  1. I'm wanting to transplant the Autumn Maple Tree and Autumn Ginkgo Tree. I can only assume this requires: 1) Someone with botanical knowledge 2) Someone with Aetherical skill/knowledge (As the trees are said to be transplanted at the time their leaves turn and are then casted with a spell to keep them in that state in perpetuity.) Methods of finding this info: -> Walk up (Tell welcome) -> There would currently be a flyer in the Adventurer's guilds seeking one, along with a monetary reward for the assistance.
  2. as an aside, for any backstory, I would -love- to do some Forum-RP as well, if there is an interest in that! Creating backstories in such a way is much more dynamic for me, even if we know our goals =D
  3. First I will be keeping this profile updated! https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Ripeikh%27a_Darastrix My goal is to create a character that has a strong mentor. My preference would be towards having a very Lore-abiding character, so I would like someone who is ICly capable of training the character. Ideally I would like for his early life to take him to learning in how to be a Dragoon, but I am not sure if this is workable. If there are any Ishgardians or Nobles that would take in a stray that seemed adept with a spear, I would definitely welcome creating this connection in their life. Other alternatives are serving under other people around the three major city-states. Ul'dah is least-preferred. Basically right now the character is 'Very open' towards having this backstory shaped, and if you have a need to have a slot filled by a strong Keeper/Seeker Hybrid who will stick with mostly Axes and Spears, I would love for you to leave a message here! Any questions can be done in PM!
  4. Heyo! So! A major issue I've realised is that, while I -love love love- my character, I have a lot of weaknesses in how I wrote him. Particularly, there are a lot of things that I have to ask 'Why' about, and the fact that I am not readily prepared with an answer - means that I created a dead-end of an RP path within my own character. Thus! I was hoping to see if the kind people on the forums would be willing to Brainstorm some concepts, and help as a sort of reflecting board with me. So, the three things that I want to tackle (Not necessarily in order! Heh.) Reason for medical condition One of the biggest things with the character that I've used to balance his proficiency in CQC is the lack of Ranged attacks, compounded with the lack of extensive Aether-usage. That is to say, Caex will never be the type to use Fireballs, Ice Blasts, etc etc. However, for minor surges of Aether, he is quite talented in integrating a few styles into his repetoir - with heavy repercussions. The big thing I do whenever I overuse Aether in IC fights, is that I RP a heart condition. Basically it only comes up during the use of Combat where he uses Aether too heavily. This can be from anything from gathering Aether in the legs and mimicking dragoon jumps (much smaller scale, closer to a DRK's plunge than a real jump), to using Aether-Chains (Fandom! HOLMGANGU.) However, the 'Reason' for it is what is the most iffy. Why does it place a strain, on his heart, specifically? What sort of reasons are there that could define this? For this, I started to pull a bit from the Conjurer's storyline. The use taps into himself, as opposed to drawing latent Aether from the surrounding area. Thus, you are tapping your own life's blood in a way every time you use it. Thus, the symptoms are very similar to Cardiac Arrest. But what reason could I have that he is unable to access the surrounding Aether properly?... Reason for Aether Draw This was born of an RP with a friend. They added some Flavor text of the character having a particular 'pull' during their healing - that is to say, they attempted to 'take' more than was being 'offered' by the other character. One of the concepts that they suggested, was a 'strong will to live', but I never found this to be a satisfactory reason. While it was just flavor text, it was really something I wanted to explore further within the character's narrative. I thought to take that versatility, and started to draw concepts. The result I got, was a concept that I took to - but I am in need of help to see if we can make it as clear and concise and 'Lore Abiding' as possible. Reason for Versatility Namely, the concept that I wanted to use was that he has four 'implants' - one for each leg, one for each arm, and a final one at his heart. The four on the outside, I thought to make similar to SoulStones. It would explain the mixing of styles he frequently use, and the method in which he uses them takes precedence over his ability to draw in Aether. Basically, by having something that is drawing in Aether from his surroundings constantly and infusing himself, he has his vaunted strength and resilience - but the penalty being back to that 'heart condition' as mentioned earlier. The fifth implant being where it is funneled to, right over the heart. Maybe a custom soul stone, or maybe something that is meant to /become/ a soul stone (after all, we know they can be manufactured, but there's never really a method given. One that takes the life of the user is an interesting concept.) These are concepts I have been pooling together with time, but I have never had a session where I got to sit down with someone and try to bring them all together, tweak and work them. I would love if someone would be able to give assistance to me in this task - it would REALLY help. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! Feel free to call me a shitter if you feel like things don't make sense! D:
  5. It is a lie because he also threw Tilekenetic super-blasts! >
  6. trying to find someone IC for this so I can go along and fight as well! but its' pretty rough!
