I do all sorts of stuff IC though: adventure, tavern, one-on-one, and even things like raids and battlefield stuff when possible. Strongest Skills: Miqo'te lore, wiki set-up, journaling!, character development over time, making "common" interesting. x3

I voted B because I am retarded and can't read after a day at work. I meant C. Mostly due to the commonness and I'm afraid you might grow annoyed with having that face paint permanent after awhile! I just really like how that Elezen looks..

A note on using K', too: There are some characters already playing with the K' prefix, one from a traditional tribe. You might want to discuss amongst yourselves the potential issues with that! Not that I expect you to choose some random letter that no one else is using, but do keep it in the back of your mind that it could cause some confusion!

I think this is just too much. As a scientist myself, I groan. It's a fantasy setting, with its own rules, and often trying to apply our rules to it makes things even more weird. Easier to just roll with the lore. Plus some of the lore you've cited is incorrect. It is suggested that there IS interbreeding between the clans (as well as the other races) just that it is rare. While I tip my hat at the effort, I just don't think it was necessary.

Another consideration for you all to make will be your characters' appearances. You'll all be closely related, unlike the majority of the Miqo'te we see in game now, so there should be some similarities among you! I vote green hair. Do it! x3 Good luck guys.

I'm still exceptionally paranoid about taking that step and making my commitment to a FC, but damn.. you summed up exactly what I want in one..

Similar to Eva, I've always used the short-format like 16/3U/1553 for Aysun's nameday. I figured the Era was assumed, and when it wasn't it would be in texts in which dates were spelled out formally such as in historical texts ("On the 16th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon, 1553rd Year of the 6th Astral Era".. like you said, loooong!). In speech, during RP we just say stuff like, "Well, on the 16th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon we'll be meeting.." still seems long, but since the Moons don't have 'names' like our months do, there's not much we can do! Same with the days of the week not having names (Monday, Tuesday, etc, don't exist and the "week" seems to be 8 Suns long instead of 7!).

Something like this is such a great idea, just so hard to organize... x_x I am totally in for helping gather info once the game is back up. Pulling things from leves and talking to every NPC in Eorzea is high on my list..

If I'm understanding the post that Ferne made, the 7th Umbral Era was only 5 years long and we are now in the 7th Astral Era. It would be year 1 of the 7th Astral Era.

This isn't about mentoring, its about giving some tips, personal experiences and putting out information for characters that can be easily approached if players happen to come across them in game. Entry point characters is what I mean. Sometimes people don't like strangers approaching them randomly. I'd like this to be a thread for those that don't mind it at all and are always open to being approached icly by someone new. There are also some people who -know- how to rp but may just be shy and vets who are not part of the mentoring program but who are playing approachable characters. But I do thank you for putting that here, its a vital resource that should be used! I still don't get the difference I guess. Everyone I've mentored.. that's exactly what we're doing. And anyone can be a mentor if they're comfortable and want to help people get into the RP in XIV, whatever that entails. We talk about their character development, how RP is in XIV, LS's, personal experiences, etc.. I guess the only difference here is that people specifically don't mind being approached ICly by someone new, but I think all the mentors definitely fit that bill without being said! Either way, it's all good ideas!

Wow, what an emotionally evocative piece. It must have been incredible to hear that everywhere. Just listening to it now gave me a sense of dread, even despair. And now I feel bad for having stopped playing before that. o_O It was intense. o_o I'd also go with the whole those who had the Echo were probably the ones who were hearing it, since we've heard the "Hear, Feel, Think" part already legitimately.
