Eorzean Action Wizards - A Guide to the Thaumaturge and Black Mage
Clover replied to Rakoh's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I was completely uninterested on Thaumaturges, but my mind has changed after reading this. I hope to give this class a try in the future; it sounds interesting. Thank you for sharing it! -
That's really sad. He's been my inspiration for my FFXIV RP...

Miqo’te Mating Strategies Explored: a biologist’s point of view
Clover replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in Lore Discussion
As I mentioned before, I need to understand my Miqo'te's mindset, and this is definitely the part of her mindset I don't understand much. Reading this post made it easier for me to figure out what her views are supposed to be and how to avoid being a part of them, as the lore info was too vague and left me with more questions than answers, so it was all good. Velkyron and Theodric, I'm glad that things have been clarified in the end. No harsh feelings! ^^ Shuck, I don't know why you insist on discrediting this post and the OP. You aren't really going to convince anyone that this post was actually not useful for us even if it was, so, please drop it? *Sweatdrops*. I don't see what the big deal is, or how all this drama is necessary. (PS: Because I just noticed the next post: Bea, what Myxie meant was that it's unnecessary to come to a discussion post and complain about its mere existence. That's not a real contribution and, as you can see, it's brought nothing good to a post that used to be informative). -
Physical advantages of the races of Eorzia
Clover replied to Khaze'to Zhwan's topic in FFXIV Discussion
My main is a hyur, so she's nothing special. If the lore states that my Miqo'te has a very good sense of smell, I'll have to RP accordingly. With this I mean, if someone wants to hide a pie somewhere and doesn't want it to be found, then just avoid RPing with a Miqo'te? I don't want to be forced to be OOC, when it wasn't even me the one who decided that Miqo'tes have a nice sense of smell. Lore is lore; I don't see any problem with characters being as the lore states. -
Miqo’te Mating Strategies Explored: a biologist’s point of view
Clover replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in Lore Discussion
Just a note. The harem culture has also been a part of the human society, so it's not like sentient creatures are above it. We just need to understand what kind of emotional attachment (or lack of it in this case) such human beings could have in order to perhaps understand Miqo'tes. I personally don't understand a thing, for I believe that jealousy and possessiveness are also natural emotions that every or most sentient creatures would experience (?). -
Main Storyline: A Matter of Taste, or RP Etiquette?
Clover replied to Gone4everbye's topic in RP Discussion
At least I hope people will organize epic stories about imaginary monsters or confrontations against the Garlean empire. Those wouldn't step on anyone's RP, I think, and many players could participate. I'd personally love that ;w; *eager to participate in any plot*. -
Miqo’te Mating Strategies Explored: a biologist’s point of view
Clover replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in Lore Discussion
@_@??????? Well, that is indeed creepy, but... are they actually RPers? I mean, three random nunhs (who I assume are from different tribes, for there aren't as many nunhs in a single one AND there aren't many actually organized tribes out there) whispering random Miqo'tes about breeding doesn't sound very IC, unless there's some info I'm missing. Nunhs only breed with females from their own tribes, after all. To add some contrast to that case, I can talk about mine. We the Hipparion tribe have gathered many members and have our own Nunh (there's a second Nunh, but he's an NPC). I even have him added to Skype, and he's never ever messaged me about this matter. Granted, my Miqo'te is naive and young, but I believe he hasn't approached K'nahli either. What I mean to say with this is that you can't generalize; it's not safe to assume that everyone who wants to discuss and understand Miqo'te traditions and culture is some sort of a pervert who only wants to ERP ^^a; I certainly am not playing a Miqo'te for that *sweatdrops*. -
Miqo’te Mating Strategies Explored: a biologist’s point of view
Clover replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in Lore Discussion
I don't think this subject is the most popular (there's... one thread dedicated to the matter). It is, however, the most difficult to understand, at least for me. I read this thread trying to figure out what my Miqo'te's views are supposed to be, and especially trying to figure out how to make her avoid breeding in a way that would still make sense from a Miqo'te perspective. I'm a romantic human being and my first inclination is to make my Miqo'te believe in romantic love, but I can't RP her like that, and thus I'm thankful that this matter was discussed. Now, I just wish that people would stop being so defensive and aggressive about this matter. No one is discussing how Miqo'tes do it. Rather, what's being discussed are their views. There's no need to come to threads you're personally not interested in just to complain about their existence o.oa And if you didn't understand why this could be useful to anyone, now you should know. -
I understand what you mean, and that's a part of the reason why I don't afk myself. There are many people trying to play and they deserve the chance. But that's exactly why I'm also not against people who afk; in the end, they're also people who want to play. I can only assume that if someone goes as far as leaving their character afk for the whole night, it might be because they know they won't be able to log in at a time where the server is not full. I won't be the one telling them "tough luck. Just don't play"... ^^a; I simply understand that everyone wants to play, and thus they'll do what they can. (And just for the record, I just came back from lunch and now it seems absolutely impossible to log in).

Oh, since it's in Thanalan, perhaps my Miqo'te will be able to attend! ...I just need to level her up.

Umm... I have yet to run out of MP in a dungeon, truth be told. I remember this mini dungeon (whatever they're called, I forgot) where I had to abuse Medica because there was poison everywhere and HP bars kept going down. I also had to use it a lot at Ifrit; for that, I told everyone to please don't go too far away from me. There are also some parties where more than a single person is taking damage, so... What can I say? I couldn't live without Medica *laughs*. Edit: Then again, I'm quite a clumsy player, so perhaps I'm doing it wrong (?)
-
What... I'm lv.30 and I had no idea of this *laughs at all her fail*. Thank you for the information! As for Arcanists being the healers of the party, just the lack of Medica alone would make things very hard in some dungeons, in my opinion.

