Reading that the quest for the next weapon is close to impossible makes me nervous @_@ I hope I won't fail too much. Anyway, I'm very excited about this update. SE counts on my support for a long while, that's certain.

Well, all the games I've played have those restrictions, at least (Mabinogi:Heroes, Tera, and if I remember well, GW2 too. Bless Online has confirmed to also be class restricted). I'm sorry you can't combine certain items, but I'm sure there are other items you can like as well @x@ Sometimes, you have to adhere to certain rules. In this case, I find it very normal that the armours which represent each class can't be combined, for each class is like a character on their own.

I wish a had a smartphone (X_X) I don't know if I want to buy the physical device...

This isn't a restriction I personally mind either. Every single game has it, there are always some armour pieces that can only be worn by a class and not by another, which encourages people to level multiple characters (and I think that's the point). At least in FFXIV you can level multiple classes with the same character, so you can actually wear every single piece of cloth of you put a bit of effort into it. And I think that's the key word here, effort; if you want something, you have to work for it. Again, they aren't asking for something impossible, as leveling is not difficult at all. So yes, in the end, your character can wear any piece you want. Just get the level and class needed, it's simple as that. Working for a goal is one of the main points in MMORPGs, after all; you can't expect the game to give you everything without putting a minimum of effort into it.

Haha, to me, gearing up in FFXIV has been the less stressful thing ever. I come from games that are a real pain, where gearing up depends on luck and not effort. Now that's stressful ^^; I guess it's because I'm used to that kind of nightmares that I find FFXIV system so nice. I mean, I've just been doing a daily roulette everyday for the past months. That's nothing, it gives me so much free time to do other things, and I still have the reassurance that I'm progressing. I haven't done a single Coil run myself, and having the myth tomes system, I fail to see how doing Coil is mandatory. Doesn't it just give the same stats as the myth tomes equip? What I mean is, out of all the MMORPGs I've played, FFXIV has the most relaxing and most player friendly endgame content I've ever seen. I'm actually surprised to see people quit due to it.
-
Question, where did people read the info about the cap of myth tones being removed? Does anyone know any info regarding what we'll need for the next equip? I hope it's farmable like the previous one >_< I don't know if I should keep farming myth tomes, as I believe I've bought pretty much everything I needed with them and I'm not levelling any alt class. Will there be any other use for them?

I believe that the service FFXIV offers is still very good (in fact, I haven't played better MMORPG than this one, or that offers as many details for RPers like this one does). The glamour system's limitations aren't really such, for everyone can get to lv50. It's an added motivation to level up, and MMORPGs will naturally want you to play the game. Perhaps they also want for armours to keep a certain degree of charisma; if an armour is supposed to be a symbol of being powerful (in this case, max level), I think it's very fine to keep things that way. tl;dr: I don't think wearing armour related to your level is a big issue, or a reason to hate the company (?_?) They aren't asking for anything impossible either; just level up! It's great that we're getting a glamour system.

!! Thank you very much! I could finally watch the whole thing without having to mute the sound *laughs*. It's a very nice trailer, I've watched it three times already. Hairstyles and dyeable armour pieces are also my favourite parts. I'm never impressed with new dungeons, so I'm glad FFXIV offers updates for many kinds of players.
-
New hairstyles and dyeable acolyte robes! *Very excited*. I really need to level weaver asap. The new hair is so cute, I'm so tempted...
-
I started watching it, but then English voices happened and I stopped. Isn't there a trailer in Japanese? ;
-
FSDFDSGDFDHG I'm not ready! *Must finally level weaver to 50 before the update arrives.* I'm excited all the same, though. Can't wait for the new Live Letter.

We must also remember that, in order to play an epic plot where every character counts, it mostly has to be done in a small group. I don't think the same can be done in very big groups, so I guess that's why many RPers tend to mostly play their huge plots with their friends. (And just for the record, I'm not playing any epic plot in FFXIV myself, as I already get my epicness dose elsewhere. I just go with the flow and enjoy things as they come, if and when they do. I just understand why players tend to choose small groups, even if I'd also like them to create more general plots that would involve many people).

