1. The Lovers' War Location: The South Shroud Result: To be determined Belligerents House Rontremont - Antelope Tribe _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Ishgardian House of Rontremont is a prestigious noble family serving the court of Ishgard with pride. Their renown habits of displaying an iron fist and stalwart defense against their enemies make them a force to be reckoned with. Count Rontremont's love remains reserved towards his harem, but a specific concubine that was once taken from a tribe of seekers in the Black Shroud has had his heart smitten for many moons, until one evening, his feline lover vanished from his chilling estate. Under suns of investigations, Count Rontremont discovered that his beloved had been kidnapped by her former clan, the Antelope tribe. The one responsible in her capture was aimed towards one of the dominant Nunhs in the tribe, A'raha Nunh. A'raha Nunh's interest in his current captive existed since he was a simple Tia and claims that she was the reason he even dared climb up onto the ranks of a Nunh. His intents are presently to breed with the captured miqo'te. These turn of events have instigated an insulted Count Rontremont to establish a post in the South Shroud to recruit men or women into a military campaign against the Antelope tribe. His intent, to start a surprise conflict to demonstrate dominance and as well reclaim his rightful property. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ House Rontremont Although maintaining a presence in Ishgard exclusively, Count Rontremont brought forth a representative to Quarrymill to recruit travelers, adventurers, mercenaries or even other organisations to aid in a military campaign to defeat the Antelope tribe and to reclaim House Rontremont's property. House Rontremont promises wealth, titles, and vassalage to any who takes part in their military campaign. Depending on the result of the conflict, the rewards can potentially become greater. So far no Ishgardian knights have bothered to attend the campaign due to focusing on one of many priorities in the Coerthas Highlands, Count Rontremont will not be present either to see the campaign, but will sure be forwarding orders from his realm. Antelope Tribe The tribe in question does not represent the entirety of the Antelope tribe, but a subsidiary that their chieftain, A'raha Nunh, governs with the help of his mates. Like most, the grand majority of the tribe is filled with female members, with only a few male Tias that remain as minorities. Although unaware of the potential campaign against them, A'raha Nunh still keeps a proper watch over any dangerous foes that can threaten his kind, espeicially now since he took Rontremont's concubine from their grasp. It is rumored by the tribe that A'raha Nunh has kept his supposed captive within a hidden location in the Shroud, an area that few would be able to locate. They always seek people to aid them in manners, although they are not wealthy, so mercenaries are out of the question in their line of budget, simple hands or potential allies are always more than welcome to aid the Antelope Tribe in thriving. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ OOC Information Still work in progress, sort of, I'm planning out on a potential date (most likely this upcoming Friday or Saturday). Although combat will be present during the course of this event, characters who wish to participate are not obliged to fight. Players can decide which faction they wish to support or fight for, this event will most likely be an event chain. Do remember, there are no real heroes or villains in this scenario, so choose as your character would deem fit. This event will be a chain that will be occuring throughout the week or potentially the month, it is open for anyone to join in. Combat will follow through an honor system, if players have a dice system they wish to commit thereselves to against their opponents they are more than welcome to do so. If you wish to join in, have any interests to participate, please send me a PM and I can send you over my Skype contact.
2. This might be another reason why there is some confusion as to whether or not Gridania has nobles or not. Limsa, of course, also does not. As any pirate who acquired such a massive wealth would've been killed for his plunder in all likelihood. The only pirate said to have amassed a great fortune and wealth (both in coin and reputation) was the Dread Pirate King, Rycharde Mistbeard. Pirates and treasure hunters and even the Thalassocracy has spent many years seeking to uncover his massive wealth. EDIT: This is not to say that someone can't RP a noble in one of these cities or whatever. Just mentioning that, canon, we don't see true nobility outside Ishgard and Ul'dah. However, as I admit in my link to Gridania's Lack of Nobility post... it's entirely possible that yes, a Gentry of some sort is theoretically possible in Gridania, since the city-state has such close Elezen relations to Gelmorra and Ishgard, which both had/have nobility. But the nobility system would be family based similarly to Ishgards and have nothing to do with wealth, as the Pact of Gelmorra prevents any one citizen of Gridania from owning more material wealth than the masses. Fantastic post you've linked there. I guess this fills in a few holes that I had towards the subject. I'll digest some of the info provided and will see what I can come up with. Thanks.
