  1. Who knows, we'll have to wait until patch 2.1 after the game releases for them to add the barber shop and new styles. So it's anyone's guess how many new ones or cross-styles they might do then. Also, for heights, you might want to check out this thread for some rough ideas. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=1737&highlight=measurements
  2. I still had the client up running the Character creator so I went ahead and took some shots of the female highlander hairstyles. Should give you a good idea at least. http://imgur.com/a/UGVPe
  3. Note that this is not ALL the abilities for each class as you earn a few moves from major class quests throughout leveling, so yeah xP
  4. Welcome. And Drug dealer/smuggler would fit in fine. With Somnus being evident in a lot of Ul'dah story and quests and stuff.
  5. *looks up from counting his Reddit Karma* What? Bahahaha, that's what I thought lol.
  6. I have to disagree slightly here, as evidenced in the introduction of new Garlean characters in 2.0 it brings question to this. The new Nero character is shown without his helmet yet also shares the same body type Nael had. Being that more Elezen proportions etc. Yet Nero is clearly some kind of Hyur. I also highly believe the big Roegadyn type we've seen will also be a massive Hyur as well if he ever removes his helmet. I'm off the belief and stance that the upper echelons of the Empire is comprised entirely of Hyur and there's a certain elitism about it all. Until I see clearly a lalafell or miqo'te within the upper ranks with their distinct physical features will I think otherwise for the most part. The Roegadyn is a huge possibility, but given they've stretched it with Elezen physique I can clearly see them doing the same with a giant of a Hyur. Fair enough, but as I mentioned with Darnus, it's the naming conventions at work there. His name was even used as an example in the Elezen naming convention post if I'm not mistaken, or it was at one point when discussing them. However, that's why I alluded to it only being a possibility, and that he might very well be something else. And as far as the Roegadyn goes, while I suppose it's possible for him to be a hulking Hyur, I think that'd be stretching it a bit much. Roegadyn have a very distinct body structure, and I feel like a Hyur with that type of frame might stray from what has been established. It'd be freakish even by Highlander standards. He'd have to be roided out of his damn mind, which is a possibility, but until proven otherwise I'm personally inclined to go with Roegadyn. To each their own, however. :> True about Nael, as well as his heritage to the Allaghans, which were likely Elezen. So it's tough to say. Before hand I was all for them being a mix, but after seeing Nero without his helmet, it puts it within reason that SE has used other race body types to depict Hyur Garleans. So It's a plausibility that won't be proven until we see them all without helmets, or at least one of the two races with completely distinct anatomy features (Miqo'te/Lalafell). I'd certainly like them to be a mix-match of all the races, but at the same time a more Pure upper hierarchy also really makes sense for the Empire to have. Only time will tell (hopefully). If we only knew the Roegadyn type man's name, that might help out too -shrug-
  7. For those wondering what that thing was that the Garleans were shown carrying through the sky. I'll let you know it was not Bahamut, and leave it at that.
  8. Looks great, glad you didn't change the lips and the hair coloring looks very fiery which I think you were going for. Her and Ship will have to talk pipeweeds some time IC!
  9. Guns are completely common place within Limsa Lominsa. Nobody even bats an eye when it comes to them. Merlwyb uses them, the yellowjackets use them. There used to be a musketeer's guild in 1.0 that had them.

  11. Thanks for setting this up. I'm sure it'll help a lot of people. Though curious as to why you linked to your reddit post, and not just the imgur album link lol.
  12. Mostly reiterating what Wizard said, but yes. The problem is, this IS relatively meta because everything established within the game's setting is contrary to this. Ul'dah is such a fine example of this. You have scores of lalafellin Brass Blades, Sultansworn, even guild NPCs at both the Pugilist's guild and the gladiator's guild in upper positions training new recruit's. NPC's only tend to treat Lalafells with this kind of stereotyping when a particular lalafell NPC exhibits those over the top cutesy traits, and even then, it's not because of their race, but because of their character. (Like Sisipu from LL, or Tataru) So the main thing is, lalafell are not "cute little snuggly things". They CAN be, but it should not be treated IC as a rule to encapsulate all lalafell. And to do so is contrasting the established game precedent towards the race. It's the same as if everyone treated Miqo'te as being extraordinarily cat-like as a rule, like having a fondness for balls of yarn or talking with an abundance of R's thrown in. Will some people play their Miqo'te like that? Sure. Does it make it ok to treat every Miqo'te player as if that's expected? Certainly not.
