fallout 4 - E3 presentation

The game looks good and I was really excited about it, but... the main character has kinda broken the experience for me ;_;

This is the first Bethesda game where I can't really choose who I want to be. I can't say I'm looking forward to playing a grown up woman who had a husband and a kid *sweatdrops*.

That...is a very tiny portion of the backstory present only in the tutorial level and likely never brought up again?

I mean, there's a guy on another forum I'm on who bitched about that exact same thing. Why is it so difficult for people to wrap their head around the concept of "ignore parts of the game/story you don't like"? Hell, it's stock in trade of what we do here on the RPC.

That aside, while I would love to have that physical pip-boy, I'm pleased/satisfied that you can still use the app on your phone to mess with inventory. And all the other features, dear god: pistol-whipping, finishers from Skyrim, some sort of interactive QTE-like battle events, powered armor that's an actual mobile suit (and features HUDs and shit to boot =D), guns that sound/look/feel legitimately powerful. Oh, I'm so ready.

That's the targeting system that was in Fallout 3. VATS, I believe it was called. And if the shot was going to kill something, it did that same sort of dramatic shot to show it.

I'm actually wondering it the significant other and kid are going to play any role in the plot, myself. I mean, it seems like a lot of time creating the parents and dynamically generating the kid... only to have you end up as the sole Vault 111 survivor as they said. "Hey look, here's all this need dynamic generation we did on your kid - oops, he got nuked."

At the very least, I'm expecting him to be the leader of the Boston mutants or something. I dunno. I'll probably still give it a try to finally try making my Fallout 3 punchman again, regardless. Just gotta hope Fisto!! still exists, or an equivalent piece of equipment.

If you have a PC I'm sure you will not have to wait that long before their is an "alternate start" mod like skyrim/new vegas had.

Either way, it's not that big of a deal, easy to ignore.

I can only ignore it if someone releases a mod to mute the main character, and if the story doesn't constantly bring the character's background up. Somehow, I have the feeling that the character is more important in this game, being voiced and having actual scenes.

I'll be crossing my fingers for mods, naturally.

I've said before that FO3 never really lured me in but my god I'm hyped for 4. Please be as amazing as this looks, please! I also don't mind the nuclear (hah) family background, even if it does feature in the storyline, but that's just me. :)

I know about VATS, and what they showed was a whole lot more in-depth than what's existed previously. Mostly you just get a slow-mo of the round entering the target to the accompaniment of an exploding body part.

Then again, I don't normally use melee weapons so that may be why I'm not familiar with any possibly existing finishers of the like.

I'm a huge Fallout fangirl..And honestly I just don't understand the "I can't play who I WANT TO PLAY".  That's just silly xD.  There are so many exceptional games that don't let you customize everything about the protagonist..Just seems like a silly thing to be critical over >.>....

*hops away, shouting as she goes* FALLOUT 4 LOOKS LIKE EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED AND MORE:cactuar:

Can't say I'm particularly thrilled that my character will have a predetermined background, especially one involving a husband and child.  It annoys me when developers try to force emotional baggage onto your character as if you the player are supposed to care. In the end though, I'm still gonna get the game and I'll likely still love it.

You kind of are supposed to care? It's there to help build a connection between you and your character, to make them more relatable.
