I managed to create a character at 1 AM EST myself so late night seems best at the moment.

I'm tempted to make a whole new character using my own existing one but with a different glamour set, complete with her own skills, personality and backstory. I thought it would be a fun idea to have Chiyo have her one look-alike running around and maybe even may a side-plot out of it. I'm thinking of either having her just come from a foreign land or even another world, though the latter might be a stretch. I can understand the idea might be a bit taboo rp wise, that's why I wanted to know what you guys think. Of course, this would essentially be an npc.

Despondent Xaela in need of a kind soul.

I'd be happy to have Chiyo possibly brighten her spirits if Najila wouldn't mind her slightly assertive personally. -
So after coming back(ish) to rping, I went ahead and re-work Chiyo's backstory. The layout is still the same (I prefer more traditional-type wikis) but've made a lot of adjustments. I still need to update the relationships though. Feedback is appreciated!

balmung Hostile Refugees Spotted in Thanalan [RP Battle Event]
CrimsonMars replied to CrimsonMars's topic in Chronicled Events
http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=17722 -
Attack on Flame The refugees are growing more and more pathetic as they form their little resistance. Their thrust for power and blood has gotten them to where they are now. They shalt to take over all of Eorzea, but now they're on they're knees in front of its legs the moment their land was taking away. How ironic. They say "destruction is power" as they praise their mighty god, Rhaglr, but is it Rhaglr that has called destruction on them? Perhaps it is Rhaglr Himself that has pass His judgement on Ala Mhigo, as if to pay for its crimes. Who am I to judge the might of the gods? Some refugees will do anything for a second chance, or, for revenge. No more how radical it seems. Some are willing to attack the very people who tried to assist them. Case in point, the Grand Companies. It is truly shameful. Immortal Flame soldiers had been beaten by these hostile refugees, all just to seemly prove a point,. Although they are less than experienced fighters, they were using a drug that forces their charka open temporally, but at a price. Many prices, rather. It bugs me to see they cannot put the effort of gaining the strength themselves. I had a mind to kill them, but eight fighters stepped in to face them. This was an interesting bunch, so I sat back and watched. Two paladins, a gunwoman, some sort of summoner, a lancer, a swordswoman, a doman pugilist, and a dimwit kitten all joined the fury against the four bandits. Despite being outnumbered, the bandits put up a fight, but only because of the drug they were using. They all exchanged blows as the bandits were using dirty tactics in order to win. The bandits proved to be a formidable bunch, much to the adventurers' and Flame soldiers' dismay, and my disappointment. The drugs they were using seem to have deadly side effects upon overdose, as one of the bandits died after taking too many. Good riddance. The eight fighters were at least competent however, holding their own against the bandits for a time. I however, grew bored, so I stepped in to assault the nearest grunt, showing no mercy. Then as I was just about to finish the other two off, the dimwit kitten tried to stop me. Even if they wanted to apprehend them, they deserved to die. However, this was the opportunity to test her strength, and so I challenged her, which the intent to kill if she was too weak. Thankfully, she put up a better fight than I though (or I'm getting old). With that said, she was still no much for mineself, and she was meant with the sand. I noticed she was undergoing a transformation through all this but she didn't seem to realize this. Perhaps she is just like me after all... My dear, sweet Chiyo... ...I have to stop him.

There is currently one more guarantee spot left. All others after than will be put on the waiting list in case one or more can't make it. With that, I am aim for Friday, November the 11th at 8PM EST. Do note that it's subjective to change at any time. -
There has been reports of hostile refugees that are specifically targeting Immortal Flames soldiers, Brass Blades and adventurers alike. It is unknown whether they are in league with the Corpse Brigade, the Alacans, or the Imperials, but they are considered armed an dangerous with four casualties so far. If spotted, contact the authorities immediately and proceed with extreme caution. This will be a battle event against four hostile Ala Mhigan npcs who are ambushing soldiers and adventurers alike in the name of the resistance. For this event, both the npcs and the players will 15 hit points. When a player reach 0, they are not killed (unless you wish them to be, ask me for details), just unable to fight anymore. It will be up to the player on what will happen after that. Each hit will be based on /random and both the players and enemies will take turns fighting. Highest roll wins (My rolls will represent the enemies). Addition Rules: Any winning attack roll over 850 will result in a critical hit! (-3 hit points). Any winning defense roll over 850 will result in a counter attack against the attacker (-1 hit point). This applies to both sides. On occasion, 2 or more of the npcs will gang up on an individual player. For this, multiple roles will ensue depending on how many will attack. Enemies will roll first, then the defense. For example, if three enemies rolls 102, 709, and 609 and you roll 802, 598, and 68, you would only get hit 2 times. If all three of your rolls are higher, then you don't get hit at all. Critical hits apply for this, but not counter attacks. In the case of aoes, you may do so if you choose. There is no defense roll for the enemies. Instead, you would need a roll of 700+ to hit two enemies, 800+ for three and 900+ for all four. Any lower than a 700 will result in a miss. Healing is allowed, but it will take one turn. Any healing will restore one hit point. Date: 11/11/16, 8:00 PM EST (Show up early at 7 for a meet and greet and for story purposes (optional). Actual fight starts at 8) Up to eight players can participate but there will be a waiting list for those who can't make it. 1. Chiyo Hoshi 2. Shino Senkatsu 3. Nicholas Holt 4. Sayina Kha 5. Gunduin Banedriver 6. Andras Astora 7. Renias Athidrial 8. Jana Ridah Waiting list 1. Savona Drake 2. A'lera Treon 3. Cyneler Fenrir 4. Fight will take place in Southern Thanalan and the event will last up to an hour or so, regardless if all the enemies are defeated by then. Also, we have a linkshell for communication purposes called "NPC Boss Arena." The linkshell is optional but it'll be easier to keep in touch of everyone.

