RiniKett Posted February 23, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 23, 2016 Wayfarers of Eorzea Thread (WIP) Wayfarer's Rest: Poetry Competition Are you ready to rhyme Eorzea? The Wayfarers of Eorzea will be hosting a poetry competition on the 10th sun of the second Astral Moon. Wayfarer's Rest will be remodeled and fitted with a stage for our contestants to recite on for a chance to win a few prizes. This will be toned down from the Bard contest, with the poetry contest being judge by one thing and one thing only...Poems. Rhythm, flow, meaning, skill, all will be taken into account but you will be judged by nothing else; not your clothes, race, or even performance! Shy readers are encouraged to come and shine just as anyone else. The rules are simple, sign up, show up, and showcase your poem in the allotted time. Many contestants will compete, but only one will be our 1st place winner. Signups can be done at Wayfarer's Rest or contact L'rinhi Kett by Mogmail. We welcome any who would like to attend to support their friends or just to watch the event unfold. Participants drink free, yes FREE, for participating in the event. Patrons who come to watch will have access to our bar and restaurant as well as several door prizes! Door Prizes: TBD 3rd place: 100,000 gil 2nd place: 175,000 gil, and a set of music boxes(housing items) 1st Place: 250,000 gil, a set of music boxes(housing item), a Bluebird (ingame pet), and bragging rights! We look forward to all participants! Take care and good luck! -------------------------------------OOC---------------------------------------- Where: Plot 58, Ward 6 of the Goblet When: 7:00 PM - Until it finishes CST, March 10th Good Morning Everyone! Or Good Evening, Good Afternoon, or Good Night! This is the second contest for the month of March and we are now doing Poetry! This was an event that was brought to us back before we merged with the Eorzean Institute. They wanted to put one of these on and now we are here to deliver! Unlike the bard contest, we are not judging anyone on anything except the poem itself. That's right, your character can be nervous, loud, obnoxious, anything you want as long as the poem is your poem. Unlike the Bard Contest, your entry must be created by you and presented through your character. Here are the facts: Signups are to be accepted no later than March 9th, 10:00 PM CST. That is the deadline. PM me here, via the RPC, with the entry form filled out and a copy of the poem. We would like a copy for the event so that we can look over them while judging if the event becomes too loud. You can find the 'form' set up at the bottom of this post. Please make sure to sign up ahead of time! Participants must be present at the event at 7:00 PM CST. The order participants will go in will be announced at that time. If you will be late please contact me ahead of time and let us know and we will try to hold a later time slot for you but no promises. Participants will have 10 real minutes on stage to recite. This should provide enough time for all participants without keeping everyone very late. Poems will be judged by flow, rhythm, and complexity. Though not all poems must rhyme. Emotes will be in yell to separate them from the rest of the emotes that fill the tavern. After performing the judges might ask questions or comment about the poem and its meaning. You must be present at the end to win! Additionally, we have a few standard rules for attending the event and participating: No IC combat or OOC open arguments in the Rest during the event. Please respect other players. Please try to keep the words somewhat filtered. Do not harass other attendees or you may be asked to leave. For those wishing to watch the event take place and enjoy the readings, we will be serving drinks to patrons. We encourage anyone who would like to come to do so as this will be just like a tavern night with some added flavor. Door prizes will be awarded randomly to patrons during the night that are in the audience. We will pick a time during the event, put everyone's name into the Random Name Generator, and then announce it on stage. You must be present to win! Updates will follow within the week to include pictures, updates with judges, and so on. I look forward to seeing you all! And as always, have a good one! 111 Posted March 9, 2016 Share #12 Posted March 9, 2016 There is maintenance tomorrow at 9 PST. I'm actually going to need to either show up a little late or withdraw, as I don't get off work until 5 PST, and would need 15 minutes or so to make it home. Link to comment

Nebbs Posted March 11, 2016 Share #19 Posted March 11, 2016 Nebula did not place but had a great time, even got a consolation prize of a creepy furry thing that clings to her back. Her poem was Frog Lives ※ Frog! ※ Frog, on your log, in the bog! ※ Frog . ※ I wonder what you think of .. Frog ※ If you are happy or you dream as you doze, on your log ※ May Be of princesses with lips as sweet as the juiciest flies ※ With kisses to tempt you, as a Prince, to rise ※ Of adventures in far off lands and dragons and castles grand . ※ I wonder is that what you dream of Frog ※ Frog ※ On your log in the bog ※ Frog . ※ Perhaps you are happy, in lilipad lies banqueting on flies ※ The only choice is then, to slip into a cooling pool in the midday sun ※ Then to snooze on a log till the day is done ※ And in the evening twilight join in the chorus, pom, pom, pom ※ Life seems not a slog, as a Frog . ※ Is this all that you are Frog ※ Frog ※ On your log in the bog ※ Frog . ※ And are we not all Frogs, sitting on a logs in the bogs ※ Settled our lives for the lilipad lies ※ Or do you dare to dream of a Princess release ※ Kiss fate's sweet lips for your hum drum to cease ※ Then take to the stage! ※ ... Lead your own parade" . ※ You ... Frog ※ On your log in the bog ※ Frog ... . ※ ... Ribbit! And a screeny of Nebbs with Creepy! Link to comment
Az'rhyael Posted March 11, 2016 Share #20 Posted March 11, 2016 Had a wonderful evening here last night. Though the temptation overwhelmed and the "Prince of Fools" lived up to his name by stepping in to submit a brief work at the last minute. While it's delivery apparently fell flat, it resonated with a few souls and that was enough for him. Great job with the contest and congrats to all those that won! 3 Link to comment
Syerra Posted March 11, 2016 Share #21 Posted March 11, 2016 I had a great time and really enjoyed meeting everyone. So much talent on the stage last night! I think you'll definitely be seeing more of Syerra around. Thank you, Rini! And congrats to everyone who shared their poetry! (P.S. Thanks, Nebbs, for all the sagely advice before the show!) Aya Posted March 12, 2016 Share #22 Posted March 12, 2016 Thank you so much everyone! This was a really wonderful event, and I enjoyed all of the creative poems that were shared! Thank you to Rinhi, and to the judges Here's Aya's Poem: A Spring Bird's Song O, dear little bird! Sit and sing now for me? Tell me what it is like? What it is you have seen? Just how high can you fly? Just how far can you see? Of where you have come? And what lies between. Of fresh breaking Spring, the fall of warm rain, Of lifting grey fog stirred over the dale, Of rising sun's light 'cross broad open plain, Of winter thaw's sound in deep river vale. Of oceans wide calm and rivers loud roar, Of frost's nipping cold, which drove your long flight From where you were born, learned to sing, and to soar. Now homeward you're bound, after winter's long night And here just to stay, to rest tired wing. So lucky we are, to hear the bird sing. 1 Link to comment
