  1. I think people are missing the coolest thing about Lightning's outfit... IT HAS A CAPE GUYS. CAPES. HELL. YES. MY BODY IS READY. Also, Beta Behemoth seems cool. Wonder how they're gonna explain that one.
  2. I don't see why it would go against lore, they're both Hyur after all. And even if they weren't both Hyur, SE has already confirmed that races can cross breed. We just haven't seen any notable examples within the game's lore/plot line yet.
  3. FFXIV is SE's love letter to the entire series. We're gonna see a lot of cross overs from the other games and we're gonna have to deal with it.
  4. Mtoto with pink hair and a ponytail. You already know! Haha
  5. Well, since no one has called it... Dibs on RPing as Lightning's slutty clone.
  6. Amazing! This is seriously one of my favorite pics of Mtoto. I love it!
  7. To be honest, I remembered that you posted some larger screenshots of your character in the fem Roe thread. So I went and looked at those, actually! --- Aside from the one on his mouth, I'm not sure what I want the rest of Teague's scarring to look like, so I just threw some all over the place to make him look appropriately beaten up. Oh man, he looks like such a bad ass character. Would hate to be on the opposite side of him in a fight. lol
  8. This. Was. Amazing. Don't you change a damn thing. *applauds*
  9. Been thinking about changing Mtoto to a midlander for awhile. I like this look so far.
  10. Hey Nyhra! I work Graveyard shifts at my job through the week so I'm on typically always between 11pm - 6am PST...so 2am - 9am EST. if you'd like, I wouldn't mind helping you out. Also Gerik, V'sato has asked that I be his mentor and I've happily accepted.
  11. Oh god, we're L'Cie. Better save the planet before we turn to zombie Cei'th
  12. In regards to the lore, people who were in 1.0 (legacy or not) and followed the storyline through are referred to as the "Warriors of Light". Characters just starting their journey in 1.0 are considered blessed by Hydaelyn and many NPCs elude to these new heros as the second coming of the warriors of light. The people who got time warped have been turned into something of myths and legend because the Calamity caused much of the realm to forget exactly who the warriors of light were, they just know they existed. I think it can be said that only the people who were at the Battle of Carteneu were warped away, while others blessed with the echo from 1.0 (our character who didn't get warped and some NPCs) stayed and lived out the 5 years. It's insinuated that those who were blessed with the echo and who stayed are able to remember the warriors of light who got teleported, and a major NPC eludes to this in ARR. hope that helped any! Edit: I'm unsure if the tat marks signifies that a character is from the past or not or if that's something exclusive to legacy players. Perhaps we can get someone who is in beta from 1.0 who wasn't legacy to confirm this tho.
  13. *sigh* Seems like every day, there's a new dilemma on the RPC. I can't speak for anyone else, but I find it disheartening to see such trivial issues get so out of hand and out of context to the point where the subject matter at hand is just flopping back and forth. I'll speak my mind and leave it at that since I'd rather not get too involved in this thread. First thing's first since the topic has...shifted. I don't think that we should necessary "prohibit" (which is the impression I'm getting from this) people from using the linkshell hall to discuss things privy to the linkshells. People who are interested, wish to support a linkshell through kind words, or offer suggestions on the linkshell page, should be able to. Likewise, the linkshell page serves as a easy way for open communication between its linkshell members and the rest of the community on the RPC. Telling us we shouldn't do that would only serve to cause players to migrate back to their own individual sites and do communication there. If the RPC is suppose to be a central hub for roleplayers, allow it to use the tools to do so, rather than make things even more complicated than need be. Creating a entirely separate thread simply for discussion seems silly and unnecessary and would really just clutter up the forums even more. I was under the impression the revisions to the forums were done to streamline things and make things much more presentable. Further, this isn't a competition or a popularity contest, and as much as my knowledge goes, I don't think anyone who has posted in the linkshell hall pages have tried to insinuate such behavior. Rather, the things people are posting on those pages have been largely supportive and good-natured. This is what the RPC should be breeding and striving to maintain, instead we have threads cropping up which serve only to cause infighting and needless conflict. Linkshell leaders and mods of the RPC, if you don't want linkshell hall related threads that show up on the main forum's recent topics list anytime they are posted in, perhaps you should consider making a completely separate forum for the linkshell hall which is independent of the main forum and have it be organized in alphabetical order. This can be done on Guildwork and Enjin, so I don't think its beyond the realm of possibility to have it function in the same manner here. Lastly, it's of my own personal opinion that many of the recent attempts to "quell" and "expunge" a seemingly unfriendly and divided atmosphere are actually doing the opposite, further propagating and elevating the undue stress, drama, and conflict amongst ourselves. Unnecessary polls to decide the direction of the community, telling us to limit public link shell interactions on a public forum, and having linkshell leader meetings (which were made to discuss cross LS RP and events mind you) are slowly taking on this undertone of a council established to decide the future of the community based on what the heads of a few groups feel. I know I'm not alone when I speak on these concerns. I know everyone is trying to speak on things with good intent and what they believe is the best for the community, but please, let's stop trying to govern the community at large. The RPC doesn't need a governing body, only basic moderation. The RPC should only ever serve as an open place for the public to speak on RP happenings and promote cross-character interactions. If a "couple" people take offense that a few groups are trying to be open and active, perhaps they should take a step back and see what the real issue at hand is. If they feel like they're in "competition" against other link shells, they are looking at the community with the wrong mindset to begin with. We shouldn't feel like we're competing against one another, after all, we're working together in cooperation because we are a community. Otherwise, we're nothing but a handful island nations in a vast sea called separation. Linkshells who feel like they're being drowned should work to be more open, more willing to speak to new players outside of welcome threads, and work to interact publicly in hopes to further facilitate open ended communications. Based on the original purpose of this thread alone, I feel as if the people who are trying to be open and supportive are being punished because others are choosing to be less open. Again, I can only speak for myself and myself alone, but I feel there are those who are with me when I say that the trivial and petty conflicts which are cropping up on this site are only serving to push people away from the RPC.
