I'm convinced the people who really know what they want to be and reach those goals seemingly effortlessly are just NPCs put here to remind us why we struggle.

That begs the question, what is an NPC? ...if it moves so similarly and unpredictably similar to a person.  The blue pill or the red pill? 8-) This is kind of like limited solipsism. Fascinating.

To find as much happiness as I can until the day I die.

Hear, hear. minus the dying part. You never know, immortality might in the next corner.

To have my own harem full of women like Jewel Staite and men like Ian Somerhalder.

Haha. The current world record for a harem by the way is 16k. Not sure why I know this. 

Life is to be, meaning is to do.. 

 

I suck at meaning.

 

So meaning is the action and life is the condition?

 

Suck at meaning? Do you mean you suck at doing things?

 

It can mean many things..

  • human-being to human-doing,
  • life is a gift, you add meaning to it by what you do,
  • do not ask what meaning life brings to you, but what you bring to life
  • if you prick me do I not leak?
  • it may be alive but it has no meaning

To crush your enemy. To see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.

 

That's what is best, sure, but not necessarily what life is.

 

Could you explain this a bit more? I'm a little slow. Do you mean that we can't achieve the best possible meanings because of reality?

To answer you seriously, though, "best" isn't something easily defined. For one person it might be meeting goals and achieving. For someone else it might just be living a carefree and stable life. There's no high score table in life, and while some folks might want to retire to water slides filled with pina colada, some just want a place to rest their head.

 

The purpose of life is variable. I'm just collecting stories on my way through.

Stories. Ah, stories. 

 

We are like characters in our own stories. Always. No standards. Just stories. Each experience, happy or horrid, a valuable one.

In all seriousness I believe that the meaning of life is to make a mark of remembrance and enjoy the time you have and have used. It can be small or it can be large. But to be remembered is the most significant part of life, based on the human psychology of history. 

 

I'm just going to be remembered for making awful puns, but at least it's something!

I first read HHGTG when I was 13 so 42 will be a forever-answer of mine.

 

Otherwise, for me, life is a work in progress. It's the incomplete workings of pursuing fulfilling happiness. I can only dream that death will be the completion of the work in progress that is my life.

I would like to think that the point of living is to change the world for the better so that future generations may live a better, more fulfilling life than your own.

 

But that's a very high goal, a high mark to achieve, so in the event that is impossible (or as near to it as I can see) I will simply try not to make too much of a mess of things in the mean time.

To ingest nutrients, metabolize them, and pass on your genes.

Then why play videogames? Does it have anything to do with those three?

 

I am not very good at living. That's why.

 

Obviously you need something to do while you're metabolizing those nutrients. Unless you can spend it passing on your genes. But that's a LOT of gene spreading and you need a break every now and then.
