1. Recently I've started using the red panda minion with my summoner, going with the idea its a glamour on their carbuncle. I'm still on the fence if it was something that Tali'ra just did because it was cute, or if the carbuncle (who he refers to as Iiyola) wanted it in some way. There seems to be a bit of murkiness on if a carbuncle has a sense of free will and autonomy (if you've done the quest with Tataru becoming on arcansit, you'll know what I'm talking about :V) All the same, I just love how the red panda will latch to his shoulder and hang on. Its super cute, and I figure Tali'ra enjoys it as it feels much more comforting to have a pet who wants to be that close and isn't just a minion to fight for him.
2. Aloyv drunk.... hmm... I see him as becoming far less reserved and breaks away from the "proper noble" behavior. He's a bit more blunt about his thoughts an opinions, and also becomes a bit more physical than normal. Not exactly clingy, but just more comfortable being cuddly and closer to people. Really, he probably just brings down the walls he's set up around himself.
3. With the advent of Stormblood bringing Red Mage, I very much see Aloyv's fighting style becoming very close to that of Zelda's from Hyrule Warriors. Since he already uses a bow from being a Bard, him using a rapier would more or less fit with the aspect of being quick and furious, with magical flair to back it up.
4. They're both equally as commonly used? Beginning to think no one's even reading the post lol They are, I really don't prioritize one over the other cause they're just both satisfying to play as ;___; (also depends on my mood but I shift between the two pretty regularly)
5. I clicked other because I have two: Tali'ra is a researcher Aloyv is a singer/songwriter
6. Not sure if you'd be up for this, but Aloyv is a noble who tends to spend more time with the common folk than the upper elite, given he's a Bard that thinks the arts shouldn't belong to just the privileged. https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Aloyv_Riordan He's spent more than enough time getting into trouble in the pearl, but its also where he made some of his best friends so it wouldn't be too unlikely he's met Hathaway at some point. The performance troupe he's part of actually has a number former (and possibly current) courtesans, so his side business wouldn't alienate Aloyv in anyway. If you see him walking around, feel free to say hi, or you can always send me a tell or PM here c:
7. Okay hello again to the Making Connections forum but this time for another character! http://i.imgur.com/tInc8Yh.png[/img] This one in particular! If you want some in depth details, you can see his RPC Wiki page here but here's a little short and skinny about him. Name: Aloyv Riordan Home: Ul'dah Race: Half-Elezen Occupation: Bard/Entertainer Alignment: Chaotic Good Background: Noble from Merchant Family As I've been playing this character, I've been doing well having him interact with some of the artistic folk of Ul'dah as well as folk who were generally from the more from the streets, which is super. Buuuuut I'm finding that he doesn't have connections to other noble characters aside from any sort of NPC I've created from him (pretty much immediate family and that's it). SO. Basically I'm trying to make some connections with other characters that fit from his background and upbringing. Also for anyone else I'm currently doing RP things with DON'T WORRY I'M NOT REPLACING YOU OR ANYTHING more just I realize I don't have RP partners that fit his origin and I figured it was worth looking out for to help flesh him out more. ANYHOO. Things in particular I'd like to find: +General friends who are of noble affiliation as well (though keep in mind Aloyv is also a bastard child so it could make things complicated) +Extended family if you're willing to write it in a bit (cousins, aunt/uncles, stuff of that nature) +Friends with folk who may not have been nobles but were still within that circle (people who worked for his family's business, retainers either his own or retainers to other noble folk) +Rival from another family? Sure why not! Could actually be fun! Things I'd like to avoid: -Immediate family (like I said, I kinda got that bit sorted out already). -Anything romantic, current or previous. Also none to fond of admirers. -Straight up bullies. The guy is an adult now, so that'd feel kinda lame. Also worth noting, any race or gender is welcome. In any case, you're more than welcome to discuss things further with me over PM in case you want to make things more complex and fleshed out, but if you wanna just do a typical run into thing, we can work with that as well. It'll usually be much easier to reach me on here cause when I'm in game can always be sorta up in the air, but do please consider it if it sounds like something you might fit with! c:
8. So I have an FC and I'm super good with them and loving playing part. But... Tali'ra himself has been rather inward looking lately, taking into consideration some things that have been happening in Eorzea (ie. MSQ stuff with 3.5). He himself has been rather naïve only having some idea of the going on in the realm (much like myself, still pretty new to things) and only now is starting to realize the weight of things in regards to Ishgard, Doma, and especially now Ala Mhigo. For a little while, I think it would be good for him to travel along with someone (or a group of someones) who are a bit more down to earth in regards to how they live in the world. He feels like he's been so caught up in the thought of "helping the realm" that he really has no idea how to relate with people on a smaller scale. Sooooo I guess that's what I see him needing about now. Name is "Tali'ra Ilucien" on Balmung, though a reply here or PM would work as well. Pretty much game to play with anyone who doesn't mind a bit of character building.
