Howdy

Hi! Everyone, I have been floating around here lurking for a while as I think up my character. Now that I have most of his back-story done. I am to start on his personality and so on. And with that updating the wiki page here. In the next few days I will do so. However in the mean time... I am looking for some RPers to call my friends. I have seen a few around the various areas of Balmung... but none called out to me to have me join with them.

I am not sure if this is because RP as I have always envisioned, strove for, and enjoyed... isn't present here or more simply it is well hidden. The kind of RP I speak of is RP that is heavily founded upon the lore of the realm, RP where PCs aren't in roles that could massively impact or change the existing or future lore of the game, and most of all RP that has objectives, goals, and/or resolutions.

I guess I mean I am looking for RP that is as immersive, entertaining, and fun as the game's own story. I attempted to start my own FC with no takers in the call... So now I turn to you all in hopes that you know of an FC or LS that can help provide what I seek. In return you will have a loyal and helpful RPer among you all.

In case you missed it in the other thread =) Welcome to the RPC! If you see me around feel free to shoot me a tell. Don't forget to look >Here< at the Linkshell hall as this is a great place to find LS's with cool folks to RP with.

Hey there~

Welcome to the community. Starting an FC is tough if you're by yourself, but good RP that you're seeking is definitely out there! I hope you can find what's best for you. C:

Either way, feel free to add Rhesh'ir Zhwan to your friends. Unless I'm in a dungeon or something, I'll RP anytime! :D

Hello Red,

I'll second what Gharen said about taking a look in the linkshell hall to help find a few groups that might suit your tastes.

As far as "finding roleplay" I think there are a few sticking points most people run into, maybe they're your own, maybe not. (of course this is just opinion, different strokes for different folks and all that.) "The opening line" as it were, how you weren't "called out to". Many people are both RPers and not, some people might be operating a closed story line, heck they might even just be zoned out! In all cases, do not presume that other people will make an effort to include every passer by (this as both a defense against trolls, a prevention of offending some one who doesn't like RP, as well as uncertainty if the people you're with even want to include another person.), Make a point of dropping them a small tell "[hey, hows it going, I was wondering if you guys we're active and minded if I stopped in.]" and follow it up with an emote perhaps (if you feel confident.) "/em tilts his head to catch the sound of the conversation better, his brow perking as the hyur continues his ramblings. Half standing in his chair, Quarimar clears his throat in an effort to draw their attention." This for me provides a few things. It allows them to involve or not as they desire, it allows me to gauge (by their response) how they like to roleplay, and lastly gives me a way to IC continue no matter the response.

but I ramble, anyways!

That is a small welcome post that outlines a few of the major tools here at the RPC if you're not already familiar with them.

Hope you have the chance to meet a lot of interesting people out there, maybe drop in an event or two from the Calendar... See you in Eorzea!

Some great advice given to here already.  As Gharen suggested, I started with looking at the Linkshell Hall to see if any Free Company seems to fit your character's story or background when I first joined the RPC forum.  That turned out to be a good start for me.

And feel free to approach Roen in game.  I am always up for random RP (Except in dungeons)!  (although if I am standing around not saying a thing, sometimes I am zoned out a little.  Then please poke me in /tell)  From one newcomer to another, I can tell you, Balmung RP community is pretty nice and approachable!

*waves* Hello there! :cactuar:

Welcome to Balmung! I've seen the type of roleplay you describe happening all across the server, so I hope you find something that fits you. I'm a lore-hound myself, and strive to adhere to it as well as I can.

If you want to roleplay, sometime, feel free to look up Y'lyfriel Sikah. Cheers!
