I have other interests in the game, such as leveling, getting Scholar, gathering, fishing, crafting, and generally exploring the world to bother with RPing 24/7 when it brings me no pleasure to emote my feelings in an area where no one is listening or caring.

Adventure's Guild (event proposal)

I think emoting every single NPC might be a little... ambitious. Instead, how about having a board for posting jobs, and the "Host of the Week" acts as middleman/middlewoman for the client. It saves a LOT of work in creating NPCs and allows for a much wider variety of missions due to the reduced time needed to create. We could also have RP missions that make it so that the players have to RP during one of the dungeons (Sastasha, Copperbell Mines, etc.) and perform a special task inside. Also, I'm not sure what the "Intermission" linkshell is, so I can't comment on that. I just mean it as simply being a linkshell to announce the "RP Mission of the Week". Though I suppose, if there are other linkshells, it could be announced on one of those. -
Nothing on Ramuh yet. I am interested to see how they spin his story.

Balmung's Finest: Community Dungeon Crawling Initiative

I'm always willing to run stuff if anyone would like. -
If I may contribute my two cents, I think it is quite admirable of you to be writing novels. I have the talent, but the motivation always seems to elude me. I am, unfortunately, very single and very envious of your husband and Noire's boyfriend. I wish I had a boyfriend like that sometimes... alas. I do concur with Koyu that your character is quite attractive in the looks department. That might end up getting you into trouble one of these days, I'm certain. Anyhow, welcome to the coalition! Enjoy your stay!

I am very open to any form of chat-based RP. I just don't do well with forum-based RP as the line count is typically far more demanding and I lack the patience to maintain such things. In chat, at the very least, the setting is pre-established and individuals can act and speak much quicker in succession. While I am not accustomed to Voice RPs, it would certainly be interesting to try. Unfortunately, I am rather uncomfortable with any form of voice chat, so it may take time for me to warm up to the idea. Feel free to add me on Skype if you would like to RP with Virgil: hakuro.de.killer

A very fascinating read, thank you very much for sharing! There will also be a DVD movie with the Collector's Edition filled with even more lore from 1.0.

If nudged properly, Virgil could end up being very villainous. While he loves Eorzea and Limsa Lominsa, he does not condone blind hatred and the slaughter of lives when alternative methods could easily be utilized. The way many have spoken of the Sahagin, the Goblins, and some of the other beast races is downright cruel and arguably bigoted in nature. Indeed, they may worship the Primals rather than The Twelve, but to kill them over something so trivial is foolishness, though Virgil turns a blind eye to it because he can empathize with the Eorzean fear of the Primals. However, if he were sent to take out a group of one of the beast races and there end up being innocents in the area of one of those beast races, he will likely defend them rather than defeat them. To harm innocent life, even if it is of the beast races, is wrong. With unintelligent life, it is justified in that it is hunting for food and materials. But hunting life that is clearly intelligent and sentient just because views on religion are not the same... that is despicable. For the greater good of all, he would sooner fight to defend all innocent goblins, sahagin, and others, as their persecution is what drives the conflict when diplomacy and negotiations for peace would cause much fewer losses of life. The beast races summon their Primals not out of blind devotion, but out of fear of humanity! Of that, I am absolutely certain. How else would one explain why the sagely Ramuh despises humanity so? Because humanity is a conquering force. If given the wrong series of pushes from the wrong people, he would perform a face-heel turn against the adventurers in order to force the Eorzean government to hear his pleas for peace talks.

Adventure's Guild (event proposal)
Chakha Malqir replied to lady2beetle's topic in Chronicled Events
I do have some ideas for how this could happen. -Events should take place at an actual Adventurer's Guild. Maybe alternate between Gridania, Ul'dah, and Limsa Lominsa? -At each of these events, newcomers can get Linkpearls to an "Adventurer's Guild Linkshell" in order to keep tabs on the bigger RP events? -For some of the bigger events, maybe establish multi-man teams out of the random pool of RPers that are available, "encouraging" others to RP together as they complete their guild mission? -Permit Free Company recruiters to host certain events (scheduled in advance) in order to recruit potential candidates for their Free Company? Shouldn't be the "exclusive" event, mind you, but it would be nice to showcase some of the RP Free Companies in this way. -
Adventure's Guild (event proposal)

The fact that this would be every Sunday is greatly appreciated, as I start classes again in a couple weeks and my schedule is ridiculously booked during the week to do anything other than study and quest a bit in my downtime. -
I was having a hard time trying to find a song that best appealed to my character. A really hard time. Sure, there are many songs I like. But they don't fit well with his personality at all. I eventually found one. kbf8apLdQTc Due Fiumi is a vocal reworking of a song from Suikoden II. More specifically, it is the theme song to a town known as Two River. The town, which has a split river running through it (hence the name), is ruled by three houses of congress, each representing their respective race. The humans, the kobolds, and the wingers. This alliance of races is shaky at best. The humans and kobolds are on shaky terms, but cooperate with each other, while neither of those races shares much respect for the wingers at all. During the events of Suikoden II, however, through the main character's actions, all three races begin to understand one another and develop much stronger bonds of kinship. With Virgil's backstory of being a halfbreed Keeper/Seeker Miqo'te, this plays well into the conflict between the two tribes' gender biases and that, in time, Virgil could be the one to aid in the renewed kinship of the two tribes. The melody itself is only slightly more uplifting than bittersweet and is also very serene, much like Virgil. The melody seems to speak of wisdom and experience in its gentleness, being the ideal music to relate to a magical user, especially that of a healer. The only part of this music that may not fit is its slightly tribal undertones, which unlike many of his Miqo'te brothers and sisters, he is not as he was born and raised in the city.

