Orlog Posted May 30, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 30, 2013 A new, but short, video has been released on Job Actions! As per usual, they've left the information completely free of any explanations. So... what do you guys think about 'em? Are these the regular abilities for the jobs? I can't help but notice how much more bigger and flashy everything is, so I just assumed that said abilities were something extra fancy. Ohh, the possibilities. ...Either way, Bard used her harp. BARD USED HER HARP. Link to comment
Cornet Espoir Posted May 30, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 30, 2013 I really liked how White mage floated off the air when casting holy Link to comment
Mycroft Posted May 30, 2013 Share #3 Posted May 30, 2013 The Monk combo seems a bit clunky, but I suppose that the tempo actually fits the tempo of the current battle-system. Link to comment
Merri Posted May 30, 2013 Share #4 Posted May 30, 2013 Monk is everything I've been dreaming about. Can't wait to get my hands back on Endemerrin. Link to comment
Blade Posted May 30, 2013 Share #5 Posted May 30, 2013 I miss my old Steel Cyclone sound effect. Link to comment
Aysun Posted May 30, 2013 Share #6 Posted May 30, 2013 My thoughts: Wow. I think the only ones that looked a bit weird to me were Paladin (seemed to move too quick/abrupt? I duno) and Monk (seemed to just disappear behind their sparklies). Could certainly get used to them! But.. awesome. So awesome. Link to comment
Varus Posted May 30, 2013 Share #7 Posted May 30, 2013 Pacing of the sword and lance skills are pretty accurate, which was surprising. I was expecting to see crazy, unrealistic flurries of attacks that make bullets look like they were standing still. Comparatively, Monk animations are really, REALLY slow - only a little faster then the axe and lance animations. This is counter-intuitive since heavy weapons should theoretically have much slower follow-up strikes due to inertia. And magic is... well... magic. Meh, it's all phinal phantasy, anyway. Screw physics. Link to comment
Rhio Posted May 30, 2013 Share #8 Posted May 30, 2013 Some very nice animations in there, and an emphasis on things that look neat without adding piles of particle effects on. I especially liked how both Paladin and Dragoon have at least one action that involves turning and stabbing the target, and there's a real sense of gravity behind each motion. I am reminded of how desperately I want Ninja and Musketeer now, but I have faith. (Patience, not so much.) Link to comment
Arlon Posted May 31, 2013 Share #9 Posted May 31, 2013 Very flashy, but good animation for all of the classes. Link to comment

It seems like the Paladin studders a bit compared to the smoothness of the Warrior and especially, the Monk. Worries me a bit since I'm shooting for that Job. Other then that, astonishing animations. Gideon Aryeh Posted May 31, 2013 Share #11 Posted May 31, 2013 Scholar is supposed to be shown at E3 as a job. So looking forward to seeing it. What does a scholar do by the way? http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/62075-Letter-from-the-Producer-LIVE-Part-VII-Q-A-Updates Link to comment

Really wish there was a fast dps dual sword class though. Link to comment
Ryanti Posted May 31, 2013 Share #14 Posted May 31, 2013 I honestly couldn't tell you. Kinda came out of left field despite the rumors. There should be some form of informative post on the Lodestone I suspect? Link to comment
Varus Posted May 31, 2013 Share #15 Posted May 31, 2013 According to FF wiki, Scholars are like Red Mages without the sword/dagger skills or the armor flexibility. In exchange, Scholars have a wider range of Black and White Magic spells than Red Mages. Link to comment
Renna Posted May 31, 2013 Share #16 Posted May 31, 2013 I'm thinking my DRG and MNK are going to get a little more playtime at launch Link to comment
TheLastCandle Posted May 31, 2013 Share #17 Posted May 31, 2013 I'm a big fan of the Black Mage casting animations, myself. That was the standout for me. Link to comment

Orlog Posted June 1, 2013 Author Share #19 Posted June 1, 2013 Yeeeah! I was re-watching it today and I just noticed how much BLM moves around when casting compared to the WHM. Pretty cool! That being said, I'm pretty happy with the glow of the staff when the WHM casts, but the animations are nothing special. Now if only we could get a little sneak peak of Scholar and Summoner animations... Link to comment

Considering how we used to basically just stand there and move one arm it's awesome to see them whipping the staff around with the wind blowing the robes and stuff.~ Link to comment

Perhaps it was a little over looked on my end because of how tiny that WHM is. I'll have to watch it again in HD to get the full effect. Link to comment
Aysun Posted June 1, 2013 Share #22 Posted June 1, 2013 She is super tiny. I cannot confirm nor deny that it looks much cooler when it is not so tiny. Link to comment
