Sylastair Posted May 3, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 3, 2015 http://www.disciplesoftheland.com/images/wallpapers/ffxiv_wp06.jpg[/img] So! With the many great ideas/things that came out of the Summit, I took it upon myself to take on the idea of the Travelling Training Event. So far, I think the consensus was to do it weekly, and travel to various FC houses and locations to promote RP at varying houses and to give a chance for people to meet new groups and members a chance to spar or receive instruction on a certain discipline! My first thoughts are to have people who can serve as instructors each week maybe to teach either the lance, sword, or some type of magic. We can also have people there to serve as sparring partners to aid along new fighters or even those new to combat RP! The Waystone: One of the big things I personally took away from the Summit was we have a lot of people looking for work, so instead of having Berry handle all the pieces, I would love to outsource a lot of this to other groups so we can all make it a thing! When: Friday, May 29th @ 9:00pm! EST What: A Traveling Training event for the masters and novices to meet up and learn new skills while mingling with others and so on! On top of supervised sparring sessions, there will be two IC classes lead by instructors with knowledge of their fighting style and weapon set! Where: Ward 8, Plot 12 of the Goblet. "The Tonberry Hunting Lodge" Who: While the Wandering Tonberry is hosting this round, all are invited! It is my hope to see a wide array of fighters, RPers and FCs! Why: Because... Training RP is tons of fun! What We have: Two Instructors! I plan to have two "Seminars" for the first event. The first being led by Flynt on "Basic Footwork with Lance and Spear". This will go from 9:15-10:15, with the second class going from 10:15-11:15. Sounsyy has offered to pick up an instructing slot, though I have a back up just in case too! (I will hit you up again Sounsyy on here to confirm ) Training friendly location! We are remodeling the Berry Lodge and facilities to accommodate this event. Hoping to get two private training rooms set up and the front lawn prepped for all the attendees! Servers, Bartenders and Attendants! Tribal Relations (LYNX) has graciously offered to help us with our serving and attendant needs! So when you want to take a break from the sparring and have a drink, indulge in some drink or snacks, or simply hang out for a bit, LYNX will be there to help you out! Training Overseers - Sparring is serious business, and it doesn't hurt to have a few overseers to point out little flaws and offer advice as people are going at it. Overseers would help provide feedback and constructive criticism to those training to help them hone their craft. Peacekeepers - Sparring is, well, still serious business, and sometimes people's tempers can get the better of them. Peacekeepers ensure that no one does anything they will regret, and if they do, that they regret it. Big thanks to Uther Skystrider Clementine Whittaker and Jacqueline Henner from Misericorde for stepping up to uphold some order and keep out the riff raff! What We Still Need: Trainees - Come down and learn a thing or two! Get beat up or do the beating! This is all about learning some fun IC stuff and getting to meet others you may never get the chance too! (ALL THE PEOPLES) I have a few people/FCs I mean to contact for these positions from what I heard in the Summit, so I will be trying to set things up soon! 1 Link to comment

Oh I completely agree, and honestly at a great time for us which is why I was so excited! We've been prepping and doing a lot of training for an ongoing plot, and this will really give a lot of people the ability to interact who maybe never have! Link to comment

ShoggMommy Posted May 7, 2015 Share #12 Posted May 7, 2015 9pm but which time zone? Sorry if I've over looked it, I read it a few times and didn't see it? Link to comment
Aris Posted May 7, 2015 Share #13 Posted May 7, 2015 Maybe the FC hosting could arrange the time? That way hopefully EU players won't miss out every week (presuming 9pm is EST/PST) Link to comment
Sylastair Posted May 7, 2015 Author Share #14 Posted May 7, 2015 Maybe the FC hosting could arrange the time? That way hopefully EU players won't miss out every week (presuming 9pm is EST/PST) Sorry, 9pm EST was what I meant (updated the post ) but yes!!! I don't want this to come off as "mine" or any particular person's event. This is for all of us, and whomever hosts can set the time, place and etc.! Now, for organization and coordination purposes, I would love to have a group of those willing to put a bit of time/effort together to work issues out should they arise and so on. As I said above though, that is more for administrivia than ownership. I see this being the communities event, not mine, so I love the idea of certain events being at times that could accommodate EU players! I would like to put a small linkshell together (I know, another one?!) for those who wish to get involved with running/coordinating this event, and am actively on the hunt (both IG and out) to find FC's and groups of people to help fill in these positions below! So far I am super excited about the reception we are getting for this, and the feedback, so please, keep it up and let me know where you see yourself plugging in! Link to comment
ArmachiA Posted May 8, 2015 Share #15 Posted May 8, 2015 I'd like to extend the Night Blades to be put in the rotation for training areas :3 Link to comment
Sounsyy Posted May 8, 2015 Share #16 Posted May 8, 2015 I could nominate Sounsyy as a shield (and maybe sword) Instructor? Or part time Peacekeeper when other weapons/styles are being taught. I do have coil on Fridays though ending at 10pm usually. So not sure I could attend every time. Link to comment
Melodia Posted May 8, 2015 Share #17 Posted May 8, 2015 I can't teach or train anything but I want to participate as a student/trainee. Link to comment

