MISTELL STORIES

Recommended Posts

First time in a naughty rp ((FFXIV:ARR)) and I happen to be doing it with my irl husband....I MTed the worst scene ever in /say in the middle of Lower Limsa City something about DT and choking. He ran away and I logged while laughing the whole time out of embarrassment  with him screaming in the background "WHY DIDN'T YOU HAVE PARTY CHECKED?!!!!!"

win! WIN WIN!!!!

LMAOAOAOAOOAOOAOOOOOO

THIS WOMAN BETTER GET AT LEAST +5 REP FOR BEING THIS COURAGEOUS TO POST THIS STORY xD

Oh God I don't think this will be trumped for a LOOOOONG time *dies laughing*

MISTELL STORIES NO REGRETS >xP

I do what I can to please the populace. I will let y'all know of any other scandalous MT's that I happen to make. They'll all probably be juicy because lets face it; that the only time a MT seems to happen to the shy ones ROFL.

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions about other people, but be super careful about when and where you tell people this! If other people like said person that you don't, people are petty and may decide to make this an issue. It happened before in WoW, and it wasn't even too bad. There's an easy way around it of course, just don't interact with them.

I personally would never ERP in game, there's just so many ways that can go horribly, horribly wrong with mistells. To the people that actually do it, you are much braver than me. I think i'll stick to my single chat channel for that one, eh?

Thanks for the laughs, guys!

I slipped and put something in say, and my heart literally dropped to the floor. I ran out of the building that we were in to see if anyone was in /say range...there was one person, but I think he/she was afk...Or at least I hope they were.

In my last MMO, which was Tera, some friends and I had a personal rule: "ERP in /say or not at all!" But this was to encourage people to take their dates somewhere more romantic or thematically appropriate, like a remote mountaintop to "cuddle" under the stars, instead of ERPing in whispers while in a circle in the middle of the main city square.

I haven't really RPed in FFXIV yet, but from going around questing and leveling, it doesn't seem like the game has similar remote locations that don't feature in at least a few quests. I don't know how well I'm going to be able to follow the old rule whenever I get around to it...

Not to de-rail the thread, but I wax nostalgic about 1.0 for this very reason. It seems like in 2.0, nearly every location has an express purpose in the game.

1.0 Thanalan caves were my bread and butter for the Wandering Mages (A small RP group at the time.) and the fact that Tam-Tara had its own Aether node speaks volume as to its size before the world reshape.

Ah to make the journey to Long Root again...

It's not particularly difficult to figure out what is socially acceptable and what isn't where ERP is concerned. A loving couple cuddling each other beneath the stars and whispering in each other's ears is a lot more acceptable than someone emoting a wench sucking a guy off in a bustling tavern.

I'm a pretty tolerant guy, but MMO's are not a playground for people to act out their deepest, darkest fetishes. It's important to take at least some responsibility and not just brush it off as other people 'having different thresholds'. That's just a cheap cop out. I say this as someone who isn't afraid to touch upon mature themes myself.

On ERP, I think it's just polite to not... do that in /say. But I think the line can get blurred on when exactly you should go to party or whisper. I mean, the sex yeah, but a kiss? A hand hold? Some people really don't like it when you do PDA in any form in roleplay (Which makes me feel kind of bad for people who have IC SO's) and a lot of people assume that that stuff is part of ERP - which I don't think it is.

I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, but a little PDA is just fine. Gotta let others know that your actually, you know, dating :P

Eh. I think people can certainly show PDA and make it completely PG or PG-13. That shouldn't offend people--or I wouldn't think it would, at least. Val constantly has his arm around his lady to make sure others know she's his. I've seen others kiss, hug, and cuddle/hold hands in /say and it doesn't bother me. It's when you turn the corner and see someone actually doing something that's a tad too much =p

This, basically. If it's something you don't want to see people doing in public, or something you don't want people to see you do in public, then it doesn't belong in a public chat channel (and no... not even in /say or /em in far off corners of the map where you think you're alone... with what Jana mentioned earlier about the "ERP in /say or not at all rule," I'm beginning to understand why RP on TERA quickly devolved into a cesspit of glorified cybering).

Holding hands and kissing is fine. Some teasing and making out is pushing the lines if it gets graphic or is any place too public (just think in RL terms; you don't want to see two people shoving tongues down each other's throat in the middle of the mall). Anything beyond that or anything involving genitals should be taken some place private. "Different thresholds" is an excuse. Just because someone doesn't mind seeing it doesn't mean you need to be blind to the fact that it's not socially acceptable. As for ERPing in /say, no one wants to see that, IC or OOC, and I hate to be "that person," but there are kiddies in these games.