  14. I honestly don't think RMT will be that a big of a deal in XIV as much as it is in other MMOs in the past. There already are several systems in place which deter gil farmers and RMT a bit. Gil for the most part is easy to come by. There's a myriad of ways an individual can make money in XIV quite easily, from leves, quests, FATES, guildhests, dungeons, etc, and this has been evidenced in 1.0 as well as what we're seeing currently in ARR Beta. Most of the better gear isn't obtained through use of gil, but through the dungeons themselves and through Grand Company seals, and these pieces are generally Unique and Untradable once they drop to an individual's loot list, making them useless in terms of generating income and limiting the effects of it crashing the market. Gathering has been streamlined and simplified, as has craftng. It's now much much easier to gather EXACTLY what you want as you need only select it from the gathering menu after finding a node. It's also much much easier for us to craft items and gear. Couple both these facts with the ludicrously CHEAP prices NPCs sell gear and supplies for, I doubt we're going to see the Markets take a huge hit from RMT who bot and farm. Sure, a RMT can likely still bot and farm for shards while harvesting, but that's the only way one can get shards outside of quest rewards and killing elementals now, and guess what? We can get shards/items too without having to compete with RMT as nodes aren't shared anymore and everyone has their own individual reset timers, meaning that RMTs can't hog gathering points and monopolize its resources like before. The Market is likely going to shift primarily towards selling gear that has materia equipped on it and HQ mats rather than focusing on generic gear or normal quality items which are easily accessible elsewhere. I'm of the personal opinion of just letting SE's RMT taskforce investigate RMT reports as we report them. While they weren't very diligent in the past (let's face it, the game sucked in 1.0 and RMT likely weren't really profiting much nor was the economy in game hurt in a manner that a normal players couldn't affect otherwise), they've gone on the record to say that they will be increasing their efforts against RMT this time around. RMT who /shout, /yell, /tell are likely going to get a swift ban since we can screenshot these and send them to the GMs. The same goes for in-game mail. What it all boils down to is that we all do our part as players to ensure that RMT is reported when we see it. That's really the best way to combat RMT, imo. The GMs can't be everywhere at once but its their job to respond to reports of RMT. Let's hope that SE has a more streamlined reporting system this time around.
  15. Odin can keep his stupid horse. I want battle ready war stags...with Magitek cannons on their heads. Actually, give me Ixion and I'll be happy too.
  16. I think I can speak for both me and Myllor when I say that I think voice chat RP is...weird. lol. I definitely couldn't RP by voice, being a male playing a female and all, lol. I think what Myllor was getting at was more along the lines of text based RP in a chat room to mimic the real time response you'd typically find in-game.
  17. Dunesfolk are actually said to be more scholastic of the two and are known for placing the pursuit of knowledge over all other things. Yes, many are business savy, but characteristic trait tends to come from Ul'dah more so than their clan. Also, of the two, traditional dunesfolk were primarily nomadic and thus they didnt rely on agriculture as much as their plains folk cousins. Xenedra has the right if things tho, I'm sure no one would think it odd if you had a lalafell who deviates from the norm. Hell, I do that with my Miqo'te! :3
  18. Rhio, I had no idea you were so skilled at this. http://gizoogle.net/xfer.php?link=http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/06/19/final-fantasy-xiv-launches-beta-version-of-the-lodestone/&sa=U&ei=RYPDUdzXOMm1hAfyuICIAQ&ved=0CC4QqQIwBw&usg=AFQjCNE9fkYNv2i2z12pIol_AuuK7LJUxQ
  19. THIS. IS. AWESOME. http://gizoogle.net/xfer.php?link=http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php%3Ftitle%3DMtoto_Wamoto&sa=U&ei=bX7DUdzHBomS7AbpwIDICA&ved=0CBgQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNHdKNpKlzudxJtZJBU_AfB7YrcayA Mtoto talks like this ICly from now on. For those who want to do this: go to gizoogle.net and type in FFXIV RPC wiki followed by your character name. Share your results. Laugh.
  20. I support the idea of having a VoIP as an option for people who'd like to use it. A lot of the time, when I'm in my own private mumble of friends, I either move to a private room or move to a RP channel to be alone and let me focus on the RP at hand. VoIP has never gotten in the way of my RP personally. When I'm not RPing, I like to socialize with people and make new friends. The friends I met on mumble, I've known for nearly 3 years now, and while they aren't the only people I hang out with, I log in because I love socializing with them and would like to with othesr as well. Having the human element is something that helps keep things that happen IC, well, IC. It allows me to detach myself from my character and also break down my social walls so I meet new people. It also is incredibly useful when I do endgame content. I think that having a VoIP server for the community wouldn't be detrimental as its simply an option for people to use, and options are never bad, imo. Regardless if there are people who say they won't be making use of it, there are still people who would. Perhaps create one and expand it as need be so you're not wasting money? I'm sure people who want it will use it in due time
  21. Woo, this looks like it's gon' be good I'll try to be around, tho I'm not too sure of my plans that day. Looking forward to seeing the RP that comes out of this!
  22. If you need any help building up the website I would be more than happy to offer my services. I have built a few enjin websites before and am familiar with their control panel. I can help as well. Very used to enjin. Here's my old site for an example: http://sentinelsark.enjin.com/
  23. RP session soon?!?! I think having one via skype/forum or possibly ingame could really help get the ball rolling in-character
  24. My main character could be interested in this. She's always been a rather neutral/lawful good character who seeks to aid others. Interested in hearing more!
