Hit me up in game and I'll invite you to the OOC LS. That way you can chat with us while you get your character to a place you like. And you can get a little random RP in with us to try us out if you'd like. I'll keep an eye out for you, when I'm able to log in again.

Main Storyline: A Matter of Taste, or RP Etiquette?
cuideag replied to Gone4everbye's topic in RP Discussion
I tend to consider the main storyline OOC for Jajara, as she is not at all magically gifted with the crystal etc etc. Just a regular ol' lalafell with a thing for digging up rocks and beating up wildlife. (sort of.) Sidequests I do consider somewhat IC, though, because Jajara would be the type of person to help the smallfolk. They're her kind of people! So if someone asks her to go fetch some bat wings or frog poison or whatever, she'll probably be obliged to do it just because it would seem rude not to. "Well, so long as I'm going out thataways... Why not?" I don't have much of a problem if anyone does actually want to RP as a The Big Hero(es) because, well, they're paying to have fun and if that's fun for them then who am I to tell them to stop? BUT if encountered IC with such claims, Jajara would probably be veeeeery skeptical. No one has to accept anyone's RP if they don't agree with it but as long as everyone can observe some basic RP etiquette (like you can't force another character to think/feel/behave certain ways) then I see no reason why it would make problems for the greater community. Just might end up with a lot of people with some really tall tales. And hey, they have to start somewhere, right? -
Yeah that was my thought. I'm not too concerned about it IMO but thank you for the offer.

Been meaning to poke about the enjin though my character still hasn't been ironed out to a level I'm completely happy with. She is going to be primarily a craftsman though (goldsmithing!), with a healthy side of kicking butt. XI:7 seems veeeeery interesting.

Love the eyes... but I think I love the eyebrows and the hair the most. :>

Concerning the cancelling the queue issue, I had a friend who set his script up so that it stops when detecting that a certain pixel (presumably in or near the difference of space between the 1017 window and the queue window) was different, it would halt itself. I have no idea how to do that, though. Had been going about it manually but I might give this a try. Thank you for sharing!

Did manage to get on twice tonight with a little persistence, however I subsequently crashed both times because I had to alt-tab to look something up. ~_~ Probably for the best as I do have to do things around the house but still...

This is quite a nice gesture and I was happy to toss a few words along as well. Grievances aside, they did do something quite remarkable. I will be pleased as peaches when the server issues on our side are resolved, hopefully sooner than later. I had gone from completely disinterested in the game about a month ago to very eager to play. I'll blame it on the lalafells.

Problem is there is no login queue to be stuck in, you just get a message informing you that the server is full with no indication of when you'll be able to play and your only option is to sporadically try to log in in the vain hope you'll get to play. I personally feel this, and the "you were in a queue, but the world is full, here's your error!" are the two worst parts of how Square is handling this. Agreed. It's really kind of baffling. Other MMOs have added servers when they saw how slammed their existing servers were, or upped population caps. While I can understand not wanting to open the floodgates at the sacrifice of server performance... I still don't quite understand the lack of login queues. 1017s are far more frustrating, IMO, than having to wait in a queue.

Sorry to derail, but... Ayenee? Wow, didn't expect to find another person from there. Couple of us around. IMO splintering is inevitable anyway with servers being nigh unacessable to a lot of us. In a few weeks the pops will settle down, yes, but as someone mentioned before it is entirely unfair and unreasonable to expect people who have a vested interest in playing to sit idle until SE gets this mess of theirs figured out. My WoW homeserver of Feathermoon saw splits as well when queues were a "huge problem" (how I wish we had them now!). It was sad, sure, but many folks did come back after populations became stable. I don't expect any different here. What would be best is to at least come to a decision at least for the benefit of anyone who might be wanting to join the community from this point forward. Y'know as opposed to the, "Welcome! Can't join? That's too bad." sort of vibe I'm getting.

It isn't much of a fancy screen but for some reason I really dig it.

Hope to see you online soon enough. Interesting character idea. Miners unite!

Yeah had this happen to me. Was in a queue of only 53 people for about 10 seconds before it kicked me into a 1017. I'm gonna stick with Balmung, though, for my main.... maybe roll something to goof around with elsewhere though if I really need to itch the craving.

Hallooo! Looking forward to seeing you in game. :>

Crossing my fingers for an actual minion. Not going to lie, just seeing the pictures in the OP made me all kinds of happy. :moogle:

I was hoping to play after work but maybe not. Here's to hoping the issues are resolved soon.