  7. hey guys, just a quick update: I've decided to discontinue this event going forward. It's a bit too much for me to handle independently and since I can't (garuntee) that I can upkeep it, I need to cancel it. My apologies if anyone was looking forward to it tonight.
  8. Percival came out on top from Today's tournament! Was a great match all around to everyone, and we got our first pure-mage character I think (Which was awesome to see.)
  9. I'm sure everyone gets that feeling sometimes. I've kinda hit it too at the moment. Where they feel like they've let their character go stagnant. Maybe you've started to doubt your own ability, maybe you just don't feel your character's involved enough. Maybe you just don't like the way they turned out, in the end. So what do you do when you hit this point? What's the best option, really? Retconning is unfair to others. Killing off the character is a viable option, and will enable you to fantasia/name change to something new. Searching and finding it difficult to find anything involving to get into is one of the worst feelings; where you particularly don't feel very good about any of the potential prospects. You odn't feel like you can interact with others. You start to feel like your character just doesn't have any way of interacting. So I suppose I should ask, what do you guys do when you get to this point? Anyone with advice would be more than welcomed.
  10. This is a bump to say that we're running again today, starting in 40 minutes. Got the PF up a little late to let people know but it is still going
  11. Bumping this for visibility and because I forgot to write hte announcement! we'll be doing another round on Saturday, April 30th at the Lifemend Stump at 3:00 PM EST. We still need to get some Healers, and I would really -love- to get some people who would like to GM the fights with me.
  12. thank you for the fun night tonight, Host Club!
  13. We had a great, full tournament, with tons of awesome fighters! WE realised 5 HP is too much, so we're keeping the "Tie" rule, but lowering back down to 3! (We did this mid-tourney, in the interest of time!) Congratulations to this weeks winner, Artoria! Hope to see everyone next week!
  14. (Hello! I contacted you in game as well, but I wanted to let you know I will definitely try to make it to this - but I might be a little bit late due to needing to get back from a family meeting.) Name: Ver'Svesh Preah Type of date desired: Both are fine, whatever comes of the IC. Gender preference: Both are fine. ^^ Brief description of your character: A mute girl, living out of Thanalan by the land. Simply and plain as they come, but with a positive outlook and a warm smile. She's a small bit of shy, mixed with a lot of respect for the social structures of Ul'dah - she will not raise to meet eyes with a noble, due to an instilled nature as a peasant, but will show them all the respect they request. She is calm, never acting over the top or out of order, but is strangely out of place. She is a firm believer of sharing - and thus, if she sees someone without, or someone who is wanting, readily will give what she does have to make them even. Chatting may be a slight challenge, but communication is not impossible. Patience, Charades of body language, and effort will create a happy atmosphere. Daily Clothes: Clothes loaned for the Day:
  15. Would still welcome any ties if anyone is looking for any ^^/
  16. It wouldn't of been long. After another night at the Fated Inn, she once more had decided to return here. To the little camp site, with all the tents erected - to the little camp site, with that well-used fire and nearby stream for water. It was a good area, safe... just outside the gates of Ul'dah. This was home. There's a few people that come up - particularly, the younger ones, accompanied by a single adult. Beaming with smiles on their faces, there is a look of hope in their eyes as they look at the container. One of them missed a front buck tooth, likely from lack of care for their personal hygiene. Stained yellow teeth and dirt-ruffled hair did not, however, deter from the feeling of overwhelming and pure joy. Ver simply reaches out. She places a hand softly on their head, ruffling their hair slightly. The boy quips quickly, "Did you get food again?" with an audible sound. Loud and enthusiastic. The parentage nearby gives a wry smile of concern as even she glances to the container. While she was more well-kept than her children, she was indeed still just as dirt-stained as the young woman was. Smiling, Ver lowers herself down to her knees. Sitting back and letting her legs spread out, she rests the container on her lap. She makes a motion, drawing lines on top of the container so that there were even portions all around. She silently holds it up, offering it to the young boy. "Make sure to evenly split it, got it!" He'd exclaim happily, taking the container. He quickly runs back to the camp, to start divvying up the food. It was a feast, after all. Best to make sure eveyone got fed as soon as possible. And yet, in that moment, the mother seemed to walk a bit closer. Kneeling down, she rests a hand on Ver's shoulder. There's a moment of quiet and warmth as they watch the kids running off and playing as they prepared to split it up. Ver reaches out, taking the hand of the woman in her own, and pulling it to her lap. There is no resistance offered. Instead, it is an accepted method - of sharing information, since sign language was not wide-spread in their camp. There was a few people who knew it - like the gentlemen from the Moogle inn, and his wife knew it now, too. That was good. But around here - Sign language was not vital. And so, Ver had this method, for those she trusted or cared for. She lightly traces a finger within the palm of the woman, creating a silent dialogue. "Another offer to stay the night at a room." The woman would softly speak the words, to give an audible nature to the very words she could not speak. Soon after, she smiles, "But you refused to bring the food back, hmn?" The woman looks concerned, for a moment, "Eventually, we are going to lose little Ver'svesh to the large companies. A talent with Aether will not be bound to a life of Poverty." She'd hum out. Ver'svesh looked back to her, making a bit of a face. The woman glanced to her as once more fingers traced in palm, "Not leaving?" She'd make a bit of a worried face, before reaching up and ruffling at hair. "We can not leave - you are right." She'd hum out softly. "Some would be left behind if we took such offers. Some would be left alone. And many would pass away. To stick together is to live." With a standing gesture, she walked away. Ver'svesh sat there with silence for a moment, letting the white optics gaze upon the back of the woman and the distant camp. At the least, tonight, they would go to bed with full stomaches - this was good for them, and their families.