9. That's generally the direction I had in mind. I figure Aloyv (characters name btw I may as well mention) was more influenced by his mother since she was supportive of her son despite strange circumstances, so I figure she doesn't give much consideration to petty noble drama. That said, I just feel a lot of his influence and conviction are related to the political issues facing Ul'dah: the problem of wealth distribution, the general apathy of refugees, and I figure he tries to play the game of being able to talk the talk but with a more altruistic motive than his peers. I figure more so as an adult, he's humble enough to take criticism and frustration of the less fortunate head on rather than be defensive, particularly after some personal life experience things that happened in his youth.
10. That does give a bit of context at least so thank you for that, I guess now I'm just trying to think how to play that and interact with others. Given dealing with those who're ready to forgive any "sin" for the right coin... like I dunno about you but that'd make me kinda hate dealing with those people, even while technically being part of that demographic. Now I'm considering how and what it'd be like trying to engage with those in a less well off position. How others would perceive him even if he was attempting to be sincere, and more importantly how to play out interactions with other characters who do come more from the streets of Ul'dah.
11. Alrighty, so I'm bringing to light a character of mine for XIV (technically an older character but one who I feel their concept and personality would fit perfectly into XIV's world) However, there's a lot of details I'm trying to sort out in how to make this character work and fit into the (for a lack of better terms) "rules" of this world. The basic concept is they're the bastard son of a Hyur merchant from Ul'dah who had a bit of a fling with an Elezen sell sword that didn't stick around to much. Eventually she married into another merchant family and now my character has a couple step siblings as well as a step father. In general, I really see his family situation being positive and stable, particularly with his mother and siblings. At worst, I just see him and his step father just having a hard time connecting. But anyway. Where I'm starting to want to make sure I'm doing stuff well is regarding how well he reacts with more peasant or even street folk of Ul'dah. I figure that despite his family, he'd probably be looked at a little more harshly among nobles being a bastard child and also being half of two races (though not nearly as cruel as Hilda had experienced in Ishgard). With that in mind, I see his young rebellious teenage years as being the sort that may have shown more interest in the going ons of the street happenings of Ul'dah, possibly even interest and thrill of Pearl Lane. This is where a bulk of my conceptualization is rather hazy though. How would he be received amongst groups of that sort? Would he do well if he went in with a more incognito approach? Would his racial status in any way hurt or hinder that? Would his talents in performance (he's more or less a bard in terms of class and character) in some way be beneficial to that? Basically I just want to explore how to write and play a character who finds themselves walking betwixt the two sides of the city that influenced him growing up, and just different peoples own thoughts on the divide between groups of the city.
12. Romance novels of course~ Given Tali'ra is already a big book nerd that probably isn't all too surprising. But I figure his older brother started giving him such reading material from visits home when he started to reach that age. :y I imagine he himself has probably attempted to write some of his own, but dare not share them with anyone.
13. Hey! So Tali'ra is basically an Antiquarian and Historian. While his primary findings are most commonly books, tomes, scrolls, etc. he's still always on the lookout for any sort of strange curiosities and relics. The FC I'm part of is about to start a larger campaign focused around "exploring the realm" but I'm hoping this leads to some good findings for him! If you'd like I could keep you posted on anything he himself is looking into, but I'll be sure to follow up in case some more interesting things start happening :3
14. My FC was actually having this discussion the other day. I figured Tali'ra would be voice by someone like Max Mittelman _FkG9dtiDZ8 Gentle and proper, but not overtly posh.
15. I did see this post! It was helpful and more or less cemented my idea that Eorzea on the whole doesn't condemn such things. Still, I appreciate the input of everyone here since it does give me some perspective and impart some of their own personal interactions with such things. Given a lot of things regarding identity and orientation are very much related to personal attachment, that's mostly what I was trying to figure out and wanted to make a character who treats such things guided by the feelings in their heart rather than just a basic response to the popular societal opinion. Also thank you for reminding me of that. I know I've read that elsewhere and I knew about it but it kinda kept slipping my mind on how that can relate to personal story things.