A few friends and I enjoyed exploring the "out of bounds" areas in Tera, climbing mountains and sneaking into empty zones that would have been for future content, but were empty. There were even a few times that we got a GM to join us and teleport us to places we wouldn't have been able to get to on our own. It's kind of sad that there aren't any such adventures to be had in FFXIV.

I think you misunderstood me; I started following that kind of rule precisely because I was sick of running through two or more ERP circles while going to the bank in Velika. (Though I hardly needed a good excuse to go exploring outside the bounds of the game to begin with.)

Either way, ERP is always going to be a touchy subject that everyone isn't going to agree on.

Heh, I suspect a fair few people on this site have been cursed by this thread! I was doing a lengthy session of F.A.T.E grinding earlier and managed to get a grand total of five fresh levels as a dragoon. About halfway through this I happened to stumble across a handful of RPers that I recognised from this site and decided to send them a friendly greeting in passing as acknowledgement.

They didn't respond at first, so I thought little of it - only for one of them to suddenly blurt out 'Ugh, Theodric? I hope he doesn't try and RP with us, he sounds like a dick on the RPC.'

Once they'd realised that they'd made the statement in /say rather than /party or whatever other chat they were using to communicate with each other they swiftly darted off without so much as another word.

Ironically enough, the RPers in question are in a guild that describes themselves as tolerant and accepting! Still, I didn't let it drag me down and found it to be pretty amusing. It's great to see that RPers are upholding their reputation of being mature and friendly...

Oh my God ;;;;;;  That is so horrible. If I saw someone saying that about me I'd log out and likely never come back ever again ;w; How embarrassing it must have been for the person who said it(I mean in fairness, Lament has a point about it being a natural opinion... and it wasn't the rudest thing in the world), but I feel awful for you having seen that. You seem to have just taken it in your stride but ugh, the thought..

Anyways, I mistell a lot myself. A lot. I've said many thing that have made me very, very embarrassed but they are nothing like the experiences other people have talked about in these topics. *sigh* Alas, it is my turn to embarrass myself even if it does not equate.

A couple of times when I was alone in the game just doing random things, I um... kiiinda behaved ICly. That is to say that I behaved as though my character(s) were talking to themselves. So um... they also kinda made it on to the linkshells accidentally and as innocent as they were, my face just sapped all of the blood from the rest of my body as I was so embarrassed.

The last time was just the other day in fact. I was going to attune to the Amalj'aa aethernyte for the HM Titan quest. No-one was around so I decided to have a little fun and sneak my way all the way into the encampment without arousing the attention from any of the beasts. At some point I encountered a tricky situation and decided to have my character mutter a simple swear. Its so simple and nothing compared to these other stories but it still makes me flush so much.

OH WAIT. I did it today as well actually. My friend was apologising for "keeping me waiting" because I was ready to do a dungeon(actually it turned out I wasn't, I just thought I was -o-) but she wanted to unlock it. She said that I should just go on ahead and not waste my time waiting on her but one of the most enjoyable parts of this game for me is playing alongside my friend even if its just trivial quests so I jokingly replied:

"K'nahli always waits for [name]!"

...right into a linkshell. I was embarrassed of course =w= ;; Out of context it made me sound like a little lapdog that wants to do well by it's owner. Woe is meee~

As for the rest of these posts. If there was ANY chance of any of my characters ever engaging in ERP it has certainly gone right out the window! Those horror stories would cripple me for life. I cannot allow myself to fall prey to any more embarrassment, miiii.

I don't think it would offend so much as when you see people in a public place, like a park, walking and holding hands say, some people go 'd'aww, how cute,' and other people just roll their eyes and go 'ugh.' There are always gonna be the people who just don't want to see that. Usually, I don't care on an absolute basis, but I will limit it for the sake of those people, so if any cutesy-ness on my part is going to go beyond a post or two, I'll take it out of public view.

Now innuendo? That I'll just keep right on going. "I'm talking about root vegetables. What are YOU talking about?"

I've done that before as well, almost word for word (except obviously not K'nahli, otherwise I'd be having a serious identity crisis IC).  A couple times it went to public chat rather than tells or guild chat, a couple times it went to an open RP channel.

It actually led to a nickname as "(name)'s Pet", which was meant to be derogatory, but we took it and twisted it around and used it to our advantage like it was a nickname for a favored soldier of a military unit (or like a favored assassin, which was the IC "rumor" that my character was even though she really wasn't...  Most of the time).

I feel like this whole string of conversations requires an explanation.  Or at the very least causes Val to "do the thing" so we know what has Faye so on edge

><

Actually, One part abut that I forgot to mention is that someone in the linkshell replied with:

"Awww that's so cute"

"Sisterly love"

T////T  No! I was just.. waiting!