3. Hey Everyone, This has been something that I've been itching my head all over for over a month now, I'm very familiar with Ishgard's system of nobility, but what of all of the other nations? Ul'dah - I'm aware of the Syndicate and the filthy rich nobles that roam around the place. Gridania - I'm a bit confused about this one, is there an actual nobility within Gridania? I mean I know there's Haukee manor but with how the whole structure of Gridania is, I'm a bit uncertain about it. Limsa Lominsa - This one's a no brainer, Limsa is just a successful pirate republic, sort of... So nobility is out of the question in that nation. Would any of you guys happen to have any ideas or explanation as to how the structure of nobles work and in which parts of the world are they present?
4. Its ok, I'm still in the photo! You can just see my sword barely sticking out by Kanaria's leg.
5. Well this just mildly breaks my heart Coatleque.
6. Bartolomeo's past and teachings have made him grow wary yet also tolerant towards a lot of the diverse races present in Eorzea, however some inner bias still exists inevitably. Miqo'tes -Depending on their culture, keeper, seeker, tribal, urban, etc. Bartolomeo doesn't exactly mind the race entirely, however due to the hostilities between tribals in his former realm, Bartolomeo has been extremely wary towards the more "feral" miqo'tes. In general though, he seems to hold more respect towards Keepers than he does with Seekers. Hyur - Well, it's his own race so he doesn't really hold any racial bias against them and he treats the highlanders equally in terms of respect. Lalafell - He doesn't despise lalafells, but through experience hes grown dubious in regards to what they may say. Roegadyns - He has no distaste for Roegadyns, as his nation had strong ties with Sea Wolf mercenary gangs. Elezens - Elezens to him are an exotic species, although he tries his best to restrain his emotions on the matter. The looks and figure may charm him but what lies in the heart may entirely change that perspective for him.
7. Welcome Lyriell, So as you wish I'm going to go ahead and give out my two cents on this inquiry of yours. My views on it is that it's absolutely fine and normal to generate ideas from other people's works, be it from games, movies, shows, etc. The only thing that leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth is the fact that you're actually using the character's name from the show for your character. In general anime-esque characters are very diverse and I would go as far as to claim that such an argument should never exist in this RP community since FFXIV's characters are filled with anime stereotypes/references (after all this is a japenese game no?) So coming back to what I mentioned on the paragraph before, "copying" the concept and incorporating it into the FFXIV universe isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when you start copying the name then it appears blatantly obvious to everyone that you're just forging a carbon copy of a character from an already existing universe. My advice, if you like the concepts from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, I have no issues with it and I don't see any reasons why anyone should, but create a name on your own. (Although I just realized as I type this that this point has been addressed to a few times...)
