g0ne Posted April 27, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2015 I'm not sure if anyone has done this before, but it would be awesome to have a competitive event in teams with an ultimate prize for the winners! Simple, it would be a competition consisting of teams required to do specific tasks and solve clues and stuff! And then teams who come last get eliminated! Anyone like this idea? I'd personally love it. But here's the thing I was thinking. I know there's a lot of shy RPers out there, and I'd like them to take part in this too. So... the teams will be teams of 4 or 2, with half experienced RPers who have been RPing for a while and half new or shy RPers. Suggestions and opinions are welcome. I will add polls for things I think are better decided by vote as ideas pop up. Okay, people! Go! Aye or Nay for the event idea and other suggestions start! P.s How do you edit polls? Edit: My phone hates the font. -.- Link to comment
Steel Wolf Posted April 27, 2015 Share #2 Posted April 27, 2015 I adore the idea of putting new RP'ers into an event with those who have been around a while, either in-forum or in-game. I think perhaps the only really major challenge would be locations and level disparity....unless you perhaps hire several "security guards" to slaughter baddies nearby to keep the staging areas clear. Overall, though, I vote yea! Very cool idea. Link to comment

Nero Posted April 27, 2015 Share #5 Posted April 27, 2015 What is the criteria for "well-recognised"? Number of posts? Reputation? Date registered? The RPC itself contains a number of smaller, mostly self-contained groups. Is someone well-recognised even if they're only considered such within their own friend group? What if someone is heavily involved with the community in-game but almost never posts on the actual forum? What if someone posts very frequently on the forum but rarely appears in-game? Perhaps a workable alternative might be to simply have people volunteer as "experienced" or "inexperienced" in regards to interacting with the RPC, especially if the primary purpose is to be an opportunity for newer people to integrate smoothly into the community. Nebbs Posted April 27, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 27, 2015 Count me in, I did a treasure hunt event with ilwe some time back and it seemed to work well. Small teams helps with the RP I think. You so pd also do crafting relay events, fushing and special nodes, gather an amount of something, timed dungeon runs. Then string it all together with some grand puzzle prize. Maybe I got carried away. Link to comment

Thank you very much, Nero, for the valuable input. And I apologize to everyone if it came across as wrong in any way, didn't mean it that way. I guess I didn't word it properly. I've updated the experienced RPers part in the first post. Link to comment

Right now I just want to know if anyone will even like for it to happen and participate and stuffs, so it can actually happen in the first place. Link to comment

Aris Posted April 27, 2015 Share #10 Posted April 27, 2015 Hello! I personally love the idea, and will be a great opportunity to meet mix with different roleplayers. Actually when I first saw the title and first sentence, I thought you were hinting towards a Eorzean Athletics type of thing with the Grand Companies against each other or something. An idea for another time, perhaps. Link to comment

Dante Abigor Posted April 28, 2015 Share #12 Posted April 28, 2015 Sounds good to me, as long as the competition is both doable and fair. Link to comment
g0ne Posted April 28, 2015 Author Share #14 Posted April 28, 2015 Of course the competition must be fair and doable and fun. And it should also help shy and new RPers integrate themselves into RP. Right now, I just want to see if this idea gets enough support. Only if it does can I start thinking further. If it doesn't get enough support, then I don't think it can work because obviously we can't have a competition with hardly any people... Link to comment

DoomsdayClock Posted April 28, 2015 Share #16 Posted April 28, 2015 The void cat is very competative...he has done the Runestone and the Bacchus shots based on snagging prizes. I can't see him turning it down. Link to comment
