  1. I tried posing with an NPC. Huh...
  2. What I would do, is start in gridania as a conjurer. By the time you level it to 10 when you can pick up new classes you'll have earned abilities you can cross-class that will make everything else a lot easier for you. The natural story progression has you go to all the cities anyways once you get your airship pass, and after the starting city the story merges into Ul'dah as it is. So either or, you can level a job your character doesn't have IC to start in the city you want. Or you can start as the job you want but it'll net you in the city you don't want.
  3. More Roegadyn women. Hurray! Welcome, welcome, and so on and so such. We're a friendly enough community so I'm sure you'll have no problems fitting right in. But in the event you get scared or intimidated, don't be afraid to jump into my manly chest for salvation!
  4. Not to burst anyone's bubble. But this will never happen. For numerous reasons, but the biggest one being PS3 limitations. Simply cannot process a bunch of character's custom animations etc. Not to mention it'd be abused far more than it would benefit even if it could make it in. So I'd rather not see it lol.
  5. As Rho stated, it's better to play the "archetype" of the Red Mage, if that's what you want, since you can't adequately play one within the game's terms. Nothing is stopping your character from being a jack of all trades, but I'd certainly avoid going too heavily into Red Mage specific territories until we know more about them being a potential class in the future. This way, your character can essentially be a red mage in spirit, and then once the class actually comes out it offers an interesting RP perspective of him finding out about established red mages and finding a "home" so to speak.
  6. Ship can be seen carrying around a gemshorn created from a ram horn. Something he picked up in his travels and helps him keep his spirits up when wandering the lands.
  7. In the end, it comes down to the fact that SE wants classes to feel unique to themselves. It's important for each one to have it's own identity, especially when you bring in those iconic Final Fantasy Jobs. From a gameplay point of view, more options is generally always better. Having freedoms to build your own classes is great. But that's not something FFXIV is looking to do. Each of their classes and jobs fulfill a certain aspect. I'm ok with what we currently have available to us. I can cross-class very useful skills onto my Marauder or Gladiator. Protect, cure, Second-wind. These things make me unstoppable in solo content, which is what I play the most often.
  8. As a kid I wanted to play music so terribly bad. But I was rather impoverished and so I didn't finally get to start really playing until my Jr. High years when I could borrow school instruments. Saxophone is my one true passion. But since then I've picked up a collection of new and fun instruments. From piano to drums to guitar and bass. I always love picking up something new and fiddling with it. I got into the music recording side when I was in high school and in college, but haven't really pursued a musical career. I love all kinds of music so I doubt I could settle on playing a specific style only. So I dabble and record songs that I'm motivated to make, from instrumental rock, to smooth jazz fusion. It's all good to me. Music is my biggest passion in life. (Edit: For those curious, I do have a few pieces of my work on the intertubes. Here's my soundcloud profile. )
  9. I recognize that character...from other parts of the interwebs... Welcome aboard. Always good to have more pretty highlander ladies~
  10. Implying this doesn't specifically urge me to put as many children into an early grave as possible.
  11. Nope. No more room. We're full up.... Nah, just messin'. Welcome aboard. You may join the other miqo'tes in their giant cat-pile.
  12. Nope. This will not do. Where are the jokes? I didn't laugh at all while reading that! I demand a refund! But anyways, welcome aboard. I'm sure you'll fit in with this lot just fine. Always good to see more Roegadyn women showing up. And thankfully the name you've picked looks like it'll fit (There's a limit to 20 characters for a character name unfortunately. This makes it actually pretty hard for Roegadyn names.)
  13. (Edit: Looks like everyone said what I was going to while I was typing this up and confirming facts and sources) They are aware Greatsword is not represented. And have stated it's likely coming sometime in the future. Although as to which job it would go to is still unknown, the obvious ones being Dark Knight and Samurai, as stated by Yoshi. When these will happen, we have no inkling, only that they are working on new class/jobs and that they'd like to have at least one released before the first expansion. So we will likely see one class/job before the end of the first year, and perhaps more as part of an expansion. With the introduction of branching jobs from the same class (i.e. Summoner and Scholar branching from Arcanist) This means they can add more iconic FF jobs more easily than creating an entirely new foundation class. As wild speculation, Dark Knight would likely branch from Marauder, or possibly Gladiator, rather than some new GS wielding class (Although with Samurai likely on the way you could easily have a swordsman class that dual branches to DRK and SAM) But who knows. Only time will tell.