8. Kingdom of Jeridia, House Filangieri Manor As Bartolomeo marched upon the steps towards the noble districts of Jeridia, his golden eyes settled straight towards the elegantly constructed manor that awaited him right beyond the stairs. He pushed through the metal fence that solidly defended the main entrance to the estate, and upon reaching the door, Bartolomeo knocked. After five seconds the door opened from within due to the efforts of a bronze skinned, female seeker, with eyes vibrant in shades of violet and long black hair. She wore a white gown, its edges stained with dirt. Dark eyeliners were present around her eyes, and it clearly seemed that someone had strangely decided to dress up the miqo'te. Her gaze met the young man's, without empathy. Bartolomeo smiled politely and with anxiety he inquired, "Ah- m-m'lady... Is mother here?"The miqo'te twitched as her gaze sighted down towards the man's surcoat. She hissed and revealed her fangs at the young knight until a booming voice from behind emerged, "Dalia! Who is it?!" The miqo'te's gaze trembled at the man's tone, her ears lowered in submission. The door completely opened, and the miqo'te slid back inside while what appeared to be her master came towards the entrance. "....Tis only my son." It was Francesco Filangieri, a red chaperon was resting on his head while wearing a navy blue jacket. He smirked down at his son and gestured him in, "Come in, your mother and brother are certain to want to talk to you." A firm hand rested against Bartolomeo's shoulder as Francesco guided him into the main corridor. Bartolomeo marched up the staircase that led up towards the manor's studyroom, from there he caught sight of a middle aged woman, dark brown hair that was properly tied into a bun, makeup pampered her pale face and concaled her wrinkles. The young knight gracefully walked inside, "Mother..." The woman turned around only to give Bartolomeo a weak smile that quickly evolved into a frown. "Your father told me already..." Her gaze was full of concern as they fixated on Bartolomeo's. Bartolomeo didn't feel at ease to respond, and immediately his mother rose up and embraced him, tears poured down her face. "Please- I know what can happen to those who stay beyond the walls for t-too long...don- don't let it change who you are - Barto..." Bartolomeo embraced his mother in return, but was unsure in what to respond with, the words and reaction was entirely unexpected for him. It was until footsteps that the footsteps of Ildefonso emerged that interrupted the short bonding between the two, "Sir Filangieri! The Grandmaster requires your presence immediately - gather your belongings as the march to Dolfino will soon commence!" Bartolomeo reluctantly released his mother and gave her a reassuring smile as he gradually stepped back towards the staircase, "...I will return mother, even better than I am now...I promise." With that Bartolomeo followed Ildefonso down the stairs, with the intent at venturing to the city gates.
9. Island of Jeridia, Kingdom's Capital Square "The Coeurls of our magnificent Jeridia rise up to challenge King Pandolfo's rule! These spawns of the void are menacing our culture our very own lives! Aiming to eradicate all that is good-" The crier in the capital's square shouted out towards a roaring crowd of the city's residents. Among the crowd, stood two young men wearing a long black surcoat, with gold trimmings. One of them seemed to be at the end of his adolesence, while the other appeared to be in his early twenties. The youngest held an angular face, with dark brown hair that was properly brushed back, his face smooth, tanned due to exposure to the sun and the colors of his eyes a pale gold. The older warrior that stood beside the young one, was far larger and bulky than the comrade he stood beside. His hair was a far lighter tone of brown, his skin as dark as his younger companion's, his eyes steel grey, a stubble covers the lower segments of his face and and his hair full of curls. "Tsh, spawns of the void? It always amazes how the populace believes whatever people say." The older knight shook his head and lowered his gaze towards his younger comrade, "What say you, Bartolomeo?" The young man swallowed as he was addressed, "Ildefonso, I...do not believe that- that's accurate. Grandmaster told us that they were...similar to us - simply, not educated properly..." He lowered his gaze and appeared full of anxiety. "Bartolomeo, we're not here to -educate- or -reform- the vermin, we both know that our goals in the order is to fight them. We're knights, and from what I can understand out of all this - we're at the dawn of becoming crusaders." Ildefonso rested a hand against Bartolomeo's shoulder and grinned with plenty of pride. One of the members in the crowd turned back to see both Bartolomeo and Ildefonso standing behind them. Their jaw dropped with pleasant surprise as his eyes fell upon their dark tabards, "By the Keeper! Tis the Coeurlslayers! They are here to strip save us from the menace from the Void!" The man's outburst attracted many that were listening to the crier's speech and barely two seconds after, the entire crowd's attention was focused on the duo. People could be heard gossiping about the two knights, both men, women alike. The crowd proved to be overwhelming for the youngest, Bartolomeo as his cheeks flushed with embarassment at the sudden attention. "Bartolomeo - uhh - I think we should go." Ildefonso, says while grabbing Bartolomeo's hand and guiding him away from the intense crowd. As the two traversed through the city's canal on a bridge made of stone, a man wearing the same black and gold surcoat marched by them. His hair was long and grey, his face rough yet shaven and the wrinkles on his face gave him the appearance of a middle aged combatant. The most distracting feature was the black eyepatch that covered the man's left eye. The two young knights inclined their heads, "Grandmaster Manfredi." Their voices echoed together, and the Grandmaster before them smiled warmly, "I see you are both the last to be informed in regards to the recent earth shattering events, mm?" "You mean...tis true is it not? We are going to war against the miqo'tes?" Ildefonso inquired, his expression filled with uncertainty. "Mhm, I believe you've heard of the recent loss of castello Dolfino? Tis what influenced the King to bare swords and - from what I've understood, he wants us to lead the assault to reclaim it." The Grandmaster spoke, resting a hand against each of his two knight's shoulders, "We are to march tomorrow and assemble a siege, the King's forces will be there to join us." Manfredi was direct at the two, and brushed past against them to march through, "Now I have a final audience with the King. I suggest you both spend time with your loved ones before we leave Jeridia's hospitality."
