Nebbs Posted August 16, 2014 Share #26 Posted August 16, 2014 ..snip... In my opinion, I think that if we pull together and put a little effort in, we can really improve the lot of Europeans on our server. ..snip... Bryn I agree, especially with this bit above. There is activity, there is desire, so a little "catalyst" should hopefully go a long way. I'm not talking about major extravaganza style events, more just accommodating the EU dimension with a little effort. Link to comment
K'hylia Posted August 17, 2014 Share #27 Posted August 17, 2014 I'd be real grateful if this sort of thing happened. Being in touch with more EU folks would be great! Link to comment
Aduu Avagnar Posted August 18, 2014 Share #28 Posted August 18, 2014 As an EU player, who will potentially have links and ins with Askiers next plot round, I am more than willing to RP with those people that want to get involved with it, but may not match the timezones for the majority of others. Clover Posted August 18, 2014 Author Share #29 Posted August 18, 2014 I'm currently not so worried about RP as I'm about endgame, since as I said, I don't play tavern RP. I've decided I'm mostly going to RP over the forum or privately with my friends; private plots seem the best way to get actual plots running. I will love to attend any RP event, however. And of course, I'd love to be in contact with other EU players interested in endgame as well! Link to comment
Dravus Posted August 18, 2014 Share #30 Posted August 18, 2014 I think one of the main issues that it's easy for European players to slip through the net. I'll be the first to admit that it's a two way street but I've seen both myself and other EU players express interest in a particular project or Linkshell only for there to be no follow up. Then there's the risk of joining what is advertised as an active Linkshell only for it to turn out to not really be all that active or inclusive at all. All too often once the initial wave of players have completed the content that they wanted to complete then there's a chance they won't be willing to run it again with someone new to the sub-community. Though if there's any active Linkshells seeking to do raids and dungeons together then I am definitely interested in getting involved. Link to comment

I know of a few linkshells with members, so there are definitely people there and active. What is missing is the activity in the Linkshell and between the members. There are many reasons why people are not engaging, and I myself am guilty of heavy RP with a very small group. But it seems there are people who would respond.. we just have to try. As I write this (11:30am UK) I have 8 Linkshels and a FC. The only activity is from the Hunt LS. Yes it is Monday morning, but not much changes through the day, and at best it becomes "chat" rather than "RP". I'll try a bit harder to interact, and hope others can too. *hands out RP cake as inducement* Link to comment
Maril Posted August 18, 2014 Share #32 Posted August 18, 2014 The Europa Linkshell doesn't have an inactivity issue by the by. Just felt like I needed to state that, in case anyone is reading this debate as a "Woah things are dead everywhere dude". We do a linkshell-shift to prune inactive members and make space for new ones once every 3 months to keep having space, with frequent pokes for RP going about as it should be, and chatter in between. One thing that any broad RP linkshell/FC/whatever would face, in my eyes, is that different people want different types of RP, spreading both across the light-heavy scale and the various settings, like bar rp, action rp, romantic rp and so on. So, sometimes someone might offer something they think is awesome, but there's perhaps only 5 people in total that's interested in that particular thing, and maybe two of those are shy and don't dare actually speaking up. I can see how that could lead someone to think, if I'm in a linkshell with 100 people, why am I only getting response from 3? And the same thing in turn can make people think like, "I'm in a linkshell with 100 people but no one is ever offering something I want to do". I'm not shy of stating that there's some RP'ers I can't see myself RP'ing with because they do not take the lore as much to heart as I am, and their perception of things would negatively impact my character (leading to ye olde "This person must be insane" conclusions being passed about), and it's not cause I want to be Queen Mean, but it's just how it is - as well as it's not everything I can get my characters involved in due to their skillsets/habits/moveability etc. So but anyways, because EU timezone players are a minority anywhere, I think it's more visible within our groupings. How you tackle that, I don't know, I don't really think you can/should - but maybe it could help a bit on the feeling of things to know what could be a consequence of the many style choices of RP.
