  1. I keep reading many wonderful features that will make my screenshot taking more exciting and I just dfhfghfhjghkjghjfgjhfgjhghjg am too excited to say anything coherent. I need to play. I need to play now.
  2. Same here! I'm unsure of what kind of Linkshell my main character would join anyway, so I'll let the actual story decide that for me when the game starts (>_<; In the meanwhile, I've tried to get some work done. Also played Phantasy Star Online 2 (for an hour), Aion (for 15 minutes), and now I think I'll go back to Skyrim *sweatdrops*.
  3. I think that'll be at 1am my time *sweatdrops*. I'll try to at least take a look before passing out, haha.
  4. Nice idea! I think I'll want to join it when the time comes if it's alright, as I tend to take endgame seriously in games I enjoy. It's not even just about time zones. I feel that I understand the EU community better (I'm from Spain).
  5. Well, I've suggested that myself as well, as I can't ultimately compare this with real life. In the end, this is a game with a limited system that lacks on many things, so you've got to use your imagination on many matters. Be it about marriage/having babies, be it about owning a magic shop in Limsa Lominsa, or be it about merely napping on the grass. I believe that RPing the wedding ceremony is a good alternative (in a game). The other alternative is to do nothing; that's up to everyone. Anyway, since many people wish for this system to be implemented, I hope it will.
  6. I'm not one of the people affected by it (I even believe that the marriage system in general is useless), but I *think* that their problem isn't limited to how this will affect their game experience. Many people have suffered from discrimination irl, and I imagine it makes them uncomfortable to, in a sense, see it reflected in-game as well. Whether or not they'll use this system is irrelevant; I think they simply want to know that they're treated as equals, and that their tastes are ultimately respected and welcomed. This is how I understood it, at least. I apologize if it's not the case.
  7. On the other hand, this is an RP community, and most races don't even have marriage traditions. Those few which have (is there anyone else other than hyurs?) could always RP their ceremonies, since the lore is supposed to allow this kind of marriage. I think it's just a matter of time until same-sex marriages are implemented. Their last news about it were from the last year, yes? Who knows, maybe they've had the time to change their mind for now. We'll have to wait for more news. (Just for the record, I won't be using the marriage system in any form myself.)
  8. Ah, yes. I agree with you, Japan can be VERY closed minded, which is a part of the reason why many rebellious forms of fashion (like lolita fashion) have been born there. Many young people are sick of everything and want to break the traditional rules. In any case, considering that FFXIV already has gender equality in the armours, I guess it's just a matter of time ^^ (*Nods* Everyone has their own opinion regarding the matter; I do, too! I personally dislike any form of marriage, het included *laughs*. As you said, everyone has the right to decide. People just need to learn not to lose sleep over what other people do, so long as everyone is happy doing their thing).
  9. Actually, I believe that Spain had homosexual marriages quite before the United States did ^^; You'd be surprised at the amount of countries that support it. Putting that aside, I did see Western people whine when Western Mabinogi announced that same-sex marriages would be allowed, so it's not a Japan only thing. The whole world is nuts.
  10. I recall seeing a quote from Yoshi-P (or maybe it was from that official lore guy on the lore forums) where it was stated that there really aren't any gender discriminations when it comes to romantic relationships in Eorzea. Which makes the marriage system being hetero-only even more ridiculous. Squee needs to put their grown-up pants on and actually take a stand that they clearly want to take but are too chicken to do so. I see. It's ridiculous, indeed, especially if it's a choice they've made to satisfy the most intolerant and unpleasant players O_O That someone is offended over homosexual marriage at this time and age is absolutely silly, why should their opinion be taken into such consideration? In any case, since there's no discrimination in Eorzea, then I guess it'd be safe to at least imagine that such marriages are allowed in the RP?
  11. Haha, this. At least this will bring some interesting stories. Also, if such marriages aren't allowed, does that mean that homosexuality isn't well seen by hyurs or any other race that has a marriage system? I guess the lore doesn't really state anything about this, but it'd be good to figure out in order to determine how shocked or passively our characters will react. I know that my Miqo'te's Hipparion tribe has a rule that allows it, so she'd see it as a very normal thing.