How is that any different though than just carrying around old gear and swapping it in for looks though? As is, this is already true "the more you level up, the more variety you'll have". The only difference I can see is that maybe we won't have as many armoury/inventory slots used up. With a lot of items character locked as is, you can't just buy a lot of stuff of vendors/auction house. So minimally, in order to get things like allagan, you have to have looted them out of BC, therefore having a lvl 50 class. Why should alternative classes have to suffer when you've earned that gear, but can't wear (vanity it) it till you reach 50 on that class as well? It makes the implementation of the vanity system severely and unnecessarily limited. To me, the difference is that the variety we have now doesn't apply outside RP scenes. I can't do dungeons or quest in any gear I want, sadly. This system will allow you to play the game itself with the look you choose, instead of limiting you to only use that look when you afk in town or when you RP any scene. PS: I've actually grown fond of the White Mage tunic *laughs*. If I think about it, seeing Clover beat a dungeon in her real RP outfit would be odd for me, since she's not supposed to go to dungeons ICly. It's still good knowing that the system is there, though.

As people have said, events are a good way to make friends. However, events might not get you into real plotting. Getting into those in big communities like this one, which doesn't share a common story for all the players, is harder and more tricky, I'm afraid. In any case, events are still a lot of fun! If you look at the calendar, there are two upcoming ones in Balmung: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=6544 (Chocobo races, which looks like a relaxing social meeting). http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=6515 (Ghost Whale, which looks like the adventure kind of RP). I recommend you to attend both, especially the second if you want some serious plotting ^^ Best of lucks, don't give up!

We don't know if it's one prism per gear, or one outfit per prism. We don't know if the prism is something that's consumed on use to apply a saved look to a particular piece of gear, or if it's something equipped. We don't know if you'll be able to apply lower ilvl gear appearances to higher ilvl prisms. All of these "we don't know"s have the potential to turn an "okay" system (which is essentially what I was hoping it would be - modular wardrobe tabs) into something utterly useless. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's very confused about this. I thought I might have been missing something, but no matter how many times I hear about this system, I never understand how it works ^^; At least, is it confirmed that neither of the gears (the one with looks and the one with stats) are destroyed upon the use of a prism? Other than that, I don't mind that you can only use the looks of gear that's equal to your level. The more you level up, the more variety you'll have. Everyone eventually gets to 50 anyway ^^

The devs want Bless Online to have a very rich lore and a very beautiful world. You'll be able to fly on dragons and you'll supposedly be a part of an awesome story. The devs said they wanted the player to feel very involved with the story and the world. Good so far. But then you see beta videos and the characters can't even do something as basic as sitting on a chair. I also doubt they can change facial expressions or look at another player, or have room for name + surname, or have future plans for house system, and a long etc. The game will have a nice lore, but I won't be able to feel involved in the world because the devs are failing at the most basic things. FFXIV is just too perfect and genius for me, and I realize that every other game offers much less.

Personally, I'm looking forward to Bless Online (I've been RPing it already, in fact) and Kingdom Under Fire 2, but I admit I still find them lacking in comparison with FFXIV. So, I currently don't believe that any of the new games I'm looking forward to is better than this one, for they lack the magic this one has. I will play them if I have the chance, but my favourite place is still FFXIV. I'm in for the long run here.

Hello! Welcome to the community and to Balmung. I tend to often find RPers at the main cities' adventurers guilds, so perhaps you'll also run into any of them ^^ I hope you have a nice experience roleplaying in this game!
-
I'm not a legacy player and I play in Balmung. I certainly don't regret it, though I have no idea of how things are in Gilgamesh. Perhaps a good idea would be for you to look around in the forum/wiki and check if there's any character that catches your attention. The server which has more characters you might be interested in could win ^^?

I just had to edit a screen of Xydane Vale. He's such a great character, and I feel honoured that mine could be a part of his story somehow, even if it was so heart-breaking (=A=; *Won't be able to sleep tonight*. Thank you for the RP, Xydane player. Thank you very much.

Aaah, thank you! But I'm actually not photogenic at all. I have to struggle a lot to get a decent pic ^^; So you've met other lolitas? It's good that more and more people know about this fashion.
-
Because I dressed up (in Lolita fashion) today (>_<)!

Beach RP event, part 2: the fashion show. (I couldn't screen everyone, sorry. It wasn't easy from my position). The absolute winner, Nazeru.
