The fights held therein are considered no-holds-barred, and all that is outlawed is the usage of weapons and magic, and death. Combatants have been known to lose eyes and fingers, pride and dignity to the underground stage hidden beneath an unassuming apothecary in the depths of the Black Shroud… While ultimately, the injuries taken by each combatant are up to the player, the outcome of each attack is decided by opposing rolls of /random; due to the structure of the event, no character sheets are required, making it easy for combatants who have never participated to jump in on the event. The /random element helps to ensure fair fights while still keeping things easy and accessible. Those who would rather not fight are encouraged to spectate, drink, drug, and place bets upon the outcomes. For those of you familiar with similar events, we use the common system of ‘first-to-three’ as used by events such as The Grindstone, The Mystic Runestone, and The Gin Mill. Each combatant rolls for initiative – the command to roll is /random. The highest roll wins initiative and attacks first. The attacking player writes their emote in /yell. Once they have posted, they roll the die – /random The defending playing rolls their die to defend – /random. If the defender rolls higher than the attacker, they have successfully avoided the attack either in part or in full; a lower roll, however, means that the attack was successful. In the event of a tie, the roll is awarded to the defender. After determining the result, the defender then posts in /yell to show the effect of the attack, and levy their own in response. The attacker and defender switch roles and repeat, starting with the attacker’s roll. The defender is now on the offensive and the attacker is defending. The first person to win three contests wins the match; remember that it isn’t “first to three” in character. The losing character will be KO’d, submit, or tap out on their third loss as determined by the character’s player. We do this so as to keep fights relatively short. This event makes heavy use of /random and /yell, and we encourage you to have these channels visible to fully enjoy the event.
  3. 1 • Respect First and foremost, and above all else, maturity and respect are to be shown towards our own and others. While this includes our moderation and administration staff, it extends to all members and non-members as well. Gossip-mongering, spreading rumours, or speaking cruelly to others will not be tolerated. This includes those who may be newer to the game or to roleplay than we are. 2 • Age While Thorn & Antler hold no expectations for in-character age, we hold a strict 18+ policy for the out-of-character age of Free Company Members, Discord Members, and Linkshell Members. Please keep this in mind if and when inviting others. Any found to be underage will be ejected and banned until their 18th birthday. 3 • LGBTQ-Friendly While this largely falls under the first, it never hurts to repeat oneself: out-of-character, Thorn & Antler is an LGBTQ-friendly network. We do not claim to be a 'safe space', but attacks on anyone's gender identity, gender expression, sexuality, faith, race, ethnicity, et al. will not be tolerated under any circumstances, regardless of their involvement as an associate, FC member, or linkshell member. 4 • Consent Thorn & Antler believes in free self-expression, but also in respect. What our members choose to roleplay is their own responsibility, as we believe in complete seperation of character and player - just because you write something doesn't mean you support it. In and of that, however, much of the content we will be dealing with may be uncomfortable for some others, and as such we ask that... if you are uncomfortable with something going on in a roleplay, that you speak up or excuse yourself within reason, if someone requests you take certain aspects of your posts to a more private channel like /party or /tell, you do so to the best of your ability and, no one is to be mocked or teased for anything they find uncomfortable or upsetting; we've all had different experiences, and no one owes explanation 5 • Content Thorn & Antler is, by its very nature, rife with dark and mature content - themes in our storyline will deal with drug abuse, drug addiction, human trafficking, sex, violence, and more. Themes of homophobia may arise as well. Applicants to the Free Company are expected to be aware of this, and okay with this. While ultimately rule [4] is in effect, we will hold the general assumption that those who do not wish their characters to be involved in these activities, or those who are uncomfortable reading or writing such themes, will rethink application.

We aim to provide a warm and welcoming community for those who play morally-grey, or morally-black characters, putting quality of members over quantity, and giving every character their chance to shine and an outlet to grow. We intend to hold events both centered around the Free Company and its members as well as holding weekly or monthly public events such as fight competitions, gambling, black markets, and more. Thorn & Antler stands as an apothecary situated in North Shroud, north-west of Fallgourd Float and Proud Creek; to the public eye, it is known as an apothecary, marketing all manner of healing herbs and high-quality teas to the people of the Shroud, and offering trade with the hunters, gatherers, and occasionally poachers that pass through. To those who catch the hushed whispers in Buscarron's Druthers or the Bobbing Cork, however, one can acquire far more potent potions and poisons from the old, battered Raen who seems to own the shop, and on certain nights each month, it's said that fights are held for the amusement and profit of those who attend - no holds barred, and with plenty of coin to be earned.