  12. Well, this topic has been opened for people to discuss about it, since some players want to use it ICly. There's no need to complain about people discussing something you personally don't care for... ? I have no idea of how many people will use it, and neither do you. Some of us merely stated our hope for it not to become a common occurrence, and that's all.
  13. It depends on how much it's used. If many people used it, the lore of each race would stop mattering. They no longer would be recognizable. I'd personally be troubled if that became a common occurrence.
  14. Aah, I love this outfit! I can't make it work on any of my characters ICly, but I think I'll still try to get it for my Miqo'te (since she'd be the most suitable for it). This new Letter has been full of good news. I'm excited, I can't wait for OB!!
  15. 1. What do you think is a main character? The character you want to play the most, the one you'll level first. 2. What do you think makes a character an alternate character? If you are more dedicated to another character, the rest are alternate. 3. Do people have a responsibility to make certain "mains pair with mains" if you sense an interesting relationship (friends/rivals/lovers/enemies/long-lost relatives) forming or is it okay that someone's just not going to be around at random or for long periods of time? I'm okay with anything so long as it works. I doubt any of my characters could develop any sort of interesting relationship with a random character who's never there, anyway. In fact, if I sense that the other person isn't really going to play much, I'll personally make sure that my character won't develop any sort of important bond. 4. Have you ever discovered that your main was paired off in one of those situations with someone's alt? They just didn't play them at all or played other characters? Did it stall out your story? What did you do? It is only a problem if the other person suddenly stops playing, or plays their characters so scarcely that they no longer feel alive or even important. I don't like getting my characters into shallow relationships (of any kind), after all. Yes, it happened to me once and I didn't enjoy it. What I did was to force a change in my character's feelings so that I could continue developing her story; the other person might have gotten bored of their character, but mine was important to me and was still there. I hope I never have to do this ever again. 5. What's the biggest stereotype you think of when you think of people who only have one main character? ? Is there any stereotype I should think of? 6. What's the biggest stereotype you think of when you think of people who suffer alt-itis and swap characters often? I've learned to never develop anything that actually matters with people who get bored of their characters quickly and keep creating new ones. I don't get bored of my main characters, so I wouldn't like them to develop a bond with anyone who will stop existing shortly. 7. Which are you? A single or two main characters? 5 main characters? A bunch of alts? I have a main and a half characters (?) My Miqo'te is initially secondary, but in the end I'll depend on the people I play with. I'll take her seriously as well. 8. How did you usually break up your time between your main characters? Play on demand? Always on one, demand for the other? One with one group and when they all sign off switch to the other? No idea. I'll try to RP the character that finds RP scenes to do. So far, my secondary is making things easier for me to RP her in more scenes since she has a family, but I keep considering my hyur my main character.
  16. He sounds very cool, you did a good job! I also applaud your choice for his hairstyle (and the lack of facial hair, haha) ^^
  17. Welcome! I hope you'll enjoy your stay ^^ Question! What kind of Miqo'te will you play? Will she be a tribal Miqo'te?
  18. Unless I misunderstood, at least there are "normal Dragoons", so RPers might still be able to participate in whatever happens at Ishgard. There's supposed to be some sort of an army there, yes? Ah, I'm very sorry for having gone offtopic (>_<; I'll stop now. I was just worried because my partner wanted to be a Dragoon. Not the chosen, more special than you one; just one out of many.
  19. I'm... really surprised after reading all this. You mean the game gives you the chance to become certain jobs, while also giving you a lore that states that there's only a single special chosen soul of each job in the world? How does that work?? What kind of absurd lore is that? @A@; You can't create a lore that makes certain things so rare if you then give everyone and their mother the chance to use them! Are they trying to discredit player characters as if they weren't real or not a part of the world? I'd seriously have never guessed that no one is actually supposed to be a White Mage or a Dragoon. I'll keep this in mind, but I find it absurd nonetheless *sweatdrops*.
