VENUS FLYTRAP WANTS YOU! We are a casual group lightly focused on endgame content in Final Fantasy XIV, currently situated on the Crystal data center. We are currently looking for members to fill the following roles — - Melee Physical DPS - Ranged Physical DPS - Ranged Magick DPS Because this is a casual group, we also encourage any interested to present alternate roles they’re keeping geared, be they Tank, Healer, or Damage-dealer. Flexibility is key for progress and fun — we’re willing to shake things up to make sure the members of our static are having fun, but we will hold fast to designated roles during pressing content. Currently, we are scheduled for one day per week — Thursday, at 8:00pm EDT/EST. Understandably, this is far less of a commitment than many statics aim for. Because of this, we encourage static members seeking more content to feel free to hit up Party Finder groups after our designated static time, regardless of loot-lockouts. Our sole raiding evening is meant to provide flexibility for people with many commitments — we don’t want it to be a barrier to anyone’s fun! The rules of our static are few and far between: Hate speech of any kind is not tolerated. We are an LGBTQ+ friendly group, and strive to be inclusive. This extends to how we represent ourselves in FFXIV and beyond. Fun comes first — we have one night together, and if we’re not having fun, we’re not doing it right. Levity is welcome. Laughter is welcome. And… Progress is our goal — even though we’re a distinctly casual group, we are working to clear hard content. This will mean coming to the fight with a clear head and readiness to work. We just so happen to be doing it with people who know how to have a good time We’re here to fight, not to be right. Though few in numbers, the Ardent Lotus Clan has mettle and spirit—the sort forged from a combined desire of its hunters to make this Star an onze safer. They do not operate in the open. Yet far too small to stand among the titans of the realm’s other clans and free companies, they nevertheless toil away where they’re able. Come in, put up your weapon, and have a seat. Enjoy the fruits and libations of lands east and west. Stick around long enough, and you might just put down roots... « THE USUAL SUSPECTS... » Who might you see in the tavern? Frequent visitors, fresh patrons, or veteran hunters...all in this place have come from different places. Grand company members who tire of the rigour and formality of their rank occasionally seek drinks and...variable company. Clan hunters who call this place home...or near-to home as they might have. Rangers of the realm who make their profit as trackers, monster slayers, and mercenaries for hire! Merchants, and other folk whose lives revolve around the coin, come to this place in search of fresh deals and new connections. Of late, an odd number of machinists and magitek scholars have passed through the doors. An uptick in business? Newly profitable ventures? Curious… Historians and researchers from across the realm--those who have no wish to spend their coin beneath the thumbs of a grand company--often enjoy the freedom of a freelancer’s tavern. Tradesmen, looking for fresh buyers to whom they might peddle their wares. Skilled entrepreneurs have struck many deals under this roof. Patrons of no particular affiliation are found in plenty--those myriad souls who find themselves in the right place, at the right time (or the right place, at the worst time.) Motivation need not serve profession or greater purpose, after all, and the tavern’s doors are open to any that aren’t looking to make trouble... « WHAT DOES THE LOTUS CLAN DO? » The Lotus Clan is a small group that congregates in the cellar of the House of the Hidden Pearl Inn & Tavern. This tavern—nestled along the shore of the Mists—serves as a reprieve from the ails of the realm. It’s frequented by all manner of adventurers, mercenaries, scholars, and even a few rare Grand Company members. Seated at the bar, they’re united by a search for fruitful work and unique opportunities. Camaraderie through arms, or at least a desire for a plump coinpurse. From this gathering point, they organize hunts, leves, or missions for Voidsent, Primals, and other problematic creatures (or people) that may threaten the safety of those they deem to care about—or for a large sum of gil. Or both! There are many types of characters within the clan and each has its own motives for being part of the group. What will yours be? « WHAT DOES OUR FREE COMPANY OFFER? » Again, we’re a group of characters that are either friends, acquaintances, or new patrons of the House of the Hidden Pearl Inn & Tavern (FC House - Mist, Ward 6, Plot 30). There is an IC Linkshell/Clan (Ardent Lotus) that characters can join