Conjurer here, also going for Gladiator ICly. Holding a sword in your hands and using it to defend yourself is a very easy thing to do; it doesn't require you to have a super special training. Just take that sword and use it-- that's what Clover will do.

I only AFKed for 20 mins once because I really wanted to continue playing after my dinner. I logged off for 15 mins the previous day, and that meant I couldn't play for the whole afternoon. This said, even if I don't have the habit of AFKing, I can't blame people who want to stay on; if you don't do it, others will anyway. Everyone wants to play, it's only normal. I also can't blame the company. They're doing their best, we just have to be patient.

Main Storyline: A Matter of Taste, or RP Etiquette?
Clover replied to Gone4everbye's topic in RP Discussion
But, couldn't anything be organized in this community? This is the point where all RPers meet, and the place for events to be organized, after all. Couldn't this community serve as a chronicle of what's happening in the world? (What's happening in the world = the story we the RPers create). Maybe I'm being naive, but I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to live in a world where things are actually happening, no matter how far or close they are from our characters. The lore itself really stops after the calamity; it'd be sad if that were the only real event all characters can share and react to, an event from the past. -
If you wonder where that is exactly in-game, that's in Eastern Thanalan, somewhere around where Camp Drybone is. There's a FATE that mentions some creatures coming or living there (I forgot the exact wording). Thank you for the answer! I knew they lived in the Sagolii desert, but I was wondering if there was any spot in-game that would work as "home".

Sorry to interrupt, and I apologize if this has been asked before, but is there any place where the Hipparion tribe could live? I haven't been able to start RPing my character yet due to the initial hype for the game, but I feel a bit lost as to how to start since I don't know where the tribe is supposed to live, or where I could regularly meet the other tribe members ^^; It'd be cool if we all reunited from time to time to RP tribal scenes... or simply to hang out and get to know all the characters better. We're a family, after all! Sorry if such things have been discussed already. Since I've been levelling Clover so far, I haven't had access to the tribe chat. I shall when I go hardcore on levelling K'mih.

Main Storyline: A Matter of Taste, or RP Etiquette?
Clover replied to Gone4everbye's topic in RP Discussion
So the situation is: epic things are happening in the game, but it'd be silly for a single person to have done it all (at least it'd be if that person is planning to RP with other people). In that case, does that mean that no one can ever get involved in epic stories, or that every player has to come up with their own personal adventures if they want any? As I'm seeing the RP so far, everyone seems to be RPing their own thing, without any common story or anything that's actually happening in the world (RP-wise). My approach would be for someone to organize and master events related to the main storyline, where many people could participate. It'd be cool if this community could write its own version of the events; that'd make our story more alive, dynamic, and even meaningful in the world we're playing in. For example, the day Ifrit came back to life. It could be a real event hat could affect many people, either directly or indirectly (unless the players choose to completely ignore it, but why would anyone refuse a chance to RP, even if it's just RPing how your character feels regarding certain rumours about a possible danger?) Perhaps this worked better on the Aion server I used to play in because the Spanish community was smaller, and the server was a private one focused solely on RPing. I just remember that we had epic conflicts and wars that involved every character who wanted or could be a part of it. We had a living, common story going on and it was really wonderful. Even if your character wasn't a soldier and didn't directly participate in the wars, they still knew that a war was going on, thus that would still affect them in any way. I'd personally like FFXIV RP to be the same, to have some common stories that will affect a majority, or at least a large group of players. Just my two cents! Edit: As for the Echo, if anyone has it and ever wants to look into my characters' memories, just let me know! I'm not opposed to it; on the contrary, I find it interesting. -
Very nice! I've always thought that drawing grown up big men is very difficult. You did it wonderfully!

From the little I've seen, Mass Effect does sound absolutely great. English voices are the original ones, after all, and they suit the characters. I also found Last of Us voices very good (I refused to see it dubbed in Spanish). I just can't stand dubs of any kind in Japanese/Korean games or anime, for they are created with a very different mindset and charisma. I always feel that any voice other than the Japanese is completely unfitting and wrong with them; it doesn't help that I consider Japanese the most beautiful language my ears have ever come across *laughs*. So nothing is ever going to beat it for me.

Clover is currently affiliated with Twin Adder in game, and I'd like her to end up affiliated ICly as well. This FC sounds like it will somehow represent that Grand Company through the RP, which would be wonderful! Military structures are very interesting to me, I love the feeling that my character is actually a part of anything real and tangible, and that she has superiors who will give actual commands and will put their soldiers in difficult situations. Are you planning to even RP in instances? However, now that I'm very excited, I realize that this is a Free Company. Sadly, I'm already in the European one *falls*. If this FC is going to represent Twin Adder, and if you plan to RP some sort of a military structure and real missions, could I still participate even if I'm not an official member of the FC? ;____;

I've never seen him before. This game is still full of mysteries.

Main Storyline: A Matter of Taste, or RP Etiquette?
Clover replied to Gone4everbye's topic in RP Discussion
I'm personally not imagining that the main storyline is actually happening to my character. As you commented, that'd be chaotic. Regarding the primals, it'd be very cool if someone ever organized an event in which an army of RPed characters have to actually fight one. We don't need the game story, we can make our own and play it our way! -
That hat is quite literally the reason I leveled Weaving. Girls, GIRLS. Clearly the men need to show you how this 'gathering' is done! ...Spandex tights are IN by the way. Well, I do love that top, more on males than on females ^^; (the female version looks like some sort of underwear, it's not very detailed). I like it when fashion for males isn't limited.