  13. In summation... Yes. Ship did the time warp.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised to see this happen in all actuality. The fact Odin is modeled separate from his horse is something to make note of anyways. They're certainly going to be implementing new mounts as it is anyways. We've got the Coeurl confirmed, as well as having seen both Drake and Ahriman mounts in development. On top of the Goobues from 1.0. So only time will tell before we see if we get a Sleipnir "Egi" mount maybe. Hahaha.
  15. Yeah, I guess that's my problem. I accept racism in the game, I think it's great. But Lalafell get treated with the most offhanded racism (by players specifically) than any other races, for no other merit than them being a small race. So in the game world, racism is healthily distributed to all the races (for the most part). Yet within the RP world it heavily leans against the lalafell. And many players probably don't even realize it due to it technically being meta-gamed into their RP, influence from their real world perspective. So it sucks, it happens, and it bugs me, but there's nothin' I can do about it except handle it when it happens to me in game.
  16. Might as well post, although I'll still be making some changes to 2.0 Ship before release. Courting the idea of a dunesfolk possibly, dunno. If anything I need to fix 2.0 Ship's hair color to be a more proper white rather than the gray I tried out initially. But yeah. 1.0 2.0
  17. Careful what you wish for. Cause there's a lot of them. Guess someone has to draw them, I know I certainly got tired of it quickly lol. But keep up the good work, you've certainly got a definitive style going for you.
  18. Sadly you're too late as I've already brought sexy back~ But welcome, your meat-shield reputation precedes you.
  19. Sadly, this will never happen. Because for everyone one serious lalafell there are probably at least 10 or more lalafells that perpetuate these unfortunate stereotypes. There will always be scores of stuttering cutesy lalafell because that's just the kind of player their overall design appeals to sadly. So unfortunately it will persist to be a problem, but oh well. It'd be nice if SE helped us out and gave us more NPC/storyline lalafell that break this mold, but that's unfortunately not going to happen. Especially since the only good examples we had (The twins Seserukka and Popokkuli) from 1.0 seem to not exist in ARR. Unfortunately we don't have many good ones in ARR it seems, at least none that aren't mages.
  20. One of the worst being abruptly picked up by another PC in an in character RP. Not only is this completely unacceptable in an etiquette sense but it's completely unreasonable. Lalafells aren't weightless, and while they're small their weight range is still likely between 50-100lbs at least. Not to mention how rude and demeaning it is on an IC degree. (Sure, lots of lalafell players wouldn't mind it, but still.) And Rho, I totally wanted to make a lalafell like that once, and might have with Ship if he wasn't already established as his rough self in previous things. Plus I don't like monk all too much in game xP Maybe as an alt...hrmm.
  21. Oh my, it seems I have some kind of reputation? Who'da thunk it?! But Rho strikes great points. There are plenty of character archetypes that can be played out to make sturdy and badass lalafell that aren't like my own character. Even if it is like my own character that's fine, as I get people telling me that Ship reminds them of other tougher lalafell characters they have known before as well. So it's not big thing, I guess I just happen to be the more prevalent one at the moment here. Ship is brash, loud, obnoxious. These boisterous personality traits make him kind of a ruffian archetype, a selfish brawler. So Rho's examples are all spot on. The valiant champion they listed is basically the archetypal opposite of my own character. The other options, like stern and wise types, and sneaky thief-assassin types are also good choices. Those archetypes fall more naturally in line with the lalafell status quo though. In that they're more likely to happen (Known for intelligence etc, small size and high agility attribute towards stealth etc.) That's why Ship's a Warrior, because it's just about as far from their natural archetype as you can get. As a side note though, for those wanting to play more serious non-stereotyped Lalafell. Prepare to take tons of flak OOC as well as some IC from meta-gamed presumptions. This is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to playing a lalafell, within real life, a small race like them is a joke, but within the realm of Eorzea, lalafell are treated with at least a semblance of respect. Certainly their size is the brunt of some jokes, but not their capabilities as combatants, like ever. You walk around and there's tons of lalafell guards in many places, cutscenes have shown them to be strong well beyond their size would imply and that they are not discriminated from any line of duty. You don't see NPC's treating them differently because of their size or cute tendencies, yet you see many, many players do, both IC, and especially OOC. This can be rather annoying but it cannot be helped sadly. Good RP'ers don't, more or less, but it still happens. It's understandably hard to not let those preconceived notions not leak into people's characters.
  22. Yes, this needs to happen. World's most giant white mage.
  23. Ready to crack some skulls. Need a training montage. Gotta be sneaky sometimes too though. This handsome mug. "What? There wasn't a sign saying I couldn't sit here!"
