Afghan Vet 2009 Posted January 31, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 31, 2014 I was wondering if there were any active RP linkshells, as many LS seem to be fading off and are becoming less and less active. Link to comment
Illira Posted January 31, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 31, 2014 A roll-call was done at the end of last year: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=5477 Of course such things can't be kept 100% accurate all the time, but its fairly up-to-date. I believe that the linkshell section of the site was updated accordingly, but if you post there in a thread there and get no response, you may want to send a pm. As not everyone listed there is necessarily checking those thread all the time. Link to comment

Rosekitten Posted February 1, 2014 Share #4 Posted February 1, 2014 I've noticed this actually, or the few LS's that I have bothered to try with just die off over time or seem to be headed by half crazed leaders... =/ Though it's good to know there are some still out there kicking about. Maril Posted February 1, 2014 Share #5 Posted February 1, 2014 The Europa one is still alive and kicking. Link to comment
Nebbs Posted February 1, 2014 Share #6 Posted February 1, 2014 I had a similar thought about the open LS I was a member of For RP I have - Intermission2 & Europa which seem minimally active For PvE I have - Balmung's Finest which has some activity but I never got much action. I had other PvE LS but they dried up The rest are more semi-closed and closed RP LS and one Odin watch etc.. LS. Link to comment
Knight Kat Posted February 1, 2014 Share #7 Posted February 1, 2014 I, myself have realized this as well. Actually, based on what I've seen, many FCs and LSs are having trouble lately. Intermission 2 is an LS I'm on, and it has a great group of people and RPers on it. However, activity does seem minimal. This is because, I think, most people (myself included) wait for the LS to produce activity for us. But the thing is, we need to produce activity for it. If everybody waits for something to happen, nothing will happen. If I had more experience setting up RP plots, and events I would do so. But my lack of experience is making it so I often don't know what to present the LS. I am hoping to change this soon. I always have a lot of plot ideas in my head, but no way to know how to bring players together on it. Yet... Link to comment
Maril Posted February 1, 2014 Share #8 Posted February 1, 2014 This is because, I think, most people (myself included) wait for the LS to produce activity for us. You just summarized the big problem for just about any RP community out there. There's a real issue with a consume-only culture that is devouring communities, people do not want inactivity and nothing happening, but at the same time they do not do anything to combat it, and choose leaving shells and even entire games because not enough was happening. In my FC, I constantly push people to generate their own plots. Character progression isn't something that should happen in a story or background, to me it's one of the best motivations to get a storyline rolling, which generates RP and inspires others to do the same. My FC is doing well, but we didn't push for generating RP then I don't think we'd be doing fine these days at all. We still keep bronze lake active as a hub, but a couple of months in and people are really getting tired of it, I was hoping that there would be more initiatives on the rise following bronze lake, but nothing really seems to be happening - at least not in the EU prime-time. So that we could spread the attention on multiple activities and reduce the chance of people doing the same every weeknight. I can't put my finger on what is causing some people to approach RP with that attitude, beyond knowing that generating events of course mean you have to dedicate the time and effort for it. The sad thing is that, the less people generate, the more it wears out those who do (such as fc leaders and such) because they run out of ideas. Link to comment
