1. Make it so! I'd like more positive rep! Do it for the PUMPKINS! :tonberry:
2. Hey! Give me some credit too! Like Osric working your character, I helped Ruru! :bouncy:
3. Lol I had a little run in with him at Limsa where he tried to sell me pumpkins and I gave him a hard time :3. I think he ended up giving her some kind of pumpkin ale though. Denn was in her super secret spy mode and Gus comes strolling up in his pumpkin head, hahahaha. We ought to meet up again! I'd like to have you added to the friendlist! :tonberry:
4. You should meet Gus if you haven't...
5. Now I don't think I know you or your character, (if I ran into you, I'm sorry. I have played with MANY players) but I'm just going to make an assumption and you can take what you will from it, mate: I think the problem is that while you understand your character and their back-story, you are trying to identify a piece of yourself that you can relate to, in order to personify them. The whole point of roleplaying is to create a character that carries some elements of an idea (whether it's how you would like to be, what you find fun and awesome, ect.) forward. Another glaring issue is that you might be playing a Lalafell, that is too human. Remember, these are creatures that are a lot more different than a human (Hyur), in more ways then just size. Their social makeup is different, their ideology, expressions, everything. If you stop trying to play him as yourself (which I assume you may be), meaning your ideas, morals, ect... you might find a character you can identify with overall. Also, another issue (in my opinion) of players who would like to play Lalafell but can't bring themselves to do it, is aesthetics... mainly 'romance' and what comes with it. I'm sure no more then a small audience wants to imagine that scenario because of the way Lalafell look and as such, players looking for convoluted, romantic drama and turmoil might be turned off to the idea of romance with a Lalafell if that is their main draw to roleplay. Now I'm not saying that people who roleplay anything then a Lalafell are doing it for romance, but it's a factor I've seen on a lot of other MMO's in the past. I think what you need is the right crowd and some time to actually get to know the character. Like any story, you can identify with everything using exposition but if you're spoon-fed all the details rather then learning them along with everyone else, you're missing out on half the fun of roleplay. Just go with the flow, be more daring in expressing the character and overall, HAVE FUN! :tonberry:
6. UPDATE: So yesterday, the Piquant Pumpkin got involved in the Tournament being held right outside Ul'Dah. It was fairly successful as a whole (despite some spam due to the mix of combat emotes and sales pitches). Overall, it was a lot of fun and I think it brought some entertainment for the spectators aside from the combat. After all, who goes to a sporting event without something to munch on?:tonberry: I'm still looking for FC's and LS's that want to help with the Spooky Friday event. Once we get this going, I think we'll rock all of Balmung every week!
7. The concept itself sounds very interesting. I am however, worried whether it can resonate given the large scope of it. Typically, storylines on an MMO have to be at times, guided OOCly (via DMing events). I can see a lot of excellent stories coming from this but can also see a great deal of issues playing out, mainly the 'mary sue' complex. There are a lot of players who unfortunately think that they are very much like Cloud Strife or Squall Leonhart (practically invincible, bad ass with a chip on their shoulder). They may not want to coincide with the idea that another star aligns with theirs and as such, will move to hog the spotlight. I personally, would think it's hilarious if Gus, my character, had such a symbol show up on him. He's not much of a fighter despite his tenaciously narcissistic attitude and as such, all he'd really be able to provide is perhaps insight, information and a will to uncover the secrets behind this association. The sky is the limit with the concept, as I said. But will people play along with ALL the ideas people will have when interpreting the ideal? And should Maia's personal goal conflict with someone's interpretation, will they agree and go with it? Count me interested! Perhaps the stars have folks aligned to buy pumpkin goods from the eccentric Gus?
8. That means he thinks you could be a good model for his shop! You ought to talk with him lol I see that you remember the little Lalafell trying to drink the fantasia potion.... Yup! He disagrees with her using the potion but plans to sell pumpkin flavored versions at his shop anyway! lol
9. That means he thinks you could be a good model for his shop! You ought to talk with him lol
10. Oh yes! Gus plans on having pumpkin flavored potions, ethers, elixirs, fantasia potions and so forth! Anything to do with the occult, Gus loves. I'd love to have Gus work with L'yhta!
11. Now that's what I'm talking about! I have a few other Free Companies and Linkshells interested in collaborating. What Gus wants other then to own a few shops, is to marker his merchandise; for example: The Ballad's Rest would have some of Gus's goods. That being said, reciprocation would definitely play a factor which leads to interesting RP around business! If you want to, you could send Gus an IC letter and we could make it a RP session in itself!
12. Hello everyone! I'm not usually using this site due to being a bit busy at times but now I thinks is a good time to express interest, seeing as how this is a great way to reach out to players and Free Companies, Linkshells, ect. So! I recently posted a LS page for Gus's soon to open Piquant Pumpkin Café A lot of details are there, but I want to express how I'd love to coincide with other Linkshells and Free Companies! I'm sure there are tavern's already set up and what-not, but what Gus here wants to do is have an annual event every Friday. This will include drinks, competitions, prizes, storytelling and news while providing a fun atmosphere for all players to participate with. The Piquant Pumpkin itself is supposed to be at the Fisherman's Bottom 'officially' but I'd like to have the events play out in more then one place. It will be moved every week to various locations and suggestion can be taken of course! So, I'm advertising here OOCly as I do IC on the game everyday! Let's come together, get some fun events rolling, new business pacts and an overall welcoming feeling for adventurer's to have when returning home after a long trek into the wilderness of Hydalen. What say you all? Let's bring spooky, good fun every Friday! Also... imagine what will happen...on:
13. Throughout the city-states, you have seen many various fliers for a different variety of jobs and companies... this one catches your eye and is relatively crisp and new: There is a pumpkin strangely residing at your feet. Now you're interested....
14. Sounds like something right up my character's alley!
