^^ I still have a few of Aysun I know i need to finish...>.> I actually ended up starting a head shot of her today too... <.< I have more fun with traditional. I used to do commissions where i would do the black and white line art and post it on line. and then i would traditionally color the piece and send it to the commissioner. That way i felt it was fair as they had a tangible piece of art....or if i did it digitally i would still send them the rough sketch. You spoil me o_o;;; And that's awesome. I know there are still a few artists out there that do that as well! ..Postage, however.. augh, probably a pain. The digital world takes over.. You seem to have a nice scanner, so don't give up on finishing things traditional completely!

I love your sketches, almost more than the finished products sometimes! I think I'm just more partial to traditional media, that's why. But those are all amazing! I hope I get to watch tomorrow!~

Considering things like potions, ethers, antidotes, etc, exist, I think there is most definitely medicine in Eorzea other than white magic. The Phrontistery (Alchemists' Guild) has many rooms with beds where people are treated with alchemical medicines, rather than magical means. It's likely a 'if one doesn't work try the other' situation or it could be determined by whether the person has access to a magical healer, money for treatment, etc. There are definitely things that magic and medicine cannot heal in Eorzea as well, as evident by a small group of NPCs outside the conjurers' guild discussing the passing of a child that couldn't be saved by them. There's mentions of a plague that decimated the Hyur population as well (a cure has been found). Even with magic and medicine, Eorzeans are still quite mortal! I'm sorry I can't provide you with more specifics without the game being up! x_x

The art of Distraction: Keeping yourself busy till phase 4
Aysun replied to Felix Sideris's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Hubby-time, cats-time, RP on Skype, Civilization V, work. -twiddles thumbs- -
Welcome. Basically, the people from 1.0 who were at the Battle of Cartenau were sent forward in time five years. Those who survived the Calamity elsewhere were left behind to pick up the pieces and rebuild Eorzea. The events of the Calamity seem confined to that region, so the planet didn't get blown up, don't worry. A linkpearl is an actual item in XIV that is used to communicate over long distances. It is a small thing that you basically could put on an earring. You can hear others and speak to them via it. A linkshell is the group of people who are connected by linkpearls. A Free Company, which is new in ARR, is the equivalent of what most people call a guild. Not to be confused with a Grand Company (the Maelstrom, the Twin Adders, or the Immortal Flames), or the many guilds in the cities (Carpenters' Guild, Adventurers' Guild, etc). You'll find a wealth of information in these threads as well as the wiki (see link above!), but feel free to ask any questions!

I kinda like the lore to be something you learn about through doing things in game myself. ^^ It seems full of holes, but it keeps us hunting! Of course, I'm used to 1.0. It was much worse then haha.

You livestream?! I want to watch!

Welcome! Your resume is impressive and intimidating! My grammar is bad, don't hurt me.

I can only direct you to the lore of the Twelve and the timeline on the wiki. >> Probably something we may be able to learn more about in game eventually.

Dominance Challenges: Seeker Cultural Conflict Explored
Aysun replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in RP Discussion
FreelanceWizard I think a lot of people are playing them like humans because they want to play humans with kitty features. Lore is immaterial at that point. I can respond to both ya in one go!~ Basically, in game there is all of one tribe of traditional Seeker NPCs (who live in a well developed camp, with plenty of Eorzean technology and influence.. coatees, even!), while there is a plethora of Seekers living non-tribal lilfestyles in Limsa Lominsa and the surrounding areas, as well as scattered elsewhere as fishers, whores, dancers, Maelstrom ranks, Yellow Jackets, and of course, adventurers. I won't speculate on their reasons for leaving their tribal cultures behind, but obviously they must have? At least some of them have. There was even a Miqo'te in 1.0 that mentioned having a husband. Basically what I'm trying to say is just because a Miqo'te player chooses not to play a traditional tribal Miqo'te does not mean that they are just playing a Hyur with cat ears. In trying to dispel the stereotype with these posts by showing the potential rich culture of the Seekers, you are in fact making it worse for some of us due to the discussion that sometimes follows leading to quotes like the above. As FreelanceWizard eluded to, there is plenty of in game evidence that a majority of Seekers do not practice the reclusive tribal ways, so it completely reasonable that a majority of Seeker-players would not want to have their character involved with it either. Go with either. Do what you want to, honestly. If you want a tribal Miqo'te, great, run with it, the lore supports it. But the lore also supports the non-tribal Miqo'te. The tribal lore is not the saving grace for dispelling the stereotypes around the Miqo'te race, unfortunately. The only way to overcome that stereotype is to prove yourself to be different through RP and have fun. -
Dominance Challenges: Seeker Cultural Conflict Explored
Aysun replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in RP Discussion
My problem is far from that. Miqo'te are more than humans with kitty ears and a tail, I've always tried to strive for them to be seen as more than that, too. In doing so, I spoke out against the flat, generic neko-girl stereotype that we had in 1.0 (amongst other stereotypes that I won't get into here). In 1.0, we had no information on this tribal stuff what so ever. We had nothing to go by but what we saw in game, and that's what some of us tried to abide by. That's all I'm doing now. Going by in-game lore. I hope that people who are opting not to go the tribal route due to lack of information in 1.0 and/or lack of lore supporting the tribal culture still being as prevalent as people want to believe does not make us those who are seen as perpetuating that stereotype. -
Well then I'm happy that seventeen percent of the votes for Gilga even if from Reddit are roleplayers. Sounds good to me, I'm happy about that honestly. Don't care if a person is from Reddit, 4chan, Tumblr or the goddamned moon made out of green cheese or Santa's Workshop, it could be wherever. You like rp, well here's a pearl and lets go do some rping. Go roleplayers! That's not what I was saying. I was saying that that's why Gilgamesh's population in general is so high on that poll, cuz reddit.

Balmung with 45% RPers. Tasteh. I hope I run into all you people! With polls like this we have to remember the audience too. This was from reddit (which I believe Reddit chose as their server? notice the number of votes for Gilga..), and advertised around. So there's still a lot of missing player votes!

This will forever be my desktop. Has been since like, launch. Fan-made, I can't even remember where I got it.. But much love to whoever did!

Dominance Challenges: Seeker Cultural Conflict Explored
Aysun replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in RP Discussion
While I admire the effort you're putting into these things, I prefer to get my lore in-game rather than extrapolating it through speculation. I'd like to remind people that that's what these posts are, and while interesting and discussion-promoting, that they should be careful not to accept it all as truth. -
I'll be submitting shortly, but I'm relieved that the poll is skewed so far haha.

Oh my.. What beautiful work! Great job!

I believe this was confirmed by SE, yes.

One of the many reasons I can't wait to be back in game RPing!

Markings Aysun has three markings on each cheek that she was born with. In RP, when she was asked about them by a curious friend, she likened them to her friend's freckles. That they were just there, not tattoos. She's fond of them. (I was so relieved when it was confirmed that they weren't tattoos. ) Scars Aysun had the usual wear and tear of a girl who liked to do things she shouldn't before coming to Eorzea, but nothing serious or disfiguring. Her two prominent scars she has now are from RP events in which she didn't seek treatment from the Fane/magical healing. One was from being stabbed in the thigh by a dagger, which has nearly faded by this point. The other, much more serious and one that she makes an effort to cover because it's not exactly pretty, was from a sparring match gone wrong, caused by a lance to her abdomen. Though magical means were initially used to save her life, she healed without it and is thus scarred. Tattoos She doesn't like tattoos much, therefore doesn't have any. She has been marked with the "Legacy" mark, however. She doesn't understand it, and doesn't like it one bit.

Omg. That is awesome. I love her freckles~
