Anstarra Posted April 10, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2015 So. All that happened. Right now, those of us done with the MSQ are able to walk around and talk to NPCs and things seem to be kinda covered-up or hush-hush. Like when we talk to the Paladin trainer and he speaks of the Sultana and their "illness". And yet, if we recall the whole banquet that was happening and that got so dramatically interrupted, there were MANY 'nameless people' in attendance. People of import, no doubt, probably rich merchants, Monetarists, Royalists. Folks with connections, and import, in their own purview. With this in mind, how long can we REALLY expect to believe that the grand crime will remain a secret? Even if the true author of it remains muddled, THAT SIMPLE FACT was made (loudly) crystal clear before an audience of at least dozens of the city's luminaries. They gasped, they were shocked, etc etc. There is no single way in hell none of these people are going to spread that story around. Even if it was on pain of death - and let's face it, the Monetarists have no real incentive to hush it that tightly - PEOPLE WILL TALK. I'm not saying it's already happened, but I think pretty soon it would come out. Thus, my question. How long is long enough, for us to wait until word on the street is out? I'm not saying the WHOLE TRUTH will ever be out... but to know about the murder? THAT should already be common knowledge, if you ask me. It's farcical to imagine no one who was there would talk. Like, 'So Bob, you were there, why the heck did Raubahn flip his shit?' 'Oh, Sam, WELL he was just told that-' I mean come on. I don't know if this' been addressed in another threat comprehensively, if so I apologize! I'm just wondering how soon we can stop pretending to be blind, deaf and dumb. Maybe within like a month? To allow most players to pass the MSQ? Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted April 10, 2015 Share #2 Posted April 10, 2015 You can be sure that anyone who was in there is either shutting up, in jail or a target of Lolorito's cadre of assassins. I'm honestly surprised Ul'dah isn't just littered with corpses. Y'know, just the kind of thing that someone who's unscrupulous and access to the TRADER'S SPURN would love. Link to comment
111 Posted April 10, 2015 Share #3 Posted April 10, 2015 You have not considered the alternative. What if Nanamo really is recovering from the poisoning? As far as I remember, the Warrior of Light never gets to check the body. Lolorito was careful to detach himself from the deed, using Teledji as an intermediary. He might have done this just to force all of Nanamo's allies out of the city, so he can rule, with Nanamo as his puppet. Link to comment

Melkire Posted April 10, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 10, 2015 Think we've had a number of topics on 2.55 you could sift through for opinions, though we're open to another, I'm sure. You don't need to revisit Ul'dah to have information fed to you about what is currently taking place. I'll be very surprised if it's 100% about Ishgard and we don't hear so much as a peep from the other nations' leaders nor a bunch of comments along the lines of: "The citizens are growing increasingly restless with all of the rumours flying around. A great majority are already of a stout opinion that there is more going on than a mere 'illness' ". Link to comment

That and there are poisons that do mimic death, tricking all by the best in medical technology that we have at our disposal. I wouldn't be surprised if Eorzea had some equivalent of the puffer fish poison. Link to comment

Enla Posted April 11, 2015 Share #10 Posted April 11, 2015 Eorzea has puffer fish if I remember my fishing log correctly. Question is, is it the kind with the similar poison that literally can trick people into thinking whomever ingested it has passed on. Still, the fact that it IS in there does make me lean more to the idea that Nanamo might very well be alive. Thanks for pointing that out. Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted April 11, 2015 Share #11 Posted April 11, 2015 I'd have to switch characters to check my fishing log, but I want to say that the Eorzean puffer fish is supposed to be an out-and-out expy of the Japanese one that murders people just for looking at its flesh funny. Link to comment

Blowfish A saltwater fish that, when provoked, blows up to three times its normal size to intimidate the would-be attacker. It is also known to have an organ which contains a potent silencing poison. Weak Silencing Potion An unstable concoction which induces temporary loss of voice. Ingredients: Blowfish, Quicksilver, Bat Wing So no, puffer fish in Eorzea wouldn't have that death-like affect on Nanamo. Morbols and Belladonna on the other hand... (I've used a similar concoction as a sedative for intubation/surgery in an RP before.) Sleeping Potion A concoction which instantly induces deep slumber. Ingredients: Morbol Vine, Belladonna, Quicksilver 1 Link to comment
Yssen Posted April 11, 2015 Share #13 Posted April 11, 2015 It is not covered up. Well. While we can tell from NPC dialogue that people in Ul'dah are trying to suppress what happened, dialogue out side of Ul'dah says tells us it is not working well. Both Baderon and Miunne know what happened, and more than a few other NPCs also talk about knowing what is up. While the full details are probably shrouded in a haze of misinformation generating from Uldy, not everyone is buying it. The NPCs are talking, and the Syndicate is not strong enough to suppress people not in Ul'dah. I do not think the misinformation and silence on the part of Uldy is to prevent people outside the city-state from knowing the truth or talking. The NPCs are putting out a story to prevent the situation from getting worse. They know what happened, but the streets would run red with blood if someone with authority confirmed it publicly. It prevents further chaos. To be fair, the conspiracy is not concerned with what people in other nations know. The other nations cannot act with out basically going to war with Ul'dah. My personal prediction, Uldy is being Black Wolfed like Ala Mhigo. Someone (or someones) on the Syndicate is allied with the Empire. Chaos is being spread and a powder keg primed for eventual Garlean takeover. Random details in spoilery tag. Someone bribed an imperial infiltrator's way into the Flames. The sudden discovery of Omega in areas previously combed over by the Empire while searching for Ultima. Lots of issues thrown around or created to prevent the elimination of the Castrums by the largest ground army holding city-state. It all weirdly fits. Scarily so. Whee. Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted April 11, 2015 Share #14 Posted April 11, 2015 I'm still convinced that it was an utter failure of sound military judgment not to seize and hold Castrum Meridianum when we had crippled it, demolished its garrison, and decapitated its leadership. If that is not the prime opportunity to raise the Eorzean flag from the parapets, then I don't know what is. Link to comment

Potent Sleeping Potion A powerful concoction which instantly induces deep slumber. Ingredients : 1 Quicksilver 1 Ochu Vine 1 Desert Saffron * * * Ochus are essentially more potent than Morbols though. So yeah. Link to comment
