  1. Pet threads, yaaaay! I'll share my babies with y'all. That's Seti, a maine coon mix of some sort (he was rescued as a stray so we don't know for sure) who acts more like a dog than a cat. He's a big, very spoiled boy and he gets upset when we sit on "his" furniture. He also likes to sleep in weird positions but I think that's a cat thing anyhow. That's Castiel, my littlest of little corn snake babies. He's a snow and he's incredibly chill. That's Castiel's "sister", Ruby. Yeaah, they're named after the Supernatural characters... >_> She's a little more spunky. Supposedly, she was the smallest of her clutch and our breeder expected her to die but she's shown a VERY strong feeding response so she's doing wonderfully. She's a blood red and she doesn't like to take pictures. @_@ That's Thessaly, a hypomelanistic, and she was my first snake along with her "sister" who's coming up next. An absolute darling and she loves to climb on peoples' heads. She's named after the witch in Neil Gaiman's Sandman series. That's my fiance's baby, a vanishing ghost stripe named Ghost (named after his lack of imagination). The first pic is from when we first got her and she was just a tiny little noodle of a thing but now she is almost three feet long! She enjoys pretending she's a tree python and eating mice butt-first. That's Oda, a caramel. If you look at him from certain angles, his "eyebrows" look like he's scowling at you but he's really a big sweetie. He and his "brother" are the biggest of our snakes at over three feet though they are not much older than Ghost and Thessaly. Last but not least, we have DeGaulle who is probably my favorite in terms of beauty. He is a ghost bloodred and he has the most amazing blue eyes.
  2. (( Actually kind of curious to see if someone might consider poor Jajara to be 'armed and dangerous' @__@ ))
  3. I grew up with anime so it never really struck me as anything particularly special (Anpanman and Ninja Turtles make for a weird childhood), and as such I don't follow it or manga as much as people might think I would being half-Japanese. I am currently watching Attack on Titan, however, as I think the concept is really very interesting and I am a sucker for tragedy. Just recently watched and finished Puella Magi Madoka Magika and found myself liking it far more than I thought I would. Other than that, not really keeping up with anything... Old favorites include Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Big O, Full Metal Alchemist (the first one), and .hack//SIGN strangely enough. Studio Ghibli flicks go without saying. My Neighbor Totoro is still easily one of my favorite movies and it holds a very, very dear place in my heart. Grave of the Fireflies is one of the few movies that will make me weep like a baby.
  4. ^ ^ ^ As much as I LOVE pretty young people, it would be so nice to have some variety. Of course you can always RP as an older person but having an avatar that goes with it is helpful.
  5. If one asked her what her strengths were, it would be highly unlikely that "memory" would be among her answers. "Why," she might say, "There's times when I can't remember my birthday or which way is north or what I had for breakfast today." Yet at times, usually when she least expected it, odd fragments would return to her out of the depths of forgetfulness. Typically they were insignificant: an odd joke told by her youngest brother, the limp in her father's leg, or the earthy smell of blankets that had already been ancient when Jajara herself was but a newborn. Their meeting had seemed insignificant of the time, of course. She was but a fresh and hopeful face looking to find employment and she had come at Mister Shipkeeper's behest to prove her skills. The ship she found herself sitting upon unnerved her to no end, constantly creaking and rolling even in the calm sway of the sea. It was not Ul'dah - far from it, geographically and physically - and when the rain had started to fall she had only begun to feel less and less eager to stay. Yet a presence had stepped up behind her, so quiet that she almost did not notice. It was the man in black robes and an absurdly wide brimmed hat, to whom the others had given strange and wary glances. She had thought nothing of it, knowing not their significance if there was any to be found in the first place for they were all strangers to her then. Raindrops ceased pelting her skin and when she had looked up, curious as to whether or not it had been intentional, she had only been met with a faint but gentle smile. Jajara saw less and less of Ul'dah lately. The company's ship was not home but she took some comfort in the way it groaned and shifted beneath her feet. And when the rains rolled through on heavy grey clouds, her mind would inevitably drift away to recall that first and foreboding smile.
  6. Also wanted to add that I am perfectly OK with friend requests. Though if you really want to, you can send me a /tell beforehand. I don't mind either way!
