Brynhilde Posted November 30, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 30, 2013 The Traveling Templar Free Company would like to extend our warmest thanks to all those kind souls who attended our first speed-meet event back in the Sixth Astral Moon. Together we raised over 100,000 gil to aid those displaced by the Calamity. But their need is still great, and so with your help, it's time to do it all again... Starlight is almost upon us. T'is the season of good cheer, and although we busy ourselves exchanging presents, it remains ever the truth that there is no gift quite like the gift of friendship. Thus, The Traveling Templar cordially invites any and all adventurers to our Starlight Speed-Meeting event! You’ll meet new people and hopefully make new friends, and afterwards there will be mingling with food and drink available. When: Sunday the 15th of December, 6:00pm EST. (Subject to change) Where: The Bobbing Cork, Fallgourd Float, North Shroud. To avoid congestion, attendance is by application only. Details: Attendance to this event is limited. This is purely to keep the event manageable. If you wish to attend, contact either Nadeau Celeste, Ne'ci Aera or Brynhilde Wulf in-game, or PM Bryn on the RPC forums. When you apply, you will be given a number. Please write this down and keep it safe! The event will be run by mods from The Traveling Templar. Before the event, you will be told the name of the mod for your group. This is a charity event held for the benefit of those poor souls displaced by the Calamity. There will be a 500gil In-character entrance fee. (We won’t actually be taking gil from you). Characters will be organised into groups, set up in a structured way so as to get them talking with strangers. After the time slot is up the group rotates and you’ll get a new partner. Conversation with your partner will be conducted in /tell. This is to prevent the undesirable situation of massive chat-log flood. This is not a speed-dating event! For the sake of simplicity, it's simply speed-meeting. Groups will not be arranged by gender (however, if romance does happen to blossom, that is thoroughly encouraged!) Advice: Your character will be conversing with others in 6 minute slots. The use of large amounts of descriptive prose and long emotes is therefore not advised. Come prepared with interesting trivia regarding your character, and make use of the game's emote list. Macros are a good idea! Please refrain from OOC chatter in /say, if you can. To keep the event from going on all night, we will not wait for DC's, bathroom breaks, etc. There will be short breaks between rounds. The speed-meeting is expected to last for just over an hour. The mingling afterwards will go on for as long as people hang around! Link to comment

Hammer Posted December 5, 2013 Share #3 Posted December 5, 2013 Thanks for putting this event together. It sounds like a great opportunity for newcomers like me. I'll take a look at my schedule and see if I can swing it. Link to comment
Brynhilde Posted December 6, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted December 6, 2013 If anyone was curious about how the first event went, you can find the thread here. Link to comment
Gharen Posted December 6, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 6, 2013 I need to think of a reason Gharen would attend this. Hrmm. Link to comment
Brynhilde Posted December 6, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted December 6, 2013 Well, we will need volunteers for various roles. Even if your character isn't the type to socialise, they could be on the door, collecting donations, serving refreshments, etc... Link to comment
Gharen Posted December 6, 2013 Share #7 Posted December 6, 2013 Something like that might work. I'll shoot you a msg ingame next time I see you. Link to comment
Varianna Posted December 6, 2013 Share #8 Posted December 6, 2013 It seems as though I have misread Sunday for Saturday and I am a smelly EU player, so 11pm Sunday is rather late. Could you give me a rough estimate on the duration of the event? Link to comment
Roen Posted December 6, 2013 Share #9 Posted December 6, 2013 I was sort of in the same boat with trying to figure out why my not-a-social-butterfly of a character would attend this, even though I think it's a great idea to get new and old players meeting each other. Roen would definitely be drawn to "helping out the Calamity victims" cause of it all too. She cannot offer much gil, but can volunteer her time for any job needed! Link to comment
Sienna Posted December 8, 2013 Share #10 Posted December 8, 2013 A Sienna would be interested to take part in this! Link to comment
Oroban Posted December 8, 2013 Share #11 Posted December 8, 2013 I'd totally go if I wasn't at work. Sigh. Sounds like a blast, though! Link to comment
Valke Posted December 10, 2013 Share #12 Posted December 10, 2013 I don't think Ciel will like the whole socializing aspect of it. She's experienced it on the first event, but I doubt she'd attend again. But she's always up for helping! If I don't forget, maybe I'll pop and give you guys a hand. Link to comment
LandStander Posted December 10, 2013 Share #13 Posted December 10, 2013 Glad you all are putting this together again. I had a lot of fun the first time around. I may pop up again this time as well ^^. Link to comment
Evie Posted December 12, 2013 Share #14 Posted December 12, 2013 A friend and I are interested in attending, though this one may already be full. I noticed that an application had to be filled out, but I haven't seen it. Did I miss it somewhere or do I have to contact someone? Link to comment

I noticed that an application had to be filled out, but I haven't seen it. Did I miss it somewhere or do I have to contact someone? You only need to contact one of the three listed people, or PM Bryn on here. I'm not sure how many people are confirmed, but do try your luck! Link to comment

Evie Posted December 19, 2013 Share #20 Posted December 19, 2013 Just wanted to say how AMAZING this event was. I enjoyed every minute of it as did my friend. Made some great connections who I hope to hear from again, whether for some kind of larger story RP or even just some social RP. Thanks so much for hosting this. Link to comment