Any of these character types out there for RP?
Chakha Malqir replied to faceman7381's topic in RP Discussion
I have a character design *very* deeply rooted in the lore of the game. To summarize: Virgil is a young Arcanist wise far beyond his years, entranced with the study of all forms of magic and ultimately become a scholar. When the Arcanist Guildmaster disappeared, Virgil set off on a journey to find his mentor and bring him back to Limsa Lominsa. He is a halfbreed between the two Miqo'te tribes, but doesn't think speaking about that is relevant. -- If you would be interested in roleplaying, I'll be on the Balmung server. Hope to see you there! -
Virgil's ultimate goal is to become a Scholar. This has been his dream since childhood. When he was younger, Virgil didn't like being outside during the day due to the glaring brightness of the sunlight and the immaturity of the other children. So he mostly stayed indoors. His father decided, as Virgil wasn't interested in regular "kid" stuff and he wanted his son to grow and mature, he asked his friend, the guildmaster of the Arcanist's Guild, to watch him while he was out fishing. Ever since, Virgil spent every single day within the Arcanist's Guild, reading book after book on a wide variety of subjects. He also watched and looked at the guildmaster with the highest esteem as someone who was really smart and knew everything! This never truly stopped until he was 16 years old. He had since borrowed many mannerisms from the guildmaster (imitation is the greatest form of flattery, after all). However, one day, the guildmaster took him down into the deepest part of the Arcanist's Guild and told to hide until he came down to get him. Everyone then left. He could hear horrifying explosions outside and he did exactly as the guildmaster had asked, at least at first. After a couple of hours, he was afraid of what may have happened to the Guildmaster. He then left the box and headed back up and outside, trying to look for him. It was then that he looked up into the sky. It was dark, with a rain of fire crashing down over all of Eorzea. Too frightened to move, he just watched as his home was under assault from this horrifying force. It wasn't until the assistant guildmaster pulled him away and, summoning her Carbuncle, used its wind magic to divert a massive fireball into the sea. Virgil couldn't believe what he was witnessing. After the battle was over, Virgil noticed that the Guildmaster had vanished, and no one had given him a straight answer as to where he had gone, either because they had no idea themselves or to spare Virgil's feelings. He didn't know, but he did know that he wanted to become a scholar in order to find the guildmaster and rescue him from wherever he is. While he doesn't like the idea of the assistant Guildmaster taking the place of the Guildmaster until his return, Virgil does acknowledge that she will do some good, and that the position is only until the guildmaster returns. If anything, Virgil's goal to become a Scholar is to find his mentor, the Arcanist Guild's Guildmaster. His Arcanist studies have made him powerful and highly knowledgeable about magic of many forms, but he continues to study the other disciplines in order to get a better understanding of how all magic works. As such, he has studied the way of the Conjurer, and developing a better understanding of how Conjurers use the power of nature to channel their magical abilities as opposed to an Arcanist whose magic comes from the symbiotic relationship between Arcanist and Carbuncle, and has even chosen to study more about how a Thaumaturge harnesses his magical abilities by channeling one's own spirit into pure magic to be molded by a thaumaturge's scepter. He has even witnessed what happens in the events that a conjurer does not form a bond with nature and decides to use the power of healing despite that, and how it eats away at the conjurer's own life force. The pursuit of knowledge and the investigation into the disappearance of the Guildmaster are both top priorities of his, and he will use all of the magical energy he can access in order to find out the truth.

I think the biggest problem with this is that it requires heavy phonetic description so it is not horrifyingly butchered. I'd say 5/10, because while the name does have that problem, it at least sounds lore-friendly. Character name: Virgil Manentyv Character is Miqo'te, though he was given his name by his godparents, a Hyur male and a Roegadyn female. Virgil is in reference (OOC) to the poet Virgil, who wrote the Aeneid and several other great works. In character, Virgil is reference to a similar figure, also a Hyur, who lived during the Second Astral Era. Manentyv, "Moon Thief" in the Roegadyn tongue, has a double meaning. It speaks of his father, the Seeker who stole the Keeper's heart, and the mother, the Keeper who stole lavish gifts in order to propose to the Seeker male.

I'm absolutely afraid of touching the macro system. Not because it's not convenient or anything, but because I always get this temptation to bind /say commands to each of my abilities, which would subsequently piss everyone off.

Heya, so myself and Renliss stumbled upon the Gilgamesh Server's August 18th RP Get-Together... except we're both on the Balmung server. If anyone is interested in having an RP event from now until the wee hours, both myself and Renliss are still present and awaiting other RPers! The meeting place is in Apkallu Falls in Old Gridania! We're here right now, so show up when you can!

Wait, I thought this WAS for Balmung... I'm in the above meeting spot, but in the Balmung server.