  7. Gorgeous lines and anatomy. Seconding another voice in this thread: do you do comissions? :>
  8. (( I'll fix it. It's fine! Thank you! *huuugs* ))
  9. "So, uhh... 25 cut malachites..." "Yes." Check. "... 63 lapis lazuli..." "Yes, 63." Check. "Uhh. This oughta be about a dozen sphenes..." "Very good. Mistress Jara?" Audit, question mark. "... An' I made a couple'a lapis necklaces, too. Got all that?" It was a tall man who knelt beside her with a ledger in one hand and a quill in the other. By all means, Harvard looked every bit as professional as he felt: his coat was finely pressed and free of even the tiniest smudge of dust, an accomplishment especially considering the dusty streets of Ul'dah. His shoes were expertly shined and sounded soft as slippers on the stones wherever he walked. He did not smile and it was true that his features were severe to say the least but he carried with him an air of trust and responsibility, as though his work was indeed his sacred duty and the sacks of miscellenany he took from the diminutive lalafell were the holiest of relics. "Quite. Mistress Jara?" Jajara Jara blinked at him. "Huh?" Harvard gestured to his side with his brow. There was a stone block beside him that had not been there very long before and, for whatever reason, it appeared to have been quite intent on bumping into him repeatedly. "Might I ask...?" "No, you can't have 'im!" blurted Jajara with her eyebrows pinched in disappointment. "He was a present an' he's... well, I dunno what he is exactly but I guess he gets confused at times." With that, she reached over and patted the tottering block. "Come on, pumpkin', we better leave 'im to his work." She squinted at him as she walked off into the crowds and as, strangely, the stone block wobbled and tumbled after her on tiny grey legs. Harvard stood and glanced at his sleeve. Broad lines of white, chalky powder marred his sleeves and he could already feel the eyes of other retainers and busy-bodies. His nostrils flared and, in his professional manner, Harvard began to count backwards.
  10. I didn't know how much I needed a tarutaru minion until I saw this.
  11. (( In an effort to get back into the habit of writing, I'm going to challenge myself to write little quick fics every day about IC encounters or events. I used to do these 100 word challenges with some old WoW friends and I suppose this is continuing that tradition. Comments are welcome! These are crossposted from the XI:7 forums. )) They did not speak in the weeks after the Calamity. Even when the Great Berimu, blessed with the wisdom borne of his name, led them to the oasis where the stars always shone the brightest, they shared no stories and sang no songs. It had been her father who told her that the stars themselves had blessed the place and so they came closer in hopes of hearing a beautiful song to share among their kind. They prayed and waited and huddled shivering around the fire. They stared and saw nothing but the wretched burning wound that was Dalamud and knew that the stars would be forever pale and cold, mere ghosts of themselves. "What do you expect to do?" Jajara listened to her breathing, the soft sounds her shoes made on the sand, to the occasional call of beasts in the distance. Straps of her leather satchel slapped against the backs of her legs and with them she counted the moments passing by. Only once did she think to turn around to fetch her watch, a gift from her father which had been rumored to have come from the hands of a Sultansworn; only once did she look back behind her and remind herself that there was no way to go but onward. So she pushed herself forward, rising and falling over the crests of dunes built and moved by hot, stinging winds. Great Berimu was hours to the north by now; not once had she heard his bellowing call, and Jajara had little reason to believe they would risk an extra day or two just to search for her. The thought drew a scowl to her face. Though she tried hard to focus on breath and step and motion, her thoughts inevitably drifted towards the last words she expected to ever hear from her mother. "What do you expect to do?" she had said and there was disappointment glistening like venom in her eyes. "What exactly can you do for anyone?" She shifted her backpack and wiped her brow. It was her uncle that had pointed a way and whispered well wishes. Somewhere at the edge of the desert stood the city of Ul'dah, and Jajara Jara had no where left to go.
  12. Oh my goodness, I really adore your expressions and poses... Very lovely dynamics with loads of character. Definitely going to be keeping an eye on this thread.
  13. As of late, I have been spending a majority of my time RPing with folks on Balmung, mostly in Limsa Lominsa. It helps that I am in an RP-oriented LS so we can coordinate where and when folks are RPing but I do see a fair amount of others in open-world RP as well. I can't compare to Gilgamesh as I haven't rolled there but I wouldn't say that Balmung is inactive by any means.
  14. I think it's either a 200 or 250 character limit, and yes you need to be friends to send mail. So hooray for more friends? That said... Jajara Jara - Lalafell
  15. There may not be many of us but we exist! I personally roam Ul'dah and Limsa when I'm RPing so maybe I might spot you one day. :>
  16. Jajara is not particularly bright. She can get along alright in social situations, and she can handle herself alright in a fight if she has to (or so she likes to think), but give her a puzzle and it'll knock her flat on her butt. Sometimes she has great difficulty following conversations especially those involving plans, places, and people she's not familiar with - something that happens often with the XI:7 and it's dealings. She also tends to be on the naive side of things and can have a hard time telling if she is being lied to. Sarcasm and satire can fly right over her head as well. Also, heights. But she's been fighting that battle with the help of a friend.
