  1. In what context? 9 times out of 10 it will create even more chance for exploraition. Using Altepa again, I remember going to the northern most part once for a quest, finding some cool ruins to explore then while hiking back to the zone boarder I found that cactuar for the very first time, a few other caves and ruins off to the fringe of the zone border. Given a mount early, or midway through the leveling that you can summon at any time results in 90% of people just running down the beaten path that connects point A to point B the fastest without taking time to look around and explore. With the introduction of crystal teleporting it will be easier as well. Go out and explore, lose your chocobo, hoof it around to the crystal and teleport back to the town to snag another mount if you want. Having your own personal mount would be a good idea, but calling upon it at anytime...nah, put some limits to it.
  2. They have a tarutaru sweatshop and make some awesome Nike shoes.
  3. I'm all for an "unofficial" RP server but I don't really wish to join a vastly underpopulated server. PvE is a passion of mine and i'll be doing a whole lot of it, so I would rather not have a server like Moon Guard on WoW where 90% of the population were lvl 1-20 alts all tavern sitting. A medium or high population server would be great. I don't foresee a server ostracizing the RP community, as most people from FFXI took part in some sort of RP at times back in the day. Also not having any sort of PvP within the game will attract a lot less assholes to the game, which again will make the chances of people flipping over there being RP on a server very unlikely. As for random selection I would hope by now that will no longer be the case, and I don't think it will. When I went back to FFXI a few months ago on a trial I noticed you could select you server now from a list. I don't think SE will revert back to the random server after having fixed that issue (No one liked the random server crap).
  4. C:There's nothing forcing you to do something like attune quests for all 8 characters. That's your choice in the long run really, because you have chosen to focus on 8 characters instead of 1. They do have to make room for the saving of character information and such on their side so that would probably be why the restriction is there. Even a game that was not as graphically intense, aka WoW only had a set amount of character slots per server. Perhaps it will be 1 slot per server for FF14, but I can see the reason behind this. B: B:Hop on board when the game goes for PS3 then. The original FFXI was nothing like it is today, or even what it was when RoZ came out. Remember that FFXI came out for PC first, in Japan and was later released to PS2 with RoZ, which introduced a lot more zones, additional classes and story missions (Original FFXI only had a few city missions and that was it.). What you'll see in beta tomorrow and leading up to release will be a large building block for what is to come class-wise. A:The pricing model is great imo, but I think that way due to my belief in raising a single character. I don't need multiple alts because if I RP, i'll just stick to the one character RPwise and PvE progression wise. The overall monthly fee is less then WoW, for a game that is shaping up to be much better in comparison (And how old is WoW? Or other games that charge 15+ a month?).
  5. Travel will be pretty easy from what I have heard. Now you can teleport to any crystal you've visited instead of having to teleport to a crag and then hoof it/ride from there.
  6. There is, you can select the area around the text with a wand, then inverse the selection and expand it out slightly. Fill that area with a color for an outline and tweak it from there. You could also copy the text layer, scale it up slightly and make it a different color. Then arrange the layers to make it appear like an outline. Or if you hate yourself and your fingers you can sit there and manually draw the outline for each letter D:
  7. I liked the Chocobo's of FFXI because it was your choice or not to dismount and be left to hoof it in the middle of like Eastern Altepa or jungle I cant remember the name of by the Ifrit Volcano. But sometimes you chose to dismount just to get a look at something that perked your eye.
  8. I would rather the system FFXI had with chocobos that were on a duration. Mounts tend to just simplify the world and that's something FFXI had going for it over WoW. I can remember a few things of WoW where I was like "Whoa look at that" Or "That's pretty cool!"...but in FFXI I was jawdropped zoning into Xarcabard for the first time and wandering around in the desolate snow. Or finding strange caves in Altepa I would have not even noticed wizzing by on a mount. Mounts at max level? Maybe, after people have explored, but then with each expansion afterwards it would make mounts ruin much of the exploration.
  9. So from what I can gather....Uldana = San'Doria. Limsa = Bastok and Gridania = Windy. At least that's how I see it roughly translated. I'm torn between Limsa and Uldana. My first character was Sandoria in FFXI, and that town was amazing, but Bastok was very centralized and interesting.
  10. I've never really been fond of alts, I usually just devote all my time and resources to one character to go above and beyond. I never really saw a need for alts as well on FFXI other then my single mule I used to store all my random gear, food and crafting mats.
  11. Utterly amazing Simurgh video. :flower:
  12. I would like to see what our inventory is like in 14. I remember it was rather annoying in 11 how items you were wearing were still considered in your inventory. Made going out to the field to farm a task in and of itself. I didn't mind doing the gobbiebag quests but some of them were slightly annoying to do when they were released, as the market value on the items would explode through the roof for a good few months. If we had the ability to have a huge storage container somewhere in game like a bank that would be great.
