Hey all, new player here!

Oh god, I hope this is in the right place.

 

So despite my tendency to be horribly nervous about roleplaying in general (especially in MMOs), I've decided to take the plunge and try my hand at joining the community here.

 

A little about me: I also play WoW (and SWTOR), and while I have about nine years of roleplaying experience on there, I don't have any in FFXIV. This is something that I really want to change, as I'm really enjoying the game. The roleplaying community (from what I've seen on these forums) seems to be very welcoming as well, which is encouraging. 

 

As it stands, I'm working on getting a better grasp on the lore and setting before I start seriously delving into things, but I thought that reaching out might be a good idea. In addition, I'm pretty low-level (almost 24 in my first class), so getting more gameplay experience is probably for the best as well.

 

(I also like to raid sometimes, and I plan to in the future, but that's neither here nor there.)

 

If anyone's inclined to hit me up, I'm on Balmung as Arcian Martell, and I always welcome friendly conversation or advice.

If it's lore you need, there's plenty of threads on that here! And if there's a specific question you have, feel free to ask. One of us will most likely jump on in with an answer, or wave over Sounsyy to pick at her lore-knowledge.

 

Also, level isn't quite as important in RP situations beyond where you can go and what you can wear. If you're hanging out in Ul'dah for the most part (which many folks do since that's the current RP hub), you won't need to be very high level at all! :thumbsup:

You'll be just fine. Definitely get an idea on the lore, feel free to reach out and even check out the LS or FC for some connections, and do learn what you can. However, just an FYI, I have noted that you don't necessarily have too much gaming experience already in your belt to RP =)

 

Either way, enjoy your time here! And "may the path in the light of the crystal" be filled with many memories and experiences!

WoW gets shanked too badly. It's a great game, and probably the reason we have such games as FFXIV. without it's wild success the MMO scene wouldn't be what it is today.
