  1. God that was such a fantastic game, an amazing world, and a freakin' sweet intro movie. I'm still waiting for them to reboot it (and hopefully not into total crap lol) Back to the question... I'm primarily a forum RPer and run my own board, so when I'm writing there I'm already in that headspace, and it makes an easy transition to in-game when I log on. Otherwise, the motivation to log into the game usually has the desire to RP attached to it. I've always done a tiny bit of RP/headcanon stuff in any game so it just comes natural.
  2. Unfortunately I'm US based so by the time I get home from work you'd likely already be asleep lol However I'm usually on on the weekends at least once or twice, and Doendraga is all sorts of "non-legit" as well as a smuggler. The difference between the two of her being a sky pirate and him a smuggler of the open seas would be an interesting one. Perhaps they've worked together before? There is only so much cargo an airship can hold without being grounded so a smuggling ship might be needed to set up caches of supplies for her and her crew, or move things across the waters when going by airship was too dangerous. Likewise, Doendraga may have needed to get his hands on something flying about in the skies on an airship of its own, or hidden on those floating islands up north. Anyway, if you catch me online say hello and we can chat some if you're interested
  3. My main, Doendraga, doesn't but mostly because I don't have one that would work with him lol My alt, Nunuzaru, however does: it's an ahriman that he's bound with a curse into a harmless, smaller form which can grow to become his mount. I always have it out floating whenever I play as him, and the two share a whole dynamic and everything
  4. This always be a thing because people RP for different reasons. A lot of us roleplay as a form of story telling, and so while our characters are complex, as is our internal muse and love for said characters, ultimately the STORY is of more value and importance. We can have our characters fail, or screw up, or even have not-so-virtuous moments and it isn't personal. For the other kind of RPers, though, everything about their character is personal. They RP to experience a fictional life as a fantasized version of themselves, and so anything that violates that fantasy doesn't sit well with them, and there is no greater example of busting someone's fantasized self-bubble like expecting or asking them to act "human" or flawed...or, you know, having consequences to their character's actions. These are the kind of RPers who make Mary Sues and Gary Stus.
  5. The quickest way to a Roe's heart is a big of plate of food! Doendraga is the captain of a ship and totally-not-a-smuggler whose totally-not-illegal business dealings thrive on contacts from the mundane to the clandestine. He bounces around a lot, but the people who should recognize his face do, and there's no reason Dhemitar can't be one So does he have a stall or something that maybe Doendraga frequents? Maybe Doendraga is a faithful customer that pays well for the rare catches that Dhemitar holds for him, and from time to time Dhemitar shares with him the rumors he's heard from peddlers, Yellow Jackets, and other sailors?
  6. I had a sex dream about RPC. Not the people, the actual website. It was hot
  7. I'm totally with Hammersmith on this one: I don't like the over use of spells and can't help but eyeroll when I see someone who RPs using magic for everything (as if we need to be constantly be reminded you can conjure fire). My taste in fantasy has, over time, changed to lean more toward low-fantasy when it comes to the prevalence of sorcery and magic weapons. Granted, Final Fantasy is a high fantasy game in that the world is not based on the real world at all, and magic is more common place as a tool, but I never considered it to be something "easy" nor did I ever get that feeling from the setting of any previous installments (disregarding of course that it's a video game first and foremost, not a novel with deep world-building) so that's not how I write the supernatural in FF14. I don't just believe magic should have limitations, I believe it should be a test of discipline. Some RPs write magic like people can just pick up conjury and thaumaturgy or arcanima after a couple hours or days. I'm more of a "takes years of intense practice and study to acchieve even the the simplest stuff" kinda guy myself. I'm also not big on the "everyone has a magic item for everything" approach: I understand and like the idea of magic serving as a power source in an industrial sense (i.e. magicite/materia in multiple installments), and I really enjoy the idea of ceruleum and how its refined in FF14's setting, but not a fan of "Little Suzianion has a magic locket that can teleport her anywhere that she's had since she was three because her grandparents bought it for her on her birthday." That's just my opinion though. Different strokes for different folks.
  8. Yeah, don't let his burly frame fool you: Berrod's a lightweight. Doendraga saw it first-hand
  9. Like any sailor worth the salt in his hair, Doendraga is hella superstitious: having a witch for him to consult portents, a diviner, is a must. Doendraga himself is an irreverent, slightly hedonistic ship captain, and a smuggler upstanding citizen who doesn't do anything shady or illegal at all  As for myself, I prefer plot-focused RP or at the very least interactions that have some kind of motivation or action (not necessarily combat-action, mind you, but purpose) rather than just sitting in a tavern somewhere or wandering into each other Count Doendraga as one of Pyha's regulars! I'm in MST zone so hopefully we're in compatible timezones. If you catch me online send me a friend request and I'll do the same if you're interested (wiki's in the signature)
  10. Doendraga is an affectionate, gregarious drunk. He starts handing out pet names to everyone around him and any protestations only encourage their use
  11. Awwwwwwwww sheeeeiiiiiiiiit O2CwOvNFkVQ
  12. I think it'd be far more productive, yeah. Maybe someone should just start another thread?
