OttoVann Posted May 5, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2015 So I was hoping to make a thread with people who possess engineering knowledge and practice it IC. Otto isn't much in the way of a strict definition one, but I suppose you could say he possesses a lot of materials knowledge in regards to fabrics and precious metals. Anyways I dont think there was an engineer focused thread, so here it is. Tell us that you are one and what you specialize in so I can poach some of you IC for reasons. Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted May 5, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 5, 2015 Chao is a magitek weapons engineer. She specializes in alternative power sources, miniaturizing existing tech, and doing things with combinations of Allagan and Garlean tech that are probably illegal. Link to comment
Cliodhna Eoghan Posted May 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 5, 2015 clio mostly focuses on airship work now, specifically the fleet belonging to the red wings'. she's trying to further enhance the ships things such as stronger hulls, the ability to carry bigger weapons and a way to make the ceruleum used more efficient to name off a few projects she's putting them through. her and kurt (assistant/apprentice) are also on a joint project with a couple others helping them develop a personal sized airship. clio also has a background in garlean based magitek and still tinkers with it; mostly that's weaponry but there's other forms such as steiner that was more for fun. she's also interested in expanding her knowledge of allagan tech. ChewableMorphine Posted May 5, 2015 Share #4 Posted May 5, 2015 Flynt dabbles in cybernetics, prosthetics and anything akin to it. Although all construction is done by the lab boys he commissioned in Revenant's Toll. All he knows is what plugs in where and how to fix it. All details are his nerds' work. Link to comment
Aaron Posted May 5, 2015 Share #5 Posted May 5, 2015 Not exactly engineerish but Aaron has studied weapons with moving parts and looked for all he could on gunblades. He also reads a lot on magitek weapons because he likes anything that has moving parts in it. Link to comment
Askier Posted May 5, 2015 Share #6 Posted May 5, 2015 Once upon a time, Askier was the number one bomb maker in Eorzea from the Garlean Empire. Oh yesh, he was an expert in improvised weapons, large pay-grade weapons, and even aether bombs, oh he could make them all better than anyone. He would strut around in a red coat full of so many pockets holding so many grenades, one wrong move could have leveled an Uldahian block. And then on day he exploded. Rest in Pieces, little guy. So if you need explosives, talk to Mihk'a. Kid is like Askier's protege or apprentice or something. I dunno. Weird, Garlean magitek cats Link to comment
FloriaRaine Posted May 5, 2015 Share #7 Posted May 5, 2015 One of my alts that is currently being remade is an engineer/techie/tinkerer. Link to comment
Mercurias Posted May 7, 2015 Share #8 Posted May 7, 2015 Soren Walker is an airship pilot who has gone through most of an apprenticeship as an airship engineer before he was conscripted. These days he enjoys to tinker. His specialties are mechanical and chemical engineering. He likes to make things with moving parts and things that go boom. I would describe Soren as having more practical knowledge than higher level theory. He can build some simple things on his own, but he shines when it comes to improvising repairs or 'just-crazy-enough-to-work' modifications on the fly. Sometimes literally. Link to comment
Ruran Posted May 8, 2015 Share #10 Posted May 8, 2015 Locke is a mechanic and budding engineer. He deals mainly with clockwork items (mammets and such) but has been getting more into magitek and airship technology. Link to comment
111 Posted May 8, 2015 Share #11 Posted May 8, 2015 Evangeline makes grenades, mines, firearms, and small mechanical devices. I think lots of RPers have already been on the receiving end of her projects. I base her gadgets on more science oriented stuff, rather than techno wizardry. So she has no knowledge of magitech (as of yet). She is however, more than a little steampunk, and is working on things like automata, and powered armor (making steam from water and fire crystals). Leggerless Posted May 9, 2015 Share #12 Posted May 9, 2015 Lynx would likely be an industrial engineer. The current research she delves into is the optimization of systems. Examples include facility layouts, weapon designs, mechanical processes, system evaluations, and eliminating waste of resources. Statistical analysis and mathematical equations, in addition to data from multiple sources and her own observations, are her means to an end. She's significantly more theoretical than practical. She tries to solve dilemmas without Aether and has knowledge on magitek and airships. Link to comment