If you would like, even though the event starts at 9, we could always have your block of instruction start at 10ish, and have another person teach 9-10, then you 10-11! We can be kind of fluid with it, but if you are interested I will publish the training people thus far and get a sign up sheet out there for people to see! I can't teach or train anything but I want to participate as a student/trainee. Hey! This wouldn't be any fun if we didn't have people there to learn! I hope to see you there. Link to comment
Sylastair Posted May 13, 2015 Author Share #20 Posted May 13, 2015 Sorry all, work has been killing me this week and I've barely had time to mismanage my company to my usual extent. Expect a big(ish) update with roles we have filled, a rough schedule and more things and stuff. *Flees work responsibility* :cactuar: Link to comment
Sylastair Posted May 20, 2015 Author Share #21 Posted May 20, 2015 Sorry for the delay! Post updated and I will continue to work getting this together and coordinating with those needed. My hope is to get this settled soon and then put up an IC ad for the event (either in here or separately!) soon! Link to comment
Sylastair Posted May 25, 2015 Author Share #22 Posted May 25, 2015 Updated again! Big shout out to Tribal Relations (LYNX) for stepping up to help us and offering up some people to come and serve as, well, servers! The event is still on, and things are REALLY coming together. I want to thank everyone for their support and for really getting behind this, as well as everyone who cam to the FC Summit, and Erik for putting it all together so stuff like this could happen. Also, (while I am in shout out mode ) to the Night Blades for offering to be our next gracious hosts! I will try to pester you soon and help out however I can! Link to comment

Sylastair Posted May 29, 2015 Author Share #24 Posted May 29, 2015 NINE MORE HOURS!!! It's today folks! The Tonberry's cleaned up the front yard, Flynt and Roger have prepped their class, LYNX will be serving up a storm and Misericorde will be keeping the peace! It's only fair since it is the big day to give the final reveals of what to expect tonight! "The Fundamentals of Footwork and Movement" - This class will be taught by Flynt Knoltros and Roger Holmes, and intends to give new and veteran warriors insight on the importance of proper footwork and movement as it relates to close quarters engagement. The class will begin at 9:30pm, and the doors will be closed after which. While training and overseers will still be outside providing overall instruction and monitoring sparring sessions, this class is intended for those interested in learning more about the basics of movement and importance of good footwork. GIFTS AND STUFF - Since it will be the inaugural Travelling Training Event, I decided to splurge and buy a few things to give out to some lucky trainees, servers and overseers! It's nothing too fancy, but door prizes always make things more fun when you are getting punched in the face! A REAL NAAAAAME - So, I said early on I wanted to make sure an idea this cool had an equally cool name. Unfortunately naming things isn't always my strong suit (See: My dog is named 'Dog') but I worked long and hard (well, for a few minutes and moderately) and decided to go with a theme that I think has worked so far on the server, and that people really enjoy. We have the Grindstone. We have the Runestone. No travel related event would be complete without... A WAYSTONE. I know, not much out of the box here. BUT! We have two things going for us: Fri-Sun is now totally stoned. I am open to name changes should someone word more good than me. So this is what I have so far peeps. But I want to reiterate that this isn't my event, it's OUR event! So if you want to see changes, get involved or have suggestions let me know. Other than that I am excited for tonight, and I will see you all in a few hours! Link to comment
