They very specifically said that it will drop 14% every six real-world hours, but will max out (in terms of how far it drops) at -50% after 90 days.

It's a typo; the patch notes are hilariously full of them. It drops 0.14% every six hours.

Yeah, I realized that after I posted.  What's more, it's not exponential.  It's literally like 28k off the 20 mil price every 6 hours.  It's just 0.14% of the original price. LOL

Well, Dark Embers is going to continue to work on earning gil to purchase a Free Company house, though we're going to probably go for a Medium once we go take a look and compare them to the large ones.

We will also likely be waiting until the 90 day mark, unless we have some sort of miraculous funding drive efforts happen. Perhaps we should consider this a more long term project?

Small 10,000,000 - 12,500,000

Medium 37,500,000 - 46,875,000

Large 125,000,000 - 156,250,000

Those are the prices with the 90 days taken into consideration. While ten million gil is a big chunk of change, there are several average sized FCs that pulled together around that much over the past two or three months for their housing funds, or close to. While small FC houses might not be what everyone wanted, it may be obtainable if FCs work at it. So the project may still be possible, and the FCs that did make around that much may be able to get medium houses at that point too.

I think when they find that their math (done in Yen, not USD or Euros, clearly) doesn't add up, and that the player population isn't happy with the situation because the majority of FCs can't afford the housing at these prices even after the break at 90 days, we're going to see an adjustment from Squeenix. So perhaps rescaling the project to a 90 day project is still worth it, rather than just giving up and entirely canning it.

please note we will be buying at the same time as our alliance guild The Grim Echo so please consider them as well :)

Took me a while to figure out how we'd gotten on this list when none of us had posted in this thread. xD

What Armi said!

I can be contacted for The Grim Echo, but if you want to be next to us, you want to be next to the NB, too, so might as well just stick with Armi's entry.

Close enough to be downwind from Denn's smell. Perfect <3

The OS&R, while shy of 10mil, will be pushing for a Medium and driving towards it with gusto'

:bomb:

Many of you know Olofantur has the ever helpful RPC guy.  We at the OS&R know him as Q, one of two very special officers we have.  We shall make your dreams a reality, Q!

T_T its not for me, its for everyone. Rest assured that I will continue to toil... i'm determined to make use of some new strategies and observe the markets closely over the next few weeks.

Just a heads up:

Each "ward" (housing instance) has a very small finite number of plots available, and they cover the wide range of prices.

Ul'dah has a total of: 20 small lots, 7 medium, 3 large lots.

There are currently five wards available, making the current total of available houses (In Ul'dah) 100 small, 35 medium, 15 larges.

What this means is that because of the way they said they were going to handle ward creation, if you want a large lot, and instance 1 is where everyone is buying in Instance 1, then you'll have to move to Instance 2 (or 3-5) to pick up a large, where it's possible you might be the only house there.

This behavior does have a bit of a bonus, I guess; you could theoretically 'claim' a ward to be 'RP heavy' by having roleplaying FCs who want to build a neighborhood claim a bunch of houses in the ward and make a note on the Forums to let people know as such. Non-RPers are probably more likely going to avoid buying there in theory, as long as it doesn't become something ridiculous like a bunch of guilds needing larges all of a sudden.

I am a very greedy person, and I hope to claim certain house that I want. I know it'll be a very hard path. But I am personally gaining Gils myself and making money myself so that my FC can have a house of their dreams.

I plan to station my house around Section 4,6 or 7 in Mist. If I am crazy, then it'd be 5.

At least people have 10 million xD

I only donated 1 million so far.

That's really odd. Gridania had way more than five districts up when I was there, though I'm no where near it at the moment so I can't tell you exacts. I had a huge screenful of wards to pick from though, so I'm going to say more than fifteen. O.o

Here's some new information if people didn't see Yoshi's reply to the Lodestone Forum Housing thread.

"Legacy World Price Adjustments

Due to the prodigious amount of gil in circulation in legacy Worlds, we regret that current housing prices may be prohibitive to the following players:

Those new to the game who started on legacy Worlds

Those returning to a legacy World after taking an extended break

Those on a legacy World who have been unable to save gil

Upon considering the feedback we have received since the release of the patch notes, we have decided to make the following adjustments:

Land prices will start at the figures indicated in the patch notes

From January 2014, devaluation will be adjusted every two weeks

After three months, final land prices will match those of World Group 3

* World Group 3 (third listed in the patch notes)

Bahamut / Behemoth / Cactuar / Carbuncle / Chocobo / Diabolos / Fenrir / Garuda / Gilgamesh / Ifrit / Leviathan / Mandragora / Midgardsormr / Odin / Ramuh / Shiva / Siren / Tiamat / Titan / Tonberry / Ultros

Although this takes place over the course of three months, land prices in legacy Worlds will eventually fall to match those of World Group 3. In the event that pricing changes are made to this group, the same will be applied to legacy Worlds.

By adjusting devaluation at set intervals rather than in one go, we hope to prevent a sudden rash of purchases.

The introduction of housing will help to unify the perceived value of gil in each individual World. Furthermore, it has presented an opportunity for us to consider the lifting of restrictions on transfers between between legacy and non-legacy Worlds."

From this information and looking at the patch notes again, this means that the housing will drop down to as starting prices (I'm assuming the .14% decrease up to 50% of housing total cost still applies)

Small - 8 to 10 mill

Medium - 30 mil to 37.5 mil

Large - 100 mil to 125 mil

While still large amounts, things don't seem so hopeless anymore when it comes to FC housing.

When the prices are dropped to match World Group 3, "The Kindred" [TCRP] will be purchasing land in the Goblet, unless we change our minds. We're in the process of grinding money for it, and I expect us to be able to get our hands on at least a small plot.

Our strategy for purchase, unless other RP FC's beat us to it, will be to purchase land in the highest numbered ward available. As an example, if we were to purchase land today, we would be going for ward 5. I hope that this tactic will land us in a ward with room for other RP FC's to take up spaces close to us (going by the logic that people will pick from the top of the list and not the bottom).

OTL

They knew their ways to take our money :C

(I didn't pay for Titan run though lol)

I talked to one of their members.  This is what they did to afford a medium house:

Every member was required to turn in 8 Philo items a day 2 days a week.  The other 5 days, they had to turn in 4 Philo items.  That's 40 WP/AK runs a week just for crafting stuff to sell to get money for the house.

Plus they sold Titan runs (although they apparently also carried some people for free, as well).

A small FC house may be good for small RP companies as long as they only want it for a RP spot/hang out, but in the long run it is a very big waste of money.

1) Can not upgrade, also I don't think you can sell the house later. Only the land I believe.

2) Future updates of things like chocobo raising, crafting area and stuff I think only goes in Medium and Large houses.

I've peeked at this thread a few times with high hopes pre-2.1 and this would have been a very awesome idea to get a bunch of RP companies into the same neighborhood but now at the very differing rates of which people are stocking their gil towards these Scrooge McDuck prices, it would be virtually impossible because its not like we can put certain plots on hold. I really do think what folks have been saying is true, that they bloated the prices to avoid crashing everything which is very sad.

I would think that with all the unexpected cash they had in when they only thought 50k people would be playing would be put to use towards keeping their customers happy. I'm penny pinching even harder now because I can't imagine what explosive price personal housing will be.
