Hello! I think I've been absent and inactive enough to justify making one of these. So here it is! Yo, this is Roda. I was active here, and in game for about the first two months of ARR, but thanks to an absolutely garbage GPU pooping out at every inopportune moment I never quite got the chance to actually RP for real reals, so I eventually had to cut my losses and move onto other games that wouldn't trigger a minor graphical calamity every 15 minutes. Thankfully, my GPU recently disemboweled itself all over my computer, forcing me to finally upgrade. And with this snazzy new computer, I thought I'd tackle the graphical boss that is FFXIVARR! And then I met Hildibrand. And saw the still bustling RP scene. (Serisously, on an unofficial RP server, I've never seen an RP scene so active.) And I want to come back and stay back. I want to RP for the first time for reals, with no interruptions like before! So I changed my character's look, I tossed out the general outline that was trying to compensate for my frequent crashes, and am totally not going to cower too hard from RP opportunities (Ok, no I will, I'm too shy, halp;; ) So I hope you'll take me a second (and hopefully final) time, into your community. ~Roda Proust

Garuda, Titan, and Ultima Weapon all have my heart. Just love the contrast of the two primal songs with the fantasy setting, and I adore the vocals on the Ultima Weapon's song. EDIT: Ok, never mind. Just did the Good King Moogle Mog fight. That. That song. I choose that fight song.

I've used the English voices this entire time, and they aren't too bad (I mean they're certainly not QUALITY, but they're not as horrid as some would have you believe). My biggest issue is that the animations are just too robotic for me. (Turns SO fast, no thought when reaching into a pocket and handing my character an invisible thing when they're forever away, mouth flaps just packmanning about, no animation flows with the next animation...)

I use voice #3 on my Miqo'te. It's a bit raspy, but still retains its adorableness. Plus it's the one that sounds least like she's taking a difficult poo when I /furious.

When in doubt Keybinds has all your answers to the age old question, "Now what was that hot key??!" Also, remember to turn using right click and moving your mouse, and cast skills by using your hotkeys.

I don't watch too too much anime / read manga, but I juuuust finished Puella Magi Madoka Magica and am currently watching Attack on Titan (cause who isn't?) and Danganronpa. My all-time favorites are Durarara, and Mushi-Shi.

Have you ever seen an elderly Miqo'te? (Although, in all seriousness, I'm kind of wondering this too.) Wouldn't that be an argument for their longevity then? Or they get themselves offed before anyone could determine their lifespan.

So far it has been the Sunken Temple of Qarn. Not because of mechanics, but because most tanks haven't learned how to play yet for some reason... :frustrated:

Call me a purist, but this would really upset me. A lot of the AF sets are iconic to the Final Fantasy series. I'd be pretty annoyed to see a red Dragoon set or a green Paladin set. It would ruin the job for me a bit. That's just me though. *cough cough*

It's not the background color of the icon that say whether or not a piece of gear is dyable, it's whether or not there's a tiny dye-color-circle in the corner of the icon.

How about, instead of making a fuss over an RPer's probability of leaving a game, we try to give them a solid reason to stay? I know people who hop from game to game due to the fact that they can't find RP. If you ignore that person because they can't seem to stick to a game, well, you're not really helping now are you? [Ok I just cut off a rant and just gonna auto-tl;dr it. NEITHER SIDE OF THE FENCE SHOULD STAY ROOTED TO THEIR COMFORT ZONE. MEETING NEW PEOPLE IS COOL, BEING NEW PEOPLE IS COOL. IF THINGS DON'T GO AS PLANNED, GOOD. IT'S TWO KINDS OF CHARACTER BUILDING!] Yelling isn't mad, yelling is SPIRITED!

This seems to be almost exactly what I want to get out of my RP, but there are a few things Iffy about.. Let's see... Yes, we see eye-to-eye here. One-mood-characters are fun to interact with occasionally, but having them around constantly certainly does get tiring. Very good. I love more casual group dynamics. Power differences tend to create and reinforce cliques within the group. (and I am very anti-cliques) Well, I do have to admit that I have given my character a single gimmick, but it was more out of necessity than wanting to make a special snowflake. :T (Trust me, my character and I both would love it if I didn't have to use it.) But! It is mentioned within the lore (to a degree), and it does a marvelous job at being the catalyst for her decision to become an adventurer. Tssk. I am very understanding when it comes to stuff like this, but I would prefer it if there was an IC reason for why someone has to leave for a bit. I am a self-proclaimed method RPer, and the word "scene" scares me a bit. When an RP tends to feel too scheduled, I lose engagement fast. I want to experience what my character experiences, and vice versa. And this exchange in experiences is what fuels my character's reactions. So, if I experience the passage of time, I want my character to feel that too. This makes it difficult for me to just press "pause" (well, a short pause to evade out wait out griefers, or to deal with some small RL BS is fine. But) if we're strolling along, hunting in the black shroud, and someone remembers they have to be at a party in 45 minutes, or someone gets involved in something big, and then has to go on a planned vacation in the middle of it, I very much do not want to have to stop time for that. Amen to that. (Although, unless it's scheduled ICly, I want little to do with it!) I am not much for the bar scene IRL, and I'm even less so ICly. Although, ironically, my first bit of XIV RP was in a tavern, but booze and tales of her heroics (lol) was the last thing on her mind when she decided to enter it. Also, it was my first (not totally awful) RP session ever! Grats u silly man u. Yes. Yes yes yes. Yes yes yes yes. Yes. (Although I do wonder how we will interpret traversing through time and space..) This is precisely what I built my character for. This is precisely what I did not build my character for. I've seen far too many RP communities get destroyed by having the population divided among small cliques. So, when creating my character, I made her so she couldn't dare rely on one group of people. Instead, she gets to experience all sorts of folk! And while she does get to make friends, and go on adventures, she can never stay too long, and she could not ask for others to come with her. (Thank goodness there are link pearls!) This is wonderful. This means nothing to this FFnoob. Hey now, Villainy is subjective. The word you're looking for is antagonist, or maybe opposition. Evil is boring. Morally grey is exciting! And I took way too flippin' long to do that.