  14. Highly underrated movie. I saw it last year in theaters, loved it. Although there was like 2 or 3 of the "stories" that I would love to see have a whole movie of it's own tbh. So that kind of hurt it a bit for me. Still, a lovely ambitious project and overall a very enjoyable story. With brilliant music I might add. yi1DrQfVT1I
  15. You can get out of range of certain stronger attacks. Some bigger AoE moves are telegraphed and you can run away. Other moves you can try and run away from but it only works with moderate success most of the time. As a tanking mechanic. No way. This is not Tera or GW2. Tanking is the classic meat-shield face tanking variety. This is why of the two tanks, one is your standard Sword'n'board class with defensive skills, and your other is an invariable mountain of HP.
  16. A note on cure tanking, before you get the wrong impression. This generally works only for Solo play and likely works in the first dungeons in each city. However, THM will always lack the necessary HP pool and physical defense required to fully tank. They will not be able to take stronger attacks as easily without these things, and they will not be able to keep their heals cast consistently if they're trying to tank multiple mobs. They will have their spells interrupted far too much to be reliable. So just want to nip that in the bud before people start throwing around THM as some kind of viable tank. A GLD can do the very same thing with cure cross classed onto him, replenishing his MP once he has access to Riot Blade. And even then he will not be self sufficient enough for harder and more proper tanking encounters.
  17. Ice and Fire Spells are strictly THM/BLM. Not even CNJ or WHM can use those ones. In fact, the only offensive THM spells that CNJ can use is ThunderI/II/III. And the above mentioned Surecast and swiftcast. On the flip side. Of all CNJ skills, THM can only use the support ones (Cure, Protect, Stoneskin etc.) And the basic levels of Stone and Aero. The higher stone and aero are CNJ only. The Cleric Stance skill from CNJ can also be used by THM (Increases offensive spell dmg by 10%, decreases healing spells by 20%) So even the DoM classes are restricted in what they can equip cross-class. The DoW classes have similar restrictions as well, a lot of the abilities not being able to be cross-classes.
  18. As it generally is none of the offensive DoM skills can be cross classed. Cure, Protect, Raise, Stoneskin. These are CNJ skills that any class can use.
  19. Ladies and Gents. Please, contain your orgasms.
  20. I love female Roe. But it's pretty obvious why they'll be under-represented. Male Roe were too for the same reason.
  21. We have had word though. Yoshida has said multiple times during live letters that a scout/thief class is missing and that he'd like to add it. So it's a likely possibility it will be added down the road at some point. Yoshi wants to make sure the DoM and DoW are pretty even in terms of representation, so keep that in mind as well. With the introduction of split jobs from classes we'll likely see a more regular stream of new jobs trickling in as the game progresses after launch, through updates and expansions. It's simply a waiting game at this point.
  22. Lol yeah, a lot of the lighting makes his hair seem blond I suppose. It's white/grey though. No biggie xP And yes, the .gif is of the twins in Ul'dah. Great characters.
  23. Interesting. Ship looks pretty good with the blond hair. Hrmmm. And lalafell miners are best miners. We have the best bodies for the job, obviously.
  24. In terms of Eorzean. Ship is completely illiterate. He cannot read or write, and becomes fairly grumpy if it's pointed out to him.
  25. CJ, you are like, my favorite artist on this site (Next to myself, that is.) But yeah, these all look amazing so far. Always love black and white pictures with just a splash of color. And I wish I was as fast as you are in terms of cranking out just great quality pieces. A skill that must come naturally after drawing so much so often. I could do to learn a lot from you!
