Hello! My name is Kylie, Or Saika depending on exactly who you talk to.. For this post it'll be OOC. 

 

I decided to join because I would like to move to Balmung and find or create a RP community for myself. I thought this place would be a really good place to start looking as far as the RP goes.  I had some questions though before I moved If anyone cared to answer. 

 

I know Balmung is home to the major RP community, but what about ERP? I've been on F-list for awhile now and I'm really a custom for RP to lead into more mature topics including death. 

 

Next, Ideally, I would like to find a FC that structure in a way that allows freedom of the members to RP like in / on F-list. I find a lot of FCs like to lock down their themes and roles to 1 thing specifically and work hard to build on that, and I think that's cool but I wouldn't want my character to be stuck in 1 place doing the same things all the time. Any FCs you guys know match this?

 

Finally, If I can't find a FC is there any chance of me making my own and people being interested? Balmung is hyperactive with nearly 20K active users daily, Is there any hope for a new FC to start 2 weeks before stormblood?

Edit: I can't select Balmung on the world transfer.. So I guess I'm stuck on Leviathan... great..

Hey there!

 

Balmung is sadly enough locked. Unless you have a character here already and willing to level it up (or wait for levelling/msq skip potions), you are out of luck unless they open up the server again. Mateus however the server to go now I believe!

 

We have quite a few Courtesan FCs, so finding like minded people shouldn't be much of an issue. Some focus more on ERP, others on RP, other's on the aspect of being paid with legit gil for their time and services. So you might find one on Balmung what suits your tastes, when/if they allow transfers again.

First of all the bad news. As you have found out Balmung (as well as some other heavily populated servers) is completely locked for character creation as well as transfers to it until further notice.

We do not know how long Balmung will stay locked like this - could be just a month or two (until the initial expansion-rush has died down), or it could be much much longer.

 

There are discussions going on here about deciding on some alternate RP server, but no final decision has been made yet.

 

If you are interested in ERP then Balmung would have been the right place to be....

Just walk in to the Quicksand in Ul'dah and start checking people's search info. If it takes you more than a minute or two to find someone who mentions E/M/RP you are doing something wrong.

Sadly, yeah. Balmung is a bust. Best of luck on your search elsewhere! Mateus seems to be a common destination these days.

As the others have already mentioned about the transfer lock you can try your luck on another server to find what you are looking for. If for whatever reason the lock is only temporary and it is removed soon I still wanted to jump in and answer your questions as well as I think Balmung is still the top destination for RP.

 

If you are seeking ERP or more mature RP topics you would definitely be able to find those via ERP FC's or even just the quicksand which seems to be a hotspot for that.

 

I think most new FC ideas are viable you just have to put the work in to make them successful. There is a pretty consistent churn of FC's that are up and coming as well as declining. It depends on the company how multi faceted they want to be as well, some are specialists but many are generalists too. Just depends what you are looking for.