after RPing for a while if they are interested in participating in more exclusive/leves and FC events. However, joining the Lotus Clan is not mandatory for FC membership, and is certainly not expected of all members right from the get-go. We aim to have natural progression rather than “forced” membership. As for FC-wide events, officers of the FC host two adventure/mission type of events on a monthly basis. These are planned ahead of time and put on our guild calendar. Members are welcome and encouraged to set up and run their own events in between, as well! These can be leve/mission types or events for personal character development plots. We want everyone in our group to get the type of RP they want, and give them avenues to make it happen. Also, during Discord RP events, we feature a very basic trait/dice-roll system that is akin to D&D style games. This allows for some unexpected twist and turns, as well as for certain characters to tailor their dice-rolls with nods to their innate talents. (Please contact an officer for a copy of our current Character Trait/Limit Break system if you want more details!) Our FC also features two monthly tavern social events. One is advertised on the Crystal RP Calendar bot and the other is not--for our folks that prefer a smaller crowd. However, both are always open to friends/acquaintances of the FC, regardless of membership! This is also the opportunity for more entertainment-oriented characters to have their limelight on our in-house stage! For more information about our tavern event, check this tumblr post. Note: The only characters that would not be welcome within the tavern over long periods of time would be True Evil types that obviously prey on other patrons or adventurers through any matter of schemes or cruelty. You are, of course, allowed to RP a character with us not matter who they are and what they do, so long as you are prepared for the IC consequences of your character’s actions–including combat by other players and/or permanent banning from the premises ICly. On an OOC level, we also offer: Full fleets of Airships & Submarines A medium house with company chest/armoire access 24/7 double Actions for EXP/other member bonuses « ABOUT THE PLAYERS » We’re a chill group of gamers ranging from ages ~22 to 45 that play FFXIV in our spare time. We enjoy chatting in our Discord server, RPing, PvE in FFXIV, other games, and just being friends with one another. Most of us have day jobs and some have children, so we, as a whole group, are not and cannot be online 24/7. Our most active hours are from 4:00pm EST/EDT until maybe 1-2:00am EST/EDT. We have folks from across all of the USA, a few from Canada and even fewer from the UK. A decent chunk of us also enjoy endgame raiding, and have dedicated statics. Ardent Lotus «Pearl» is a Balmung only Free Company. We do not accept members from other servers at this time unless your main RP character has a home on Balmung. This isn't written in stone forever, but for now it is the case. As such, we do not offer a Cross-World Linkshell and we do not allow anyone who isn't a member or a former member of the FC in the Discord server on a permanent basis. As of now we have roughly 15 active members and are looking to expand to around 20-25 active folks maximum. We are likely considered a small RP/casual PvE guild. Our founding date is October 30, 2013, so we've been around as a group for quite a while! Though we may not be as new, we are still quite welcoming and open to new members. Interested? Great! As the leader of a very old RP FC, I can tell you that the game is not what it used to be in terms of rp. This isn’t to say that no one rps anymore or that people aren’t interested, but people seem to be a lot more casual and laid back about it. Those who want or need a daily rp fix usually find themselves at the Quicksand and/or have partners that they can schedule regular rp with. For my members, I do have scheduled times set aside for social and more adventure-type shenanigans, but it is up to them to take advantage of it. At this point in the life of the game, I don’t think it’s really fair to expect an FC to provide a constant stream of rp—especially if the majority of its member population is not focused on it 100% of the time. Now, I can only speak to my experience in my own guild, so take this as you will. I can tell you without a doubt that my RP FC is active, even if rp doesn’t occur every day, and I’m sure there are several more FCs out there in a similar way as mine. I would guess that a lot of it does happen in FC houses, as the previous person mentioned, but I have also seen it out in the over world several times too! It just takes a little more hunting than it used to is all. I wish you luck on your search!