  20. Welcome! I hope you have a lot of fun RPing in FFXIV. By the way, I love the way your character looks (from your avatar). That's a very nice hairstyle!
  21. I'm a new player here, bringing a few more new players with me, and the three of us will play in Balmung. It's simply because that's where the vast majority of the RP community is, and that alone is enough. The economy was a concern of mine, I admit, but I guessed (or hoped) that things would become better in a month or two. In the end, I'm in the game to RP, and RP is what will remain when my character is max level. I'm not troubled about Legacy players at all. Why should I? They're people who have been so passionate about this game, who have worked hard to create an RP community in the past. They have established stories, their own established stories, while all the new people will have theirs, and all stories might intertwine. I also consider Warriors of Light and important part of the lore, and I don't want to be in a server where they don't exist. Another point is that the number of RPers is important to me. I made a poll about Miqo'te Tribes and I just couldn't have RPed any real Tribe in Gilgamesh because there wasn't enough people. As I said, I'll go where the RPers are. I don't need to start fresh, I don't need a chance to get the "spotlight". Many new characters will still shine in a legacy server, I don't feel the forum is dominated by Legacy players. I don't even know who the Legacy players are, as all I see is a lot of people who have created characters they love, just like I did! I'll be happy if my characters can get to interact with all of them and be a part of any story.
  22. When the hysterical mother looked back at K'mih, she was met with a horrified expression in the girl's face. The tanned Miqo'te closed her mouth quickly and stood firm, more out of fear than out of respect, albeit the latter was always present when she talked to her elders. "The last time I saw her, she was heading to her tent!" She informed the best she could. It was only after she pronounced those words that she realized how useless that information would actually be. Had K'ailia returned to her tent, her mother wouldn't have been driven to this state. ".............." An awkward silence reigned in the girl's throat right after. Luckily, another Miqo'te that approached them diverted the attention towards herself.
  23. ('... If you focus on the task, you won't have to worry.') K'mih's tail lowered completely at Kiht's initial reply, words that sounded like a rejection. She still wanted to keep the tiny hope that perhaps he'd finally fulfil her request, for he hadn't blatantly denied his will to help K'nahli's cause. "...?" Ears perked with curiosity when the boy offered one of his arrows, the ones he'd been dangerously playing with a moment ago. Albeit her own worries prevented her from smiling when she took the pointy tool, her head lowered in a thankful nod. She held the arrow with both hands and stared at it for a moment, head still down. "......Why do you like silence so much?" Her young voice was barely heard after a few seconds, sad eyes glued to the arrow she was holding. The question was genuine and sincere; she wasn't judging him, she wasn't mad. It was simply something she wanted to understand. It was then that a powerful voice startled her, interrupting any chance to obtain an answer. K'ailia's mother ran to them like a furious chocobo in an stampede, and a wide-eyed K'mih couldn't but instinctively take a step back. (K'ailia...?) "Ah..." Possessing some information about the matter, she tried to speak while the woman grabbed the poor Tia's shirt. "I was with her a moment ago..."
  24. "It's about my sister K'nahli... you know her, don't you?" She kept looking at him, kept talking in his silence, unafraid, yet distressed over something. He knew her sister's name, she was certain he should know it. He should know her face. "She's very good with the bow... just like you are!" K'mih lowered her head slightly. She looked slightly nervous, albeit it wasn't due to Kiht's difficult nature. "I'm not sure yet, but there's a chance I'll have to leave the Tribe soon..." Crystalline, sincere eyes rose once more, as did her voice when her very difficult request could be heard. "Please! Could you train with her from now on? I don't want her to be alone!"
  25. Luckily for them, K'mih had always been a social being who barely feared anyone. Approaching him until she was at a safe distance took no effort, and neither did she feel bothered by his silence, awkward as it was. She had his attention, that was enough for now. "I have a request..." she dared to say, concern all over her voice and eyes, which were glued to the Tia's figure; open, honest. And it was really odd that someone like her would tell such a thing to someone like him, for they'd barely shared more than a few mundane words in the past. It didn't matter to the young girl. He was still a part of her Tribe-- a part of her family. She knew his name.