10. ((Questions, suggestions, thoughts, concerns? Feel free to send me a pm!)) Kingdom of Jeridia, Rhotano Sea 1567, Sixth Astral Era The middle aged king, rested upon his throne with a worn, inattentive gaze aiming down at a collection of extravagantly dressed nobles. The King mumbled to himself quietly, his lips partially parting as his eyes shifted towards one noble to another. "Eight of you have appeared this sun to my throneroom, to discuss matters regarding the lost of castello Dolfino by the grim united tribes of the Gryphon's Talons, the Vultures and the Jaguars. Now, we all know what bloody days await us in our beloved isle, but these - vermin..." The king's voice boomed across the room, growing impatient as his gaze went towards an old, stressed looking noble, wearing a tight, burgundy attire with gold trimmings on its edges. "Lord Vitale. What did you do to provoke such a catastrophe?" The king lazily eyes down the old nobleman, who began wiping the back of his head with a white handkerchief. "T-the you've heard the reports your majesty! My son- perished in their assault I-" The old man was struggling to formulate his phrase, drowning in the stress of the loss of his heir and holding, but it wasn't until the voice of a tall, slim, male hyur rose up to interrupt the shaken count. "Your majesty, I speak on behalf the entirety of House Filangieri. The tribes only attacked due to the mild disturbance of our...transactions between our merchants and the House of Soranzo that Lord Vitale partakes in." The king smirks at the nobleman who spoke up, "Lord Francesco Filangieri, so you speak... Do your most - "loyal" servants abide and obey the laws that they are obligated- or...have they yet decided to wage rebellion against you?" "No your majesty, they are kept under severe watch and we inspire them to remain under Jeridian authority - and not that of the wilds." Francesco responded firmly. "Yet, here I analyze the report of the massacre- it appears your most "loyal" slaves took arms against the guards once beyond the castello's fortifications. Magnificently, the lack of organisation by House Soranzo had only proven - to not only allow slaves to make the guards look like jesters - but to open the castello's gates and permit such a mass of bloodthirsty beasts to spill the blood of all who were within Dolfino..." He rolls his eyes and continues, "Your idiocy comes with a price Lord Vitale Soranzo, but I will indeed have your proper holding reclaimed from the wretches that so boldly stole it... After all, tis Jeridia that is threatened, not just your dynasty." "B-Bless you- your grace." The shakened Vitale responded. "As for you, Lord Filangieri, your family's deeds flourish Jeridia's treasury, but - do keep a better eye for disobedience in the future, mm?" The king gave Francesco a wink and rises from his throne. "Let it be known officially to Jeridia - and the entire island that I- King Pandolfo Stagno - declare war against all that threaten the walls of our beloved capital - and its subjects!" The nobles in front of him begin applauding right after the king's verbal declaration of war. "Marshal Giovanni Tavelli and Grandmaster Manfredi of the Jeridian Knights shall assemble with my council the following sun... We shall plan our righteous reclamation and then our most needed domination..."
11. Bartolomeo Filangieri - Always wears gloves in public, mainly because he is a little wary of germs. - Has a soft spot for elezens. - Admires dodos, both alive and in his plate. - Strong approval of Ishgardian architectures. - Is not from Eorzea or Garlemald. - Raised in a now fallen nobility. - Father governed the most dominant slave trade market in his nation. - Was responsible for commiting genocides of various miqo'te tribal cultures menacing his home kingdom. - Was locked in a dungeon and then banished to Eorzea after a bloody civil war. - Shows a subtle disdain towards the more feral miqo'te, albeit having tolerance to the species as a whole.
