Anyone pre-order FF14 from Gamestop?

I just realized that my receipt did not have the early access codes on it. My friend said that happened to him as well and they gave him a excuse saying they are gonna release the codes at a certain date before the early acess and they have the people listed or something which he called bull on and got his codes (After some arguing no doubt.) I wanna know if anyone else had to deal with the a similiar problem with their pre-orders? I will of course call the store and talk to the manager before calling corp and heading down to the store.. Nothing to go crazy about ya know.. Paid for it and then not receiving what is suppose to be given to you? (Like dealing with excuses like my friend had to deal with.)

I had a similar issue with my local Gamestop. The chick behind the counter basically said that they ran out of codes and SE was gonna email them to people or something. After talking to my bud who worked for GS for a couple of years I confirmed that was bs. I ended up cancelling my pre-order while letting them know I was taking my business to amazon because they still had codes. 30 mins later the clerk called me saying that she figured out how to get the code. It was a barcode next to the register that she had to scan LOL :lol:

 

Just let them know that you don't mind taking your business elsewhere and they will usually shape up haha. I know GS employee's get marked down when anyone cancels a pre-order under them. (which sucks!)

They kinda deserve it though. I had to deal with this with an old game I pre-order (Think it was Tera) And I just received so much bull I had to call corp and get my codes. They have the bad habit of giving their customers crap to deal with you know? I think I'll go in-person tomorrow instead of calling do what you said cause I really don't appreciate that kind of stuff in general, kinda person I am.

Yeah not till the 20th.. I'm just worried cause Gamestop has the bad habit of being lazy and giving excuses so I don't trust them one bit, I'll feel safer and not jipped if I have the codes on me and ready to put when it is time.

I preordered my copy the day it said they had them in stock were taking preorders and got a code on my receipt for early access and what not. I was just sure to bring it up while I was paying for it rather than assume that they would give it to me willingly.

Yeeah.. I should have known better, especially since this happened once before to me. Heh.. >_<

Checked out the beta forums and it seems a lot of people who ordered from Gamestop have been having some issues getting keys. Most people just were never given the key and had to go back to the store to ask for one w/ some of the gamestop employees not even aware there was an early access pre-order key.

Lol.. Then there must be something seriously wrong with the gamestop I went. They had a about life size cardboard character saying "Pre-order FF14 and get a fabric banner upon release!".. -.- Which I fell for.. Who doesn't want a fabric banner?!

From what I have gathered GS has had this problem with every single customer (barring a few lucky ones). I have a friend who works at GS and she didn't even get her code with the pre-order. She had to go later in the week and get it herself (scribbled on a scrap piece of paper). It sucks that they go as far as lie to (I'm guessing) keep from having to look the information up, but if you are afraid of not getting the pre-order code on time just order from Amazon. They send you an -mail right away with your code, otherwise you have until the 20th. THE CLOCK IS TICKING! Good luck to anyone who is having problems and see you all soon ^_^

My original receipt did not have it either. Simply go in and let them know, they will print it out for you.  I went in about two weeks later and put more $ on the pre-order and the guys said he has to go in "the back end" to get the code.  whatever that means...

 

But was no big deal.

"The back-end" is the inter-dimensional door that leads to one of the 7 layers of hell (depending on the region the gamestop is located). Law offices also a similar "Back-end" door.

This made me choke up my smoothie and laugh quite a bit.

 

Just letting you guys know I went and got my code. (It is only one code for everything right? early access and in-game items?) but they gave me the excuse that they gave my friend so.. I had to talk to a manager about it and the whole associates shouldn't make up fib stuff. I got my code though! I'm a happy camper! I officially learn (the hard way) Not to trust gamestop stores unless I'm bros with them?

My receipt had a code, i already had an existing 1.0 account but i opted to add the ps3 copy to my account as well because i wanted the physical collector edition goodies that came with ARR.

 

i do hear alot of folks dislike and/or have issues with various gamestops.

I guess I've gotten lucky though as the ones I Deal with ive been dealing with for years and trust the folks at them, most regular ones know me by name and my interests/tastes and based on that when they talk about the stuff i can generally feel out if they really know what they're talking about.

My GS's have good people, its a shame that they can't all be like that :/
