I have a name for my character now: Sukegei Himaa

The Mok remind me of the Tribe from a book called Across the Nightingale Floor by Lian Hearn; a small group which consider itself apart from everyone else and whose members owe allegiance to their own whilst living amongst the other clans (mostly spying on, manipulating or working for them depending on circumstances and purpose). Its not completely the same thing since the Tribe are more mercenary than the Mok seem to be (their existence is acknowledged for one, and various powerful people enlist their services on purpose for another) but its the first thing my mind went to when I read the bit about the Moks. The idea of them all scattered throughout the various tribes in secret and passing messages between one another for whatever purpose... Its all rather shady. I mean, I assume they're up to something otherwise they'd be open about it or form their own tribe? I just thought it sounded very similar. This is giving me ideas... >.>

This site has a nice list of Mongolian names. It might be a little early in terms of time period but I thought I'd share it in case anyone is still stumped. More references never hurt.

I'm completely settled on going with Himaa now, so if you're able to add them/me to the list I would be grateful. I'll post the name once I have one. I have an idea in mind but I'll wait and see if I can get it in game first.

My vote would be for the first or third. Fourth is nice but I personally think the other skin tones look better than the blue/grey look.

Thank you for offering but I am going to go with a Xaela after all. The more I think about it the more I like the alternative concept I have for him, so Xaela it is. Thank you though.

I'm probably going with this tribe too, though I'm on the fence as to whether my character would have a twin or not. Like you say though, I don't think you specifically need another player to roll the twin, though it would certainly be interesting. There's no reason you can't have fun with this one alone or as someone whose twin is basically an NPC in the background. That said, totally open to working with someone who wants a twin. >.>

I had a feeling they were going to wait for the servers to go down before giving us this stuff. Mass name-change incoming... Now that I've seen the names I think I might end up going with a Xaela after all. I speak no Japanese and those Raen conventions seem daunting to say the least; even after looking at the resources people have posted here and in another thread it makes my head spin. Plus I think I like the sound of the Himaa tribe... I might go with that.

I decided to go with a Raen as I like their lore much more than I do the Xaela (from what little we have anyway). I don't have a name yet (still waiting on those naming conventions), but this is what I'll be going with on my main: Xaela alternative:

I think option one would work. I'm not sure on exactly how glamours work in Eorzea but I'd assume the horns and tail would still be there, just... not visible. But like the others above me have said, it's really up to you since it is your character. I don't really side with the idea of ditching the character completely though, especially if you can come up with ways to make the change in a way which is fun and plausible to you and those you RP with. If you're attached to the character and have put a lot of work into him, ditching him completely might be hard (not to mention the complications caused ICly, especially if the character is in a position that affects others). And you've already said that you don't want to go down that route anyway. I think option one would be a good one, but that's just personal opinion. I'm not a fan of the 'oops I accidentally grew horns and a tail' idea, though I have seen it done before and it was a fun little episode (it was more for silly comic relief at the time). Fantasia doesn't exist within the lore, but glamours seem to be fairly common and lore abiding. Whether the tail and horns would be gone completely or whether they'd still be there but invisible I don't know. Then again, if he's been hiding it for this long then I'm sure he's mastered the art of not knocking everything off the table with his tail every time he turns around. That said, I think you should go for whichever one seems the most interesting to you. I think that is option 1, but like I say, that's just an opinion. Personally I like the simplicity of it and the fact that your character can control the reveal somewhat rather than it being 'Oops. Surprise!' Edit: I may have misread your first post initially. I was assuming that he'd be aware of the glamour and possibly keeping it up himself to help protect his disguise (I don't know if there is an actual time-limit for glamours or whether once applied to a living being they would stay put forever). If he isn't aware of it and the transformation comes as a surprise to him as well as to everyone else... it could work, but like K'nahli said, surely he'd have noticed something at some point?

Hi all. Not really new, just kind of returning, again. I played the game for a while back around launch and then again a few months after, but have been taking a bit of an extended break since then. I re-subbed a few months ago and have been lurking on these forums for a while. Since I didn't really get too involved in the RP community the first time round I wanted to just drop in and say hi. I don't really think that there's anyone here that would remember me from earlier so I guess this is my introductory post... I'm an RPer and a PVE-er, so I do a little of both. I spend more time doing PvE things and crafting/gathering at the moment, mostly because I've been waiting for HW to launch before I jump into RP properly (I want to do so on an Au Ra character). I don't RP as much as I used to (time constraints and RL work things) but I'm interested in getting to know people's characters and maybe joining a LS or two for more casual-medium RP and/or PvE shenanigans. I'll poke around the LS listings and things, but if anyone's interested in RPing with a random Au Ra feel free to get in touch (I haven't finished my character's profile yet but I'll do a wiki entry for him at some point). Anyhow, its nice to meet you all.

The memories... I hope that doesn't happen this time round though. *crosses fingers* I'm going to be fantasia-ing my Elezen into an Au Ra then probably leveling my ninja up to 60.

Hi. Welcome I'm a recent resub too, also trying to wade my through all the changes. I think that there's usually RP going on in Ul'dah, around the adventurer's guild, and there's the Open RP LS that's probably good for finding people too. There's a also a few player run events listed on the forums below that might be a good way to meet new people. I can't recommend any other specific LSs or FC since I'm sort-of-new and not sure who is still around, but if you ever want another random person to add to your friendly RP list feel free to add Takh'a.

I would like to join one, when I finally get my character to level 50 to do this kind of thing.

I like to RP criminal characters and I usually have at least one character in any game who is up to no good. I don't have one in FFXIV yet, mainly because I haven't been here for a while, but its really tempting to roll a character to join you (T'zhumii might but I already have her in an FC and I'm not sure where I'm going with her just yet). I've also not seen too many criminal themed LS's or FC's around to join with that kind of character so I've held back from making one so far. Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to be free to RP too much until the middle of May because of offline stuff but if you do stick with it I might have a character to join you.

It'll probably open up again in the early hours of the morning. Trying at prime time is probably going to be a no go for a week or so yet.

Yep, I've been getting that problem all night. Though, apparently it really hates custom emotes. The other channels don't seem to bug as much for me.

Actually it turns out I can but no, the others are either cheesy or I took them from other games/books/films, I like The D.A.R.C. most of all myself, I`d be glad if it was chosen, its not often I have creative moments But... but.... Oh fine. I have no convincing argument to make you tell.

Lothaire should probably, icly, be in Limsa Lominsa but since they locked the classes to specific cities, and I simply must be a THM, he's staring in Ul'dah. I'm pretty sure I can find a reason for him to be loitering around Ul'dah if you or anyone else wants to meet up and RP some time though.

I am going to be a THM too. Because setting things on fire is too much fun. *nods*
