Warren Castille Posted February 27, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 27, 2015 You have to have 100 cards in your deck, it lets you make everything 5 star. Based on post count. I think it's 2 star default, 50 posts, 300 posts, 800 posts? I'VE HAD MINE FOR SO LONG I FORGOT WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A TWO STAR PLEB SORRY Link to comment

FreelanceWizard Posted February 27, 2015 Share #5 Posted February 27, 2015 Do you mean the stars by your name here on the RPC? Those are based on post count and other characteristics: 1 star: 0 posts 2 stars: 1-49 posts 3 stars: 50-249 posts 4 stars: 250-749 posts 5 stars: 750 or more posts (Not in use yet) 6 stars (and red name): Benefactor 7 stars (and blue name): Moderator 8 stars (and purple italicized name): Administrator There's no way currently to get more than 5 stars by your name. 6 stars will be something you can donate a certain amount to the site to get in the future, should we decide to start taking donations through some mechanism. FreelanceWizard Posted February 27, 2015 Share #11 Posted February 27, 2015 I suppose while we're on the topic of getting that sweet 6th star and new name color, I can tease a few more things. Assuming we start accepting donations, the exact rewards you get will depend on how much you donate each month. Some of these will also be dependent on the aggregate donation value each month. If, for example, we were to break a particular monthly funding goal that lets me spin up an RPC voice chat server (in addition to a text chat server), a certain donation level would give you the right to have your own private room for your FC, LS, ERP, or whatever. With that in mind, the 6th star and red name would be a fairly low reward tier that remains on your account as long as you donate a certain amount each month. Link to comment

Gegenji Posted February 27, 2015 Share #14 Posted February 27, 2015 I just hope this doesn't lead to folks spamming posts just to get their star count up, Flynt. Though, it does seem most FCs already have their own voice serves on the Mumbles or the Vents and what-have-you. So I'm uncertain how much sway having that as a reward would be, unless I've just been in the few that already have them and it's not actually the norm. ... Seconding the text chat, though. Live-interactions with RPC folks at work for more RPs and even more shirking of actual work? Yesplz. Link to comment

A lot of FCs use guild hosting sites such as enjin and shivtr. These two sites have paid plans that allow you to get a server for mumble or teamspeak 3. Depending on what you pay you get more continuous connections etc. In my experience teamspeak 3 has a better quality of sound (mic and audio) than mumble but the same payment tiers for each has mumble allowing you to have more clients joined. Can we talk dollars and doughnuts here? Roughly how much are we looking at if we did go full-crowdsourced? Link to comment

FreelanceWizard Posted February 27, 2015 Share #20 Posted February 27, 2015 Can we talk dollars and doughnuts here? Roughly how much are we looking at if we did go full-crowdsourced? Very informally (and now I've totally hijacked this thread ), we're talking somewhere around $105 a month to cover our hosting costs and get a real-time text chat server rolling. When/if we decide to start taking donations, I'll be laying all of this out in the announcement post. EDIT: Since some are probably wondering what our exact hosting costs are each month, it's about $60, give or take a few bucks, for a t2.medium Linux, Route53, t2.small MySQL RDS (non-redundant), and transit charges. Maril Posted February 27, 2015 Share #22 Posted February 27, 2015 Would you be able to make stuff for one-time donations as well? I love this site and I'd like to contribute, but I would not be able to pay anything significant over the course of several months because I can't find permanent work - rocking a soon-to-be six month unemployment spree here -.- Link to comment
FreelanceWizard Posted February 27, 2015 Share #23 Posted February 27, 2015 Of course, I'm not saying that "anyone who wants 6 stars and a red name" is in it for $105 a month. That's our total cost. Getting those stars is probably something that'd be more in the $1 to $5 a month range. If I can get 21 people to pledge $5 a month, then hey, we're paid for and chat will be on the way. As for one-time rewards, I do have some stuff in mind for that, too, and I'm also willing to let people "pre-pay" as opposed to "subscribing." Link to comment
