-waves- Hello, I'm Chime. I've mostly played Guild Wars 2 but maybe it's the Quarantine talking (or my cousin talking about FFXIV) but I'm missing it. I loved the story line, at least how far I had gotten before, and honestly I'm just bored with anything else I've played. I have characters on both Mateus and Balmung but I'm not sure which to play and I'd like to stick to one. Pros/Cons? Are there other servers that have good potential? 

 

I'm not one of those players that zooms through content, I like to take my time and really get into the lore. I'd love to even make connections through the story line as a continual rp but I know a lot of people focus on the present/latest content. Either way, I'm looking forward to playing again.   • I've played several, but mostly WoW in the early 2000's and GW2 since 2012-present.

  • 15+ years, in other games. I RPed for a brief time in this game but it's been a while so I don't remember much. 
• Character ideas/info
  • I love Au Ra and once I read about the tribes, I was hooked on Xaela. I'd really like to get into it, I'm not picky on which tribe. 
• What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? (e.g. Light, medium, or heavy)
  • As of right now, more of a light/casual player because I do want to focus on the game and learning it. It's hard to RP in a world you don't know much about but I would like to make contacts and eventually get into it
• Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc.)
  • Hmmm, I'm 30? I know, I'm old. Lol

Mateus and Balmung are the most popular server choices for RPing. A change was made to FFXIV a little while ago allowing players to visit any server that's on the same Data Center, so both of your characters would have access to the same RP events since Mateus and Balmung are on the Crystal Data Canter. 

 

In practical terms there are no real cons to sticking with one character in FFXIV. In fact, the game encourages it. 

 

Most players will endorse the idea of taking your time with the game content and enjoying the story, especially if you're sinking your teeth into the lore. If you find yourself falling in love with the setting of FFXIV there are lore books you can purchase like the ones made for The Elder Scrolls series! ^.^

Welcome! The only thing that really matters when it comes to choosing your server is FC's and LS's, as for which I'd say Balmung probably has more active and established RP ones at the moment, but Mateus does have a decent sized RP community of its own, so it's really more up to your personal preference.  If you're less concerned with having a variety of the RP FC's to choose from, you can easily play on any server on the Crystal Data Center thanks to world visits. You can play on your server of choice, then visit Balmung, Mateus, or any other server on the data center whenever you want to RP somewhere specific.