The main idea so is to get in touch with your roots, and to aid in the residence of course. I do have a couple of ideas but I wanted to learn as much as possible about the expansion as more information gets revealed so that I won't stray too far from the lore like I almost did with Heavensward. This is early in development after all, but I do see your point.

I should clarify that her mother managed to fled Ala Mhigo at the time of the invasion so Chiyo was born somewhere else in Eorzea. I'm been pondering on giving Chiyo some connections to Ala Mhigo well before the Stormblood announcement but only recently did I decide to give her backstory more depth to it. I saw Stormblood as more of an opportunity to give her a personal story than making Chiyo part Ala Mhigan for the sake of it. With that said, I'm not planning on having Chiyo converted. Previously, she wasn't totally interested in Ala Mhigan culture to begin with. Also, thank you guys for the pointers so far! Hopefully, I'll use this information to flesh this out farther. And if it doesn't work out, that's okay. Worst-case scenario, I'll just drop the idea.

I'm currently in the process of revising my main character, Chiyo's backstory while retconing as little as possible. She is biologically part of the Ebonclaw clan on her father's side but I am mainly focusing on her mother's side of the family, culture and inheritance, as well as making a few tweaks. Here's what I've come up with so far: Chiyo is an Ala Mhigan descendant and is quarter highlander, hence being rather tall for a miqo'te. I know cross-breeding is rather rare but I figured Chiyo can be one of those rare cases. Previously, I had Chiyo unlocked up to six charka rather quickly but I realized that it was a bit of a stretch, so I'm cutting it down to one or two, and only just recently learn about charka from Berrod. I'd like to consider Chiyo as a prodigy, but still very much ignorant on how charkas work and her heritage. Chiyo was born long after Ala Mhigo was taking over. Her mother was nothing special but her grand parents were strong soldiers, which her grandmother being a former disciple of Rhalgr before the fall and became a foul-mouth hermit. I plan to make her an NPC. I was wondering what might of happen to the other Ala Mhigan's who didn't escape or got killed. Did they became prisoners/slaves? Knowing this would help shed some light for her grandfather as well. I may consider rewriting Chiyo's backstory entirely, since being "raised: by beastmen seemed a little far-fetched. My goal is to give Chiyo some character development as she learns more about where she came from, especially with the release of Stormblood. Please, let me know what you think. I would LOVE some suggestions as well!

So it seems like owning an apartment is a lot less hectic than we anticipated with a good number of them on Goblet aren't even full yet as of this post so if you're still interested in owning a room, you still have plenty of time. I've yet to check the other residential areas thoroughly yet though but it seems like we were worried for nothing.

Valiant Technicks (VALT) is a brand new rp, but we are an unaffiliated FC that is usually base on Mor Dhona recruiting adventurers and crafters alike! We're still fleshing everything out but as of now, we are certainly recruiting. You can talk to Aziza Nightshade for further details if you;'re interested.

Sorry for going off-topic but I got a quick unrelated question: During maintenance, will the "Play" button automatically switch on when the servers come back online or will we have to refresh the client? I'm on PS4 btw. Back on topic, all I really want is my own apartment in Ul'dah. Otherwise, I'm as prepared as I'll ever be.
-
I forget. In the Ul'dean coliseum, do they actually fight to the death or is that forbidden? Also, would there be any circumstances for fighting there? (Prizes, punishment, etc)

Just yesterday, I was invited to try out the PS4 4.0 Beta. Basically an update for the PS4 dashboard. Does anyone else got into it? We finally get folders! :moogle:
