I think writing [EU] would suffice. In the end, people from anywhere can and will attend the events (there's an event for EU players today, but everyone is welcome to come!) Perhaps it'd be nice to add the hour for each event in several timezones, so that everyone can get a more accurate idea of whether or not they could participate.
-
It sounds like it was a lot of fun! It's also good that no outsiders tried to troll the event. I personally don't mind events full of people. Granted, they can be a bit confusing at times, but the fun is far greater. The feeling of being surrounded by many real characters in a lively atmosphere is priceless! I couldn't attend it because it started at 1am my time. European and American timezones aren't very compatible sometimes ; In any case, congratulations to the organizer for the event. That many people joined is a very good sign ^^

I definitely love the uniform. So much I'd like my character to join them ICly when the time comes.
-
Ah, I missed that because I muted the voices in GW2. I couldn't stand seeing my 15 years old character with the voice of a very grown up woman *sweatdrops*. System configuration > Other settings ^^
-
I had no idea about this. Thank you for sharing this info! I'm still unsure of what the search function is, but I shall investigate it now. *Logs in*

Fenris??? @__@ Albeit I still won't play with English voices, I must say that I absolutely loved Fenris in DA2. I didn't know who his voice actor was, but I like him.
-
Thank you! That was an interesting read. I had no idea that Papalymo and Sakaya from Madoka were the same person. I've just been thinking that I adore his voice.
-
I'd like to see a list of the Japanese cast! I've only heard a few names here and there.
-
It worked! Game is finally patching ^^ If anyone gets the same error, at least now we know how to solve it.

Character creation now open on Balmung and Gilgamesh!

Phew, I'm very glad that you managed to create your character! I felt nervous while reading your story, since I didn't know if it'd have a happy ending *laughs*. -
You may have already tried this; when I got this yesterday it took a reboot for the problem to go away. I don't know if that fixed it or whether it was fixed at Square's end during the time I took to do the reboot. I've rebooted my comp, but the problem remains. I think I just need to replace my boot folder files with those from someone whose client has patched successfully today. Someone from the Skype chat is sending their files to me, I hope they work ;w; (I initially tried replacing the files with an outdated boot folder, so I guess that's why it didn't work).
-
I guess I'm the only one getting an "Unable to complete version check" error after the maintenance? not even replacing the boot folder works this time >_
-
Wait, I'm lost. Wasn't a maintenance going to take place today for many hours? @_@ Or has it been done already and I completely misunderstood? I'll be very happy if servers are finally working!

My thoughts, exactly! This is the kind of event I've been hoping for anyone to make: anything that would serve as a common point for everyone. I'm up for it! I don't even know if my characters will be affected by it, but they'll be aware that it's spreading and will react accordingly. Edit: It occurs to me that Clover would offer help to the ones affected by it (?). Anything that encourages RP is welcome in my book.

But I have! That example was a real one from the Spanish Aion community I used to play in. That's simply something that can happen when ingame levels matter more than the story itself. We might not find such hardcore cases, but we might still find cases that won't quite work ICly. It depends on the character people want to play. Say that I want to play a 38 years old veteran soldier who managed to survive Carteau. I can't imagine that he has no experience whatsoever when he starts at lv1 five years later, for all his heavy training and experiences happened in the past. This is why I'll only care about your story and who your character is, not about their OOC levels. Another example is my own characters. They do start as inexperienced at lv.1 because I consider that more fun, but they don't gain experience as they gain levels. That would mean that they've killed Ifrit, Titan, and even Jesus, which doesn't work. Until Clover receives proper training in the RP itself (and perhaps not even then), she won't be any sort of outstanding fighter.
-
I'll concede that point without blinking. I'm also bothered, however, when super low level characters run around with power beyond the scope of players who have put all that time into leveling. It can really go either way, good or bad. I thought that players who put time into levelling are interested on the game itself. I mean, you don't need to power level your character if you simply want to RP them. You only power level to play the game further. At least that's what I'm doing o.oa; If a character tells me that they're uber powerful because of their past experiences, I personally will accept it and play along, no matter what their level is. That a character is lv.1 doesn't mean they were just born *sweatdrops*.
-
I've said this before. I will never take level or equip into consideration when I RP. What matters is the story behind your character. In the end, levels are just the result of the player's free time and/or willingness to spend all their time leveling up. Why should such an OOC detail matter ICly? Likewise, even if my characters reach the max level, they'll still be normal girls you can beat more or less easily. I saw a case of a 9 years old female character who wanted to be stronger than a 400 years old veteran High Commander from the army, simply because the little girl's player had spent day and night levelling her up, while the Commander's player lacked the time (and his time ingame was usually used to RP). Cases like that one are absolutely absurd.
-
I personally believe that people shouldn't limit themselves when they create their characters, so long as they don't force others to feel certain ways about them (I know a case of a girl who let everyone know that her character was the prettiest person they might have ever met). Give them whatever past you want, whatever power you want, then see where it takes you. Other characters will react accordinly and the RP will flow. To each of us, our own character will always be the most special one, after all.

Server Congestion and Trial Period Extensions (09/03/2013)
Clover replied to Taeh Niumoenwyn's topic in FFXIV News
Aaah. Such bad timing. This means I won't be able to play on Wednesday either ;_; Ah well, it's all for the greater good. -
I've only RPed in the forum so far because: a) I got carried away by the initial hype for the game, since it was just released and I'm loving exploring it and learning many things. b) My main character's story is stuck due to my partner's impossibility to RP with me *sweatdrops*. I'm going to give it a solution this week, though, as I want her to participate in this Sunday's event. My secondary character is still level 3 and stuck at Limsa Lominsa, while she's supposed to live in the desert *laughs*. Hopefully, I'll be able to start my actual RP with both characters soon ^^
-
My characters don't tend to be special. The things that are important to them don't need to be important to the rest of the world, just like how real life works (and yet they are the absolute protagonists in my mind, as it's logical). I, however, also enjoy playing with other characters who are so perfect or powerful or anything you can come up with, for those can make the story move forward! It doesn't matter if they want to be the main stars; a main star needs a public, and thus their stories can and usually will get other characters involved. That's my experience, anyway. I played in a community where, one day, the new masters decided to have a huge control over what kind of power or plot everyone could have, preventing people from making any sort of special character. The result was that the RP suffered a lot because nothing much happened any longer. Summarizing, even if I have my own ways to RP, I enjoy meeting and playing with many kinds of characters ^^ Freedom is important.
-
Just a note, I RPed a scene on the forum where K'mih passes her trial. I guess it won't technically happen until I start RPing her ingame, but as soon as I can start, it'll be the moment right after she just passed it ^^ *Runs to sleep*

You have more faith than i do. I doubt we'll see any magic wand fix in the next couple of days or even the next couple of weeks. The only time it will be fixed is in the next couple of months when 80% of the population has dropped the game. Well, it will be a problem if the game isn't fixed in the next couple of weeks, even for me @x@ That's a situation the devs wouldn't want, so I'm sure they'll do whatever they can to fix everything as fast as possible. I don't mind waiting a couple of days and see how it goes. Once the game is fixed, we'll have the chance to play it as much as we want, after all!
-
It's a bad situation, but I for one will stay. I'm too eager to enjoy and live in this game, and to finally have the chance to start RPing my characters (which hasn't happened yet). Nothing should stop me once the servers are fixed. In the meanwhile, we can have lives today and tomorrow ^^
-
Unless I misunderstood them, I think they said that servers should be more or less fixed after Wednesday's maintenance. PS: Server is full already, even at this time @___@; The situation is getting worse... I guess I won't be able to play today either!