12. Who can potentially kill Bartolomeo? Well, from people that he knows... Anelia Sadowyn: Anelia, probably one of the first friends and the reason gave him an easy path towards becoming a Sultansworn. The two of them however have very conflicting philosophies in righteousness, and this can make either one of them stick a sword out against the other. Coatleque Crofte: Reasons are similar to that of Anelia. Yuu Lyehga: Yuu has been a miqo'te Bartolomeo had been chasing after ever since she maimed a man in Pearl Lane. The two once fought and she nearly killed Bartolomeo for mysterious reasons. Her relentless talent can probably put an immediate end to Bartolomeo if he loses his vigilance. Bell Ebonwing: Bartolomeo's ex-love. Bell is prone to intense bloodlust that can make her strike everyone around her in battle. Bartolomeo's former code as a knight of Jeridia can make him retaliate against her, although Bell is a remarkable fighter naturally. Siha Xinkei: Another conflict of philosophies. Siha will not hesitate to step against Bartolomeo if he does something that she doesn't want to stand by. The Crows: A faction Bartolomeo has been seeking after, mainly a weakness against them and the recent wound he opened up to "the Voice" most likely made them wary of him (or not).
13. The tip of my longsword pierced into the flesh of the malicious elezen, and much to my surprise, the blood did not lack life. No, the blood was as carmine as any man or woman. The grim elezen was in pain, and much to my surprise, evacuated within the dark flames that were devastating the desolate manor. To vanquish an undead is no easy feat by nature, but it is not impossible or entirely complicated to achieve. However, it is easy to combat against the enemy we know, yet we are always struck with a rude awakening when the unknown emerges. The undead cult of Nald'thal, their assassins, rumored to be near unstoppable, retreated the evening when we tracked down the kidnapped Liadan Summerfield into an abandoned manor. Charging towards their own master, while his knife pressed against Liadan's throat. Surprised, my blade sinked straight into his shoulder, red blood staining steel. It was not black like the rest, this one was alive. In pain he ran into the dark flames he used to consume the manor and vanished with the rest. The miqo'tes who were with me had nearly perished during the battle and if I had not struck as timely as I've had, I wouldn't believe either of us to still be alive this day. A root to these creatures now has been revealed, yet a repellant has to be known of. I pray to the Twelve to find success in these discoveries.
14. The words of the Azure Falcon brought forth contempt to my mind. Hypocrisy, was the first word that grew in my mind as she scorned my very path. My own colors were disgraced. Despite my previous aiding...she rejected my views - no signs of gratitude. Why did I expect otherwise? The finishing touch, a voyage to the goldsmith's guild to have this armor modified once more. It held the color partially, but my true colors had to be revealed. My family's colors, were worn with honor, but I would rather not bring their coat of arms into further disgrace. My own heart cries out and tells me that I will be obliged to carry responsibility to the colors I wear. Gold, is the color that I desired. Its meaning; wisdom, compassion, optimism, triumph... Perhaps it was my own pride willing to express itself, but tis a color that I relate myself mostly. Once altered, I shall wear these new colors and have them blessed in the Twelve's sanctum. Yet, a question once rose. Why don the armor of the Sultansworn? Is that not behind me now? I am but a knight-errant, truly, but I cannot forsake what I once was. Despite what Anelia said the eve before, I was a Sultansworn and I shall not so easily relinquish this fact. I shall don this armor with grace, and pride.
15. Wow, that's funny. Because I remember someone doing just that very same thing to me in a Char Dev thread about rolling your D&D stats. I believe it's because the pot enjoys calling the kettle black.
16. Bartolomeo's noble family business consisted in slavery that was legal his realm. Even though his kinsmen have been wiped out, such portions of his history may very well implicate him being slightly known in the market.
17. You're going to have to share those graphic settings of yours... SweetFX I'm assuming?
