FC housing and a Roleplaying Neighbourhood

I would avoid putting a house in the same ward as them. Several of RareX's members have been griefing roleplayers on Balmung recently, several days in a row. I'm not usually much for mentioning stuff like this, but this is severe/recurring enough to validate a heads up, imo

I'm really tentative to mention this as I don't know how interested people would be in this, but what if Balmung roleplayers and FCs worked together with one FC at a time? I know a lot of people might feel like it's problematic as it'd be an honour system driven manoeuvre, but it's something communities irl here do a lot—large families move into one home, then all save up so that they can split, etc, repeatedly, rinse, lather, repeat, all the while working together for the next monetary goal even after they've moved out—and it might make things feel as if they are moving faster.

 

Otherwise, smaller groups could band together to do as much. Two FCs who want to be neighbors might consider pooling resources until they have enough for both neighbouring houses (a slower reversal of the above mentioned concept), or might work together to save up for one for both of them until they can save up enough for a second.

 

I don't feel that I have a dog in the fight either way, I was just reminded of this useful practise while reading through this thread.

 

Anyone who is worried about such methods should not participate in them.

I'd say it's not for the house per se, but for the associated benefits, like crafting stations, chocobo stables, etc. I remember in Aion some people would buy an house ad leave it completely unfurnished and undecorated, because they only cared about the bonuses one gives. At this point I'd almost rather housing be just cosmetic, eh....

Yeah, they're just after all the bonuses that the FC housing gives. There's supposed to be a lot of them as time progresses, from buffs to quality of life things like the crafting stations, vendors, auction house boards, chocobo stables/breeding stuff, and more. From what I understand, some perks are going to be furniture related, so they'll have to decorate some, but yeah, it's more than cosmetic.

 

 

With the way they've done it beyond that, it's also a huge status symbol so...yeah. Non-RPers are going to want it just to show off how awesome they are on top of having all the perks. We saw some of that in Aion too - though those people tended to decorate a bit.

You might try contacting the officers and seeing if they would do anything about it.  I've gotten stuff resolved in the past with griefers by contacting their FC officers and asking them if they're okay with their members griefing other players.

Whilst I tend to always do that, in this case I suspect one of the griefers to be one of their officers as well. I am not sure I would achieve much more than luring more griefers to the place, if my suspicion is right As such I am not going to risk it.

The guild just bought Plot 11 in Lavender Beds.  Like Rare-X, the plot was 90 mil.  Unlike Rare-X, there are only 5 members of that guild.  

 

It's a medium sized house.  Really pretty!

Last night when I dropped by to give them a housewarming gift (because, it's a guild of Lalas, and they are my Achilles heel!), they said they'd be opening it up once they're done decorating.

Ul'Dah Garden will in all likelihood be getting just a small. We are a small FC, and haven't even achieved getting 2 million gil yet. It's disappointing that housing is so expensive, we would of prefered a medium or large plot. So current plans is to keep gathering what little gil we bring in, and hopefully when the price changes go into effect and the discount is applied, we will have 5 million gil for a small.

Desired Purchase Date/Time: We're looking to buy once plots are most affordable to save funds for future releases like airship building and chocobo stables. So.. probably in 90 days if we can afford it by then. We plan on buying the optimal plot, as we have no intention of wasting money on a house we plan to outgrow (which can't be resold), so it's uncertain how long raising over 100 million gil will take.

Looking for: We're recently reforged and setting up, and really have no set preferences on what FCs we'd prefer to have as neighbours; we are currently considering wards 3 or 4 for our choice of wards. Mostly, the idea of RP neighbourhoods appeals because a few of us saw it work well with Aion's housing ages ago, and we're hoping to see it happen here.