  17. So is this going to be every week? That's the honest goal and to make it fun for everyone, but I am struggling to be able to set my own time on saturday due to some RL issues coming up (As we saw with last week.) I'm hesitant to update with a weekly update due to that. But I will try. Trust me I know how IRL can totally override your plans for stuff. More I'm just trying to get it worked out on the calendar. If weekly doesn't suit you then try just one day a month. Like "every third saturday" or something. If that not possible then don't sweat it. I simply had it on the calendar as a single event, but if you're going to do it again that's awesome. Just post/update with the latest time/date/location. Remember this is the information your attendees need as well so the sooner you can get that info posted the more can arrange to show up. If possible try to give at least one week advance notice. Understood! I appreciate both the guidance and advice.
  18. So is this going to be every week? That's the honest goal and to make it fun for everyone, but I am struggling to be able to set my own time on saturday due to some RL issues coming up (As we saw with last week.) I'm hesitant to update with a weekly update due to that. But I will try.
  19. Won't be able to hold this today due to some personal issues, my appologies. There will, however, be another tournament showing on the next week, with the following updated rules: + HP Will be raised to 5 + "Draws" will be 1 damage to each player, with each player posting continuing in the order from the last attack (For example, say you recieved the last attack, you would get to post for this one first.) Will update the OP when I am able! Sorry again for the trouble!
  20. we had a fun set of matches today, and would definitely like to do it again if there's any interest in it. One of the mentions of need for improvement I got was that the fights might feel a little slow - namely, because of the fact that you have a tertiriary person involved, and that requires the micromanaging. I'm not sure how to address this, so I would welcome any thoughts and opinions to be offered up to it. There was another suggestion, in the occurance of Multiple draws, to have an occurance where both opponents take damage and can post 'attacking eachother.' I think this is a good idea, and hope we can integrate it soon. ====================== For any curious what our fights looked like; I've transcribed them. HUGE thanks to everyone that participated today, and congratulations to Kalm Yugure who took home the match!
  21. Today's the day! I'll be doing a PF about 2 hours before to help spread the word a little more. Hopefully we can get a decent showing for this. If anyone's got any questions or concerns still, please forward them my way as I'll be in game up until the time it starts.
  22. MY ONLY REGRET IS THAT I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL APRIL 27TH FOR THIS. I NEED IT IN MY LIFE.
  23. Currently, we have two fight masters. I've recieved messages from about two people showing interest, and would definitely love to hear more input, if people will be attending, and likewise what they think overall of the concept. Thanks!
  24. There's been a few ideas spitballed, such as having 3 versions of attacks / 3 versions of defense and alternating which one you get (And doing attack/defense a la grindstone) - but again, complexity. The original idea was going to be following a system of 1/1/2, where Attack/Fast Attack both dealt 1 damage and Heavy dealt 2, but we realised that lakced balanced. The idea of it might work if we are able to create a system that alternates turns and punishes someone trying to spam the heaviest-damaging attack (Thus creating an actual risk: reward scenario.) At the same time, it needs to be kept simple enough to be accessible to everyone. This is why the Grindstone's and Mystic Runestone's systems really are ideal in many ways. No matter who you are, it's easy to understand that "I win because my numbers are bigger than yours." Thanks for the clarification. Sorry, I went overgeneral with it, and appreciate the correction. I'll update the original post. <3 Just an fyi for the future, folks like specifics with location so here ya go: Lifemend Stump, Central Shroud (x27, y15) Officially updated the OP with the notes, and gave credit to the both of you. Thanks for helping out o/
  25. Thanks for the clarification. Sorry, I went overgeneral with it, and appreciate the correction. I'll update the original post. <3 I hope we can catch you next time I don't plan to have this be a one-time event; I'd love to give people a fun way to do alternative methods to Dice, even if it's something silly like Rock-Paper-Scissors. Lol. I know it's silly. x3 Though I looked up Chessboxing. That seems... Almost magical.