Looking forward to attending this! ... if my schedule works out. Sounds like it will be a lot of fun!

What are the haps my possible-future-friends!!!
cuideag replied to raddbromance's topic in Welcome Desk
High fives and hellooooooos. The world does need more lalafells. ESPECIALLY the kickin' rad kind! Hope to see you in game. -
I'm curious about this, too, but I haven't seen anyone RPing in the open just yet. No idea about the emotes though I'm afraid.

NOTE (6/1/2017): GONNA UPDATE THIS REAL SOON I PROMISE IT'S BEEN LIKE 4 YEARS DANG I. Basic Info Characters: Jajara Jara, Delial Grimsong Primary character: Delial Grimsong Linkshells: Tenative Allies Primary RP linkshell: None! II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I tend to adapt! I really enjoy story driven stuff even though I'M REALLY BAD AT IT, but I equally enjoy things on a more casual level. Views on RP combat and injuries: 100% fine! I don't do a lot of combat heavy RP but, given they're RPed out, I will gladly accept combat and combat damage. Views on IC romance: I LOVE IT I REALLY DO... as long as it serves an IC purpose. As it stands, neither of my characters are actively seeking it as they are both in relationships already so there's that! Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Heck yes! Both come from communities they've been sort of distanced from for one reason or another so I absolutely love working out ties and relationships on a platonic or even familial level in Jajara's case. Views on lore: I RP in a Final Fantasy game where Hildibrand is 100% absolutely canon so if you can RP something that isn't "Lore Appropriate" in a convincing way then chances are I will happily enjoy it with you. There are limits of course but I won't hate a cool character for doing Final Fantasy type things. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): /say is always IC. /tell can be, and I will use brackets in most OOC cases just because it's a habit. Linkshell and FCs can be either way but I do prefer to do most of my RP in public channels. III. Other Info Country: USA Timezone: Central Contact info: I'm most easily reached via PM here or on Discord. I will give my Discord contact upon request.

Helloooo, HRC. I've been lurking about these forums for a little bit while I decided whether or not I wanted to take the plunge into another MMO and, weeeeelll, I guess it's happening! So hello, and nice to meet you all. C: --MMORPG background My first was probably Ragnarok Online when it was still in KRO-beta mode ages and ages ago and I can say that I've at least had some experience playing most of the big MMOs that have come since. FFXI was my first "real" MMO and while I have not been able to go back to it, I do still have fond memories of RDM. WoW was the one I stayed with the longest so if anyone might know me it would be as Delial of Feathermoon. Warhammer Online, Rift, SWTOR, Guild Wars 2, and Neverwinter have all seen their own Delials running about as well so hullo if I've seen you in any of those. --RP experience I started poking around on the internet about 13 years ago and I've been RPing in one form or another since then. I started out in Yahoo! chatrooms (Ayenee!) doing paragraph RP with whomever and then I moved on to MMOs when that became a thing. Though it's a little odd, I've spent much of the last year between GW2 and admin/loremaster duties on Minecraft RP servers - yeah, they're a thing! I've been having a bit of difficulty getting back into the swing of more MMO-flavored things but I still enjoy it very much and look forward to meeting new (and possibly old!) folks to RP with. :> --Character ideas/info I have a certain love of morally ambiguous, almost anti-hero types so I will no doubt be rolling out something to that effect. My two true OCs which I seem to lug around with me in every MMO I pop onto tend to fall into the above so I'll no doubt be reincarnating them in one form or another here. Currently in the process of downloading that benchmark character creation thingy so I can play around with that until early access! Eager to try something more melee oriented as I have traditionally played casters (mostly healers) in previous MMOs, so... lalafell lancer? Sounds awesome. :> --How did you learn about the coalition? Just googled it out of curiosity to see if there would be any sort of RP communities forming up despite the lack of official RP servers, and here I am! --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? I... consider myself to be heavy-ish? in that I try to be IC at all times if possible, but not so much in that I expect to be orchestrating all kinds of crazy storylines and plots and so on. In that respect I am much more casual, not to mention much more comfortable. In a perfect situation I'll be able to join a heavily IC but otherwise casual FC to roll around with on Balmung as I have other friends on another server I'll likely be playing with as well. --Anything from real life you'??re comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I don't have any kids but I have six beautiful corn snake babies and a large cat who thinks he's a dog.