  17. Character Name: Jajara Jara (Balmung) Character Gender: Female Dunesfolk or Plainsfolk: Dunesfolk Time Zone: CST What Rp are you seeking? Nothing specific, really. I love casual RP as much as storyline RP (though the latter I am not especially good with). New friends and contacts (and potential customers!) are great to have! Jajara's Wiki page (not up to date! D:)
  18. IV. The Characters ( NOTE: These are just bite-sized chunks of stuff pulled from a post I made on Tumblr. ) NAME: Delial Grimsong RACE/CLAN: Highlander Hyur PROFESSION: Mercenary? Informant? Shady stuff! LIKES: Cheap wine, thigh highs, being more clever than her friends, magic. DISLIKES: Small enclosed spaces, solitude, being more clever than her friends, guns, politics. TUMBLR: vanitysruin WIKI @ RPC A known criminal and, to some, traitor, Delial Grimsong has spent much of her time in Eorzea at the heels of Garleans and Resistance alike. The Kinslayer maintains her distaste towards the Ala Mhigan Reistance especially after the latest debacle in the Shroud, but those nearest her know her heart has taken many turns since first they met - and with the doors home opening once more, it is only a matter of time before she must come to terms with who she really wants to be. ------ NAME: Jajara Jara RACE/CLAN: Dunesfolk Lalafell PROFESSION: Travelling merchant, artisan, pugilist. LIKES: Gil, fruit, campfires, exercise, bandanas, gemstones. DISLIKES: Water, birds, heights, spicy food. TUMBLR: jajara-jara WIKI @ RPC A daughter of a nomad clan that travels through the deep Sagolii desert, Jajara Jara has made a humble career for herself as a craftsman with a particular knack for metal craft. Eternally fond of gemstones and metals, Jara is no stranger to workshops and markets across Eorzea. While she is no adventurer, she nevertheless works closely with the Guild to help supply it, ever proud to share her work with the world outside her clan.

    Greetings

Lucky! It's been hard to find in my area as well, and my BF managed to grab what seemed to be one of the last few around not too long ago. @_@ Hope to see you in game! Broody dudes are cool dudes.
  20. Category A: You, OOCLY 1. Are there any any races you particularly love the opposite (or same) gender of? The models, the history, the lore, anything. I REALLY love Roegadyns. During the betas I rolled with a lovely Roegadyn lady and I had fully intended to continue on with her into launch but, alas, I found myself falling in love with Lalafells. As a huge surprise to myself, I actually really like Miqo'te males. The sitting pose makes me all kind so of happy and they just look -cool-. Their lore is pretty interesting as well, tribal structure and all. If there weren't so many of them I might have rolled one already. 2. How do you view interracial couples in -game-? It doesn't bother me. Some pairings make me wince just because of the physical implications but love is love. 3. Do your OOC feelings towards a particular race make you more open or affect what your character is looking for when they're either flirting around, pursuing romance, or just, in general, acting differently towards those individuals? Maybe a little. I don't think Jajara would ever consider a serious relationship with a Roegadyn even though they're a bunch of cuties, and spends her time being intimidated by them instead. Category B: Your character 1. Does your character seek friends or partners based predominantly on race? She probably doesn't mean to but she tends to gravitate towards other lalafell and tends to be a little warmer with them from the get-go. Which isn't to say she isn't friendly towards other races, but she probably somewhat years for the sort of closeknit kinship she had with her family before she left them and she probably thinks that the closest thing to that she'll get is with other Dunesfolk. She has not considered the thought of starting a relationship with anyone of another race but a) she has not made that many close friends as of yet, b) is not much of a romantic to begin with. As of now she is in the mindset that if she were to seek out a romantic partner, it would probably have to be another Dunesfolk - but things might change through RP. Who knows? It hasn't really come up. 2. How does your character view interracial pairings and are their feelings different from your own? It doesn't make a lot of sense to her, so she tends to view such pairings with quiet disapproval. For example, her employer (sorry Garryson!) is apparently in a relationship with a Miqo'te lady and seems otherwise attracted to Miqo'tes in general and it seems a little... wasteful? As it is her understanding that a -lot- of people of all races died in the Calamity and it seems to make sense to want to reproduce. That and the obvious potential physical challenges just make it seems like it would be way too much of a hassle to even bother. To be fair, she doesn't quite understand homosexuality either and feels the same way about that. Jajara thinks of romance in terms of practicality rather than emotional fulfillment and that's probably why she's single. >_> As mentioned, IRL I belong to the "Love is love" camp and so I support love of all colors and shapes.
  21. Sounds like a really cool idea. Hopefully I'll be able to make it!
  22. Heh, I'm in a similar situation. I've been so used to role-playing with a specific group of people that I've gotten a tad rusty where random interaction is concerned. I'm still trying to find my 'niche' in the community, though I suspect that's the case for a fair few people. I've just been forcing - and rewarding - myself for stepping out of my comfort zone. ^ Yeah, this is my thing. I've been able to make friends with a great LS so far but I've been struggling with getting myself going in terms of RP. I'm crazy shy IRL and it's hard not letting that come through in-game. ._.
  23. It took me about 20 minutes or so this morning (around 8:30-9am CST) before I was able to hop on. Seriously, if you haven't picked up that autohotkey thing just yet... It's a big help. Set it and go do something else for a while. With luck, by the time you get back, you'll be in game. A fellow forum user has even put up a script for us. Check it out. It probably really isn't helping with the server problems but it'll help you get in.
  24. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/78421-NA-All-Worlds-Maintenance-%28Sep.-3%29 http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/0edd08e8117972bca5bb6abbb07c1574f8a6f73a It's not just Japanese servers. They will be addressing the issues across all servers. How successful they will be is still up in the air but they are working on it.
  25. It breaks my heart but it is certainly well deserved. I grew up with Totoro in particular and it will always hold an extra special place in my heart. Easily one of the greatest living storytellers we have and I feel blessed to be in the same world as him.